Runs nicely performance-wise, but very jank
Possible game-breaking progression issues
The game runs fine, at least on my system, but I couldn't get past the first mission of the game because either I couldn't figure out how to progress because the game wasn't telling me, or it kept breaking in unique ways. Regardless of whether this is a technical issue or just poor game design, I thought it was worth mentioning here
Very solid Linux port by OutOfOrder Games
Sometimes the voicelines for the notes would begin playing way farther ahead then the start of the text, and I believe some dialogue was skipped entirely
Game didn't fit to my full resolution, likely due to me using a 2K monitor, which were very rare in 2012
Played the game from start to finish on Linux, and it went as well as I could've expected, save for the previously mentioned issues
Surprisingly well-done Linux port. Thanks, Aspyr
My Windows saves were not present, but strangely the game thought that I had save files from Borderlands 1 on my computer (I don't own that game) and gave me some cosmetics for it?
–Though PhysX didn't make the jump with me from Windows to Linux because I guess the game's version of it didn't have Linux support, which obviously makes the game unplayable. /s
Flawless.
It even supported my controller, although I didn't use it because it felt wrong.
Played through the whole game. Experienced not one issue.
I bought the game explicitly because of the native Linux support, and I was not disappointed. Thank you, Clockstone Software janitor, for seeing the Linux export option in Unity or whatever and going "why not?"
Excellent platformer with a stellar Linux port
The way my Xbox controller's joystick was bound to the 8 possible dashing directions felt off. May just be how the game is though
Game doesn't launch under any version of Proton
gamemoderun
I've heard many people say that this game's mouse input is off, even on Windows, but I think I only started experiencing those issues on Linux
Annoying, arbitrary lag waves with "True 3D rendering" on
This is another instance where I tried just launching a game with no compatibility layer set on Steam, and for some reason it just worked. I have no clue why. Probably something to do with Wine. Regardless, though, the game runs well, minus the issues listed above
Highly unstable and buggy compared to my Windows experience
Same issue as-is present in other Source-based games such as Left 4 Dead 2 on my hardware
Runs like ass when not in fullscreen. Same issue as in Left 4 Dead 2, probably a Source/Linux thing
Having seemingly any add-ons enabled would cause the game to crash before getting into any maps; the UI just fails to load sometimes
The game was much more unstable for me on Linux compared to my years of experience with the Windows version. The worst part of it all, even over the issues mentioned above, is that 64-bit Garry's Mod never could reach the main menu. So the performance and stablility are both FAR worse. Very disappointing results

32-bit native Linux works fine, but 64-bit native Linux seems to be busted, hence the need for Proton. I wouldn't use it if I didn't have to, but it seems to work well enough, albiet with a performance hit.
Fantastic Linux port, as to be expected from a Source game
Loading screens seem slightly slower than I remember from Windows; odd for Linux
PS: Linux version also seems to have an exclusive graffiti in the "Carson was here" secret room of Tux the penguin that nobody seems to have documented. Just wanted to point that out in case I am the first to notice
Excellent native version
Your progress will not carry over if you're going from from Windows to Linux
Works well enough
I'm able to play the game at an enjoyable level, once I get past the bad controls. The only potential problems I've witnessed are infrequent instances of models and sounds not loading, but I get the feeling that's a Just Cause 3 problem and not a Proton problem.
gamemoderun
Loading times were abysmal compared to when I was on Windows 10. I'm not sure how much of it was due to using an external SSD, or how much of it was due to my mods, but I tried launching without mods and as they began to forcefully reinstall (Source jank), my loading times were still bad. Either way, I'm not willing to continue debugging it
gamemoderun
Minor artifacts under rare circumstances probably relating to mods
Best Linux port I've ever seen. First game I tried on Linux Mint, and it ran out-of-the-box perfectly, even without my graphics card's drivers installed, and it runs smooth as blood now that they are
Native version has a strange issue where every option on the menu takes you to the options screen, preventing you from playing the game. Regressing back to version 4.2.1 via the "beta" screen fixed that, but the game had minor audio issues and obviously lacked some features. The newest version of the game on Proton version works great, at least
Works satisfactorially
The same issue as many others: Reflections are glitched.
Frankly, I still don't understand why Hyperstrange can't be fucked to just add native Linux support. It's a rather simple Unity game; it's technically in the POSTAL series, which has historically had good Linux support; and the biggest point of all is that it already has controller support, which would make it perfect Steam Deck material if even one single guy would just put it in the work to export and half-heartedly maintain a Linux port like Running With Scissors already does for their POSTAL games. Or at least make sure running the game under Proton doesn't have glitchy-glaring flaws.
gamemoderun
Rare lag spikes and stutters. Will probably be helped by gamemoderun
Rare optimization issues here and there, but that was before I tried gamemoderun
. Otherwise it's 100% playable out-of-the-box
gamemoderun %command% -force-opengl
Jukebox visualizer is bugged
Performance seems worse than what I remember from the Windows version
Note that the tinker steps were just me attempting to remedy the performance problems, they're not necessary to play the game.
Apart from some performance issues, very good Linux version
If POSTAL 2 didn't exist, I'd actually say that this game has the best Linux version I've seen so far. Apart from some performance issues that can probably be fixed with a good 'ol 'gamemoderun
in the launch options,' it's perfect. Even your progress will port from Windows to Linux! Now that's rare!
RADV_PERFTEST=gpl gamemoderun %command% +r_rhirenderfamily d3d11
Used Proton 7 for a while, and that worked. But I tried launching it without Proton one day, and it just kinda... worked? Really well, no less? I have not a single clue why. My guess is that it has something to do with me also installing a Quake Linux port from the software manager and feeding that app Steam Quake's file path? Either way, unadvertised native works phenomenally
gamemoderun
Crashed going from borderless to fullscreen
After Quake 1 launched natively, somehow, I tried launching Quake II without Proton as well, and it also just kinda... worked? I'm not sure why. I DID notice that one time when the game crashed, there was a popup that somewhat resembled a Windows popup, so perhaps Wine magically caught the game on its own and is running it? I have no idea. Either way, it runs phenomenally for me.
Flawless Linux port. Perfection.
Not surprising, given that it's one of the few games I can think of that is open source.

Missing cutscenes, later fixed by installing Windows Media Player in the Proton instance
Though I wish Capcom would've went through the effort to just port the game to Linux natively or just hire a 3rd party company to do it, running it under Proton certainly isn't bad. In my experience, the game runs just as well as on WIndows, even with some mods installed, though I had to install Windows Media Player via Wine Tricks in order to see the cutscenes.
(Damn near) perfect Linux port, no notes
One of those games that doesn't like fractional scaling. Just decide on either 100% or 200% and you should be fine.
Great game with a solid Linux version
I'm 20 hours deep into the game, and I've only ever played it on native Linux, and it works very well. Only issue I've encountered is the game saying that it "didn't shutdown properly" even though I've been closing it via the quit button. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic native Linux version. No issues here
I was able to get into multiple worlds and play for at least 15-30 minutes with plenty of mods (10+) loaded and the game not only held together, but performed very well, even compared to the Windows version! Couldn't ask for much more
