Played the base game and the short DLC to completion without problem, except for some sound crackling at one point.
One time in the base game and then one time in the DLC, the ambiant sound suffered some mild crackling. It went away after a few minutes.

it has significant visual artifacts and i couldnt change the gamma setting
unplayable and super dark, game doesnt launch with proton

I love amnesia and all of frictional's games run perfectly on linux
Idk it was supposed to be fullscreen but it seemed like it kept on alterning between fullscreen and borderless when bringing up the esc menu. weird but wasnt a issue tho
Click and play and enjoy the story and the horror

Sometimes dialogues are completely skipped. To fix this, you need to download native GNU/Linux version of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (Steam or GOG), copy lib and lib64 folders and paste them into ATDD folder. Select "Write Into" when it asks but you don't need to overwrite files as the 3 files are the exact same. You just need those missing 5 files from AAMFP.
You need to disable World Reflection (Water) in the graphics options to prevent crashes in the maps that have water lurker monster.
The Native binary runs without any tinkering required. No issues on my end.

Awesome horror game that works perfectly on linux.
I used the Windows version of the game with proton experimental because the native version kept crashing when I clicked on continue from the main menu.

Very solid Linux port by OutOfOrder Games
Sometimes the voicelines for the notes would begin playing way farther ahead then the start of the text, and I believe some dialogue was skipped entirely
Game didn't fit to my full resolution, likely due to me using a 2K monitor, which were very rare in 2012
Played the game from start to finish on Linux, and it went as well as I could've expected, save for the previously mentioned issues

Went into main_settings.cfg (found in ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/57300/users/steamuser/Documents/Amnesia) and changed LimitFPS to false, however this did not properly uncap the FPS as almost all game elements/animations are locked to 60 FPS regardless.

Works perfectly!
Video to show game working properly for those out there that have reported issues before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BaoiQRmZk0

The game having been released in 2010 will likely enable it to run on any chromebook made in the past 9 years considering its system requirements

Native build isnt stable and has graphical issues.
All of the "organic matter" textures are missing background transparency, same with some ground and dirt textures (screenshots on my steam profile).
Crashes when entering the lever gate on the first water monster area.
Be aware that the game doesn't have steam cloud support thus switching from native to proton or vice versa deletes your saved games.

Game works as intended without any issues. Proton Experimental

gamemoderun env MANGOHUD=1 ./Amnesia # %command%
Installed the Forge mod for Amnesia, which brings Vulkan. ( https://github.com/OSS-Cosmic/AmnesiaTheDarkDescent )
No audio (possible issue on my side)

60+ fps with these settings:
- Resolution: 1200 x 800
- Fullscreen: Off
- Texture Quality: High
- Texture Filter: Trilinear
- Anisotropy: 16X
- Parallax: On
- Shadows: High
- Quality: High
- Resolution: High
- PostEffects: All On
- SSAO: On

Game runs with proton experimental without additional configuration, native didn't work

Launched on Lutris Wine runner, "lutris-GE-Proton8-17" with NoSteam.exe it runs perfectly

The game was crashing on Proton 8, i switched to experimental

Couldn't always return to game after alt-tabbing
I was able to copy my savegame from the Linux version to the Proton version: https://savelocations.fandom.com/wiki/Amnesia:_The_Dark_Descent

Works out of the box
Didn't have to disable water reflections. Used Proton 8.0-2 because the Native client had no audio.
Overrall it was good. Remember to diable the water reflections and pay attention to the dubbed notes, if they get partially skipped.
If you have enabled water reflections, the game will always crash at a water level. Disable that option and it won't crash.
Seems like some dubbed lines are randomly(?) skipped rarely. I've noticed it twice with the dubbed notes, which luckily you can read by yourself right after. I'm not sure if it happen with flashbacks, that would be more problematic, but it's hard to tell without the whole text.
Performance is perfect on my low end PC.

Tried the GOG linux and Windows version with proton 7 and GE 7-26. Both will start a game, but when you load a saved game the game crashes to desktop or game mode menu.
Native Linux game, runs perfectly OOTB.
This is a native Linux game, should run with zero issues on any distro.
Works great after disabling World Reflections in Graphic Options
disable World Reflections in Graphic options to prevent crashes
be like pewdiepie
fun game lots of laughs and no horrors :)
Changed some grafic settings
The Trackpad as mouse is better when some fine adjustment is needed
Fixed by disabling "World Reflection (Water)" under advanced grafic settings
Disabling "World Reflection (Water)"
Works fine as long as you disable the "World Reflection (Water)" graphics option to prevent crashes in water populated areas.
Works perfectly with proton
Native version crashes on startup
Proton-6.21-GE-2
Some of the screenspace effects on native Amnesia:TDD seem to lack proper smoothing, and the effects are much harsher on the eyes as you can see the jagged edges of their distortion profiles. There are also issues with fullscreening, as Amnesia:TDD always launches on the wrong monitor for me, and tabbing out reveals that it's trying to force a slightly different resolution and/or framerate than what I normally run, causing all of my three monitors (3x matching 1080P 144Hz Freesync/unofficial GSync enabled) to hitch and blank for a moment both tabbing in and out. Running via Proton solves all of these issues.
It runs really well
i had low frame and it was because my old hardware i gusse but on window mode with 1024 x 567 resolution i had between 60 and 50 frame

I experienced bugs with native version. Proton was flawless
About after 1 hour of gameplay with the native Linux version I experienced a breaking bug: during a cutscene the screen went black and I could just hear audio but couldn't move or anything. I tried reloading the checkpoint multiple times but the issue was still there. I decided to switch to Proton and everything ran smoothly: I completed the game without issues, except a minor one: I wasn't able to adjust the gamma.
Works great on Proton, slightly better than native
Gamma cannot be adjusted
The native version of the game works fine out of the box, but I had a couple of issues. Mouse sensitivity on the inventory screen was way too high, and some of the flashback dialogue scenes had some lines completely skipped. Running in Proton, these problems are gone, but I noticed the gamma can no longer be adjusted.

The game is available natively but, as it's crashing for me when I press "Start Game", I decided to try running it with Proton. Fortunately, this way it works perfectly. I haven't noticed any issues nor differences from the native version.
