I am not able to load mods or join modded servers through the official DayZ launcher. To be able to play on modded servers you need to use the third-party launcher: DZGUI. Otherwise the game pretty much runs flawlessly with high and stable framerates.
The game runs great. But due to their implementation of EAC, Online doesn't work. Trying to join a server will just kick you back to the main menu with no error window or anything. Since Online is the most essential feature of the game. I would consider the game BORKED.
LD_PRELOAD= gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -e -f -r 144 --force-grab-cursor --backend wayland --adaptive-sync -- game-performance env LD_PRELOAD="$LD_PRELOAD" %command% -useallavailablecores
After many years, EAC finally works on Linux and you won't be kicked the moment you are joining a server anymore!
gamemoderun gamescope -w 1440 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 144 -f -S stretch -F pixel --sharpness 8 --force-grab-cursor --steam -- %command%
Fragpunk works flawlessly under Proton. No issues, no complaints
LD_PRELOAD= gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -e -f -r 144 --force-grab-cursor --backend wayland --adaptive-sync -- game-performance env LD_PRELOAD="$LD_PRELOAD" %command%
The game ran fantasticaly well during the beta and it still does after it's official release! However some insignificant features may not work, like copying the crosshair code for exporting crosshairs and some pages can not be accessed (probably because I am running under gamescope)
gamemoderun %command%
It seems that the framerate is lower on Linux than on Windows but that can be due to driver limitations on Nvidia drivers. Otherwise it's barely considered an issue, as everything else runs silky smooth if not smoother than on Windows.
Running the game under the official stable proton version (Proton 8.0-5) works as well as GE-Proton.
Overall a pretty flawless experience. Getting high and stable framerates, no crashes and everything just works out of the box.
The steam overlay issue might be offputing since it's essential for inviting, but that's really it. Otherwise everything works fine
gamemoderun %command%
Steam overlay doesn't work with standard proton (Proton 8.0-5 for the making of this report), switching to GE-Proton8-32 solved it.
The only significant issue I ever had is the overlay not working. Otherwise that problem can easily be solved by running GE-Proton instead or even Proton Experimental from what I have seen from other reports. The rest of it all just works. Online works perfectly, very smooth framerate and stability and only experienced one crash but can't tell if that's the game or a proton issue.
LD_PRELOAD= gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -e -f -r 144 --force-grab-cursor --expose-wayland --adaptive-sync -- game-performance env LD_PRELOAD="$LD_PRELOAD" %command%
No configurations are needed and works right out of the box by using the default proton version
gamemoderun %command%
It even works flawlessly running with mods using r2modman
gamemoderun %command%
Not much I can add here. It just works.
gamemoderun %command%
Aside from using GE-Proton, it all works right out of the box without any tinkering outside of a simple gamemoderun command. I initially started the game using Proton 9.0-3 and it managed to start the game, compile the shaders and enter the main menu just fine, but switched over to GE-Proton to be more on the bleeding edge considering it's a brand new game.
The game ran better than I expected, because according to the system requirements I should be targeting around 60fps on Medium settings 1080p using upscaling tech. But I actually managed to hit that with everything on High.
A lot of people seem to report on a lot of bugs and performance issues in this game (Which I have also experienced) but it has nothing to do with Proton and are general issues that Windows users are also experiencing.
It outright says it doesn't support Wine/proton
Getting an error window that says Wine/Proton/SteamDeck isn't supported, which prevents the game from launching. Spectre Divide devs are simply saying that Linux gamers are not welcome. Go play something else, like Fragpunk or The Finals. They work wonders under Proton.
Since the 2.6.0 update, the game keeps kicking me while Im 5-10 minutes into a game and gives me the TFAV1011 error (System Integrity Violation).
The game worked perfectly fine before the 2.6.0 update. Now the game is practically borked now that I am getting kicked everytime by the TFGE0027 error and then the TFAV1011 error. I can't even escape it from the firing range.
The kicking issue that was introduced in the 2.6.0 update is now fixed on Proton Experimental and GE-Proton9-5.
The game immediately crashes when starting it.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
I have tried multiple versions of proton, which includes Steams recommended, expermental and GE. Nothing works with the same unfortunate results. Clearly doesn't deserve the platinum rating as of now.
It just runs perfectly out of the box. no tinkering and everything works, even online.
