Though the game is listed as gold and compatible, in my experience (everything standard, no changes on Proton, no nothing, just download & play) the controllers doesn't work. No action on any of the face buttons, analog or digital. I also tried downloading some custom made controller setting and still it does not work, other than some action on the L4/R4/L5/R5 buttons to spin around.
Works out of the box

Works OOTB
I finished all 5 chapters, no crashes, no tinkering, it just works :)

Awful port of Duke3D but works as on Win10.
Awful Duke3D port. Would highly recommend using EDuke32 over this garbage if you're looking for an authentic Duke3D experience optimized for modern hardware which runs natively on Linux. Only redeeming quality is the new set of levels with new enemies and weapons.

No issues at all.

gamemoderun
I've heard many people say that this game's mouse input is off, even on Windows, but I think I only started experiencing those issues on Linux
Annoying, arbitrary lag waves with "True 3D rendering" on
This is another instance where I tried just launching a game with no compatibility layer set on Steam, and for some reason it just worked. I have no clue why. Probably something to do with Wine. Regardless, though, the game runs well, minus the issues listed above

Works great. No problem. Loaded up. Plays very smooth. Changed a bit of UI setting to suit my preferences, but default controller and UI all fine.

Works perfectly
Full screen mode changes to windowed mode but I had the same problem in Windows so it's not a proton bug

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
When starting the game without launch options, there were constant jerks during playing game. But the launch option "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" solved the problem completely.
Place this into ~/.steam/steamapps/common/Duke Nukem 3D Twentieth Anniversary World Tour/dxvk.conf
file in order to eliminate input lag:
dxgi.syncInterval = 0
d3d9.presentInterval = 0
Also turning off "Rewind" feature in game settings will increase performance significantly.
Turned off that "Rewind" feature in order to increase performance.
Looks like PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
reduces delay a bit but it doesn't get rid of it completely.
Overall it's a good experience
After change focus to another program, the game goes to window mode. Alt+Enter is sufficient to put into fullscreen again.
Rarely the game just close. I don't know exactly what cause this, seems random.
There's some random crashes, but they are rare and the game allows you to save at any point anyways. I was able to finish the game without more issues.
After switching to any other application game goes into 1280x720 windowed mode, instead of 1920x1080 fullscreen mode
Installs and launches perfectly. Beat first campaign no issues.
Constant disconnect. Seems to be par for the course though after research.
No problems runs great
Won't respond.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Ingame, turn off "True 3D Rendering" for flawless gaming experience.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Ingame, turn off "True 3D Rendering" to run the game perfectly fine.
Error: (-2005270524) Failed to create d3d11 device.

The game does not run in fullscreen mode. Hitting 'ALT-Enter' or setting 'Options > Video Settings < Full Screen' or using '-full' parameter does not work. It just automatically switches back to windowed mode. Also, the maximum available resolution is only '1280x800(16:10)'. I cannot choose higher resolutions than this.
works fine
Seems to work with any version of Proton, but the game usually won't launch with DXVK, have to use launch options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
The game had terrible mouse lag with older versions of Proton, but it has been fixed since. Works perfectly with Proton 6.3.
It freezes a bit when closing and have to use the PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% option to make it run.
Avoid to use OSD notifications from your notebook - it can hang the game
If any OSD (i.e. brightness change) pops on the screen, the game freezes for a significant amount of time, resuming afterwards.
Ocasionally, the game can freeze when trying to change volume (OSD notifications).
Keep in mind that the 32-bit libmesavulkan-drivers library is required for proper execution.
Right after installing the game, it did not start. It was necessary to install the 32-bit libmesavulkan-drivers library for the game to run. Do not grab the version of this 64-bit library. After this unforeseen event, the game works perfectly, in full screen and with maximum graphics.
Come get some, it just works!
work out from the box
Works perfectly out of the box! Just finished the game with Proton.

Failure start
After start game it doesn't appear and any crash message doesn't appear
No issues

no problems at all
