After many years, EAC finally works on Linux and you won't be kicked the moment you are joining a server anymore!

LD_PRELOAD= %COMMAND%
occasional slight hitch in audio like a stutter here and then not a big issue at all barely noticeable.
prelaod command stops the game from randomly dropping to super low fps for no reason after playing for some time, I can play for hours on end with no problem. just change to dx11 and relaunch instead of using default dx9 because proton really hates dx9 bad and it barely works on dx9. A dev decided to kick something and EAC support for linux turned on randomly so you can actually play.

runs perfectly at maxed out 4k on a 43 inch screen. if you lag it's either an nvidia bug, you didn't tinker right, or your hardware sucks
LD_PRELOAD= %COMMAND%
VERY minimal audio crackles or hitches, playable
DX9 will absolutely throw a fit on proton, pls go to settings and swap to DX11 then restart game.
running default the game will constantly hitch and run at like 12 fps no matter the settings, changing to DX11 and using the commands in launch options fixes it instantly. idk what dev went and kicked somethin but EAC support is on for this game now, online and all playable, this game should be rated gold.

EasyAntiCheat now works with Linux.

the game is playable, before the EAC would make you exit, but now you can actually play online without getting kicked out
the game starts but if you go to another app or monitor it turns black

Game does not identify resolution correctly (must be set in game) but finally works with EAC because it is either supported by Proton GE or they disabled it based on the game's age.

Easy Anti-Cheat problem
Can play in training mode but not working for the mission mode at all. Can't join any server listed there too.

Game works but due to anti-cheat you cant play with others
The game starts looking for games and even manages to start loading it until it kicks you out due to anti-cheat
The game runs great. But due to their implementation of EAC, Online doesn't work. Trying to join a server will just kick you back to the main menu with no error window or anything. Since Online is the most essential feature of the game. I would consider the game BORKED.
Able to load menu, training and single-player maps. Dirty Bomb connects to multiplayer servers and will show you what team you're on (CDA or Jackal objective screen). However after this you will be returned to the main menu.
Intro scene froze; cinematics are buggy. Graphics are generally poor.
It plays after some work- but I wouldn't play it just yet.
everything but multiplayer works
no official servers but the only servers up kicked me out after a few seconds of loading
Multiplayer doesn't work at all.

Couldn't start a online match.

Easy anti-cheat is missing proton support
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Proton support for easy anti-cheat has not been enabled. After about 30 seconds of online play you are kicked back to the main menu, the tutorial and assault course works. The launch option is necessary to be able to navigate the main menu.
Hangs on "Signing In: Fetching game data..."

EAC Borked
Game installs, tutorial runs. But kicks you out of match due to EAC. Also slight visual glitches
It runs when using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 but it kicks you from the match due to EAC, otherwise playable.
Game wouldn't enter main menu screen without it
Couldn't play the game. It runs for about 30 seconds and then I get kicked to the menu screen.
I did not had any issues with fullscreen I could: enter it, exit it and alt+tab with no problem. I tested windowed, borderless and fullscreen. I had some stutter issues while playing online but it doesn't stutter on the tutorials wich leads me to believe it's just the shaders compiling.

What happened after the game ran was the freezing of the game's initial menu.
I tried many times to solve this problem, using the dx9 the game performed a little better and responded to the inputs a minute or two before it froze, but the fps was so awful, I could not do anything.
Multiplayer is playable if you can tolerate lower graphics settings and some occasional FPS stutter
Doesn't start without this flag.
Very seldom short audio crackling at launch and when the actual multiplayer match begins, almost unnoticable.
I’m not sure if broken “beta DX11” mode in the video settings could be considered a graphical degradation but here it is. At the time of writing, enabling DX11 and restarting the game effectively break it, you will need to edit the text config in the game directory or remove all configs (default ones will be created automatically). Only default DX9 mode works with WINED3D flag. I did not notice any missing textures or artifacts, tho.
After enabling the fullscreen mode and restarting the game it grabs the mouse pointer and freezes, and I had to fire up the terminal and kill the offending processes (pkill -9 -f shootergame
)
Enable borderless mode at the first launch and see my notes in the bottom of this report.
In-game sensitivity values on Linux didn’t match the experience on native Windows installation (same mouse and DPI settings), I had to decrease the in-game sensitivity value from 12 to 7.
Performance is much worse than on Windows
- On my previous PC with i5-4460 and same GPU the game could run smoothly with all settings maxed out (except motion blur) at 60 FPS at FHD resolution. I had to use Low settings preset to get a decent experience with Ryzen 3700X.
Delayed game UI behaviour
- I don't know a correct term for this but Game UI and menus respond with some kind of delay. When I hover my mouse over some menu item, it noticeably takes some time to react. While it feels inconvenient, it does not prevent you from configuring the game and navigating through menus. In-game multiplayer interactions are not affected.
Weird FPS stutter
- Disabling vsync significantly (but not completely) reduced the FPS stutter in my case.
The game can’t exit on its own (as mentioned by the previous reporter) however closing it with a button in Steam works
The game sometimes starts in the minimized mode and it’s annoying
Thanks to the recent EAC support in Proton, this game became actually playable.
^ I said the multiplayer is excellent because ProtonDB asked about lags, connectivity and matchmaking issues. I had none. However there’s one network-related bug where you are not able to see ping values in the server browser.
The game won’t work out of the box and will require at least 1 restart
I will describe the experience I had while making this game work.
After downloading the game, I launched it with PROTON_USE_WINED3D
flag. The first launch may be unpleasant especially with multi-monitor setups. I pressed Alt+Enter to switch to the windowed mode, navigated to the settings menu and made following settings:
- Ratio, resolution: (my values)
- Dynamic resolution: OFF (slightly better performance for some reason)
- Windowed: BORDERLESS (the only way to have this game in fullscreen mode)
After making the initial configuration, apply it and close the game with a button in Steam. Relaunch it and make other configurations if needed.

Game runs but interaction with menu is unusable
EAC works correctly, and it is possible to run with the antivirus. UI seizes up whenever you try to switch menus. Game has a hard time shutting down. No obvious graphical issues, for what I was able to access.
You cannot even navigate the menu without using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Slight crackling
Would occasionally get a randomly spinning white artifact after changing settings in menu. In-game is fine though from what I can tell.
Crazy glitches with menu that affects even outside the game for me until I made Proton use WineD3D
Performance is okay, not what you would expect on Windows
Game will just freeze if you hit "exit game", and hitting alt F4 still keeps it running in the background. The only way to close the game as of now is forcing it closed like with the system monitor. The process is called "shootergame-win"
Will get booted after about 15 seconds from any server
Nothing happens. Doesn't launch.
get kicked after 10 sec. if playing online
you can play training, EAC will kick you out of mutliplayer servers
Great game, you just can't play it.
Game works well but get automatically kicked from any server after ~20 seconds.
Easy Anticheat seems to kick you after playing for a bit.

Doesn't even launch.

Instant Crash, lets you send a crash report (which i did)
Game doesn't run at all, likely due to its anticheat. The game is however without developer support now, and will likely have its servers taken offline some time in the near future once the playerbase drops even further. It would be a wasted effort to imbue this game with functionality under Proton.

crash in load game

Crashes after title screen

It's the anti cheat probably

Splash screen appears then crashes

Shows the splash screen for a few seconds, then crashes and shows a "BugSplat" crash report window
