Game shows a message saying that it won't work with wine/proton.
It's been the same since release and i don't think it's going to change. Honestly not gonna impact a lot of people as there's only 500 players at most everyday and the number keep going down.
It outright says it doesn't support Wine/proton
Getting an error window that says Wine/Proton/SteamDeck isn't supported, which prevents the game from launching. Spectre Divide devs are simply saying that Linux gamers are not welcome. Go play something else, like Fragpunk or The Finals. They work wonders under Proton.
A message appears stating Proton, Wine, and Steam Deck are officially not supported.
This appears to be to prevent cheating somehow.
The direct blocking of wine, and apparently windows 7 is, according to Shroud, to "prevent cheating".
I tried to disable the detection of wine by editing all of the files in the game directory. I used the command find ./** -type f -exec sh -c "sed -i s/wine/eniw/g {}" \;. This did work at disabling the wine detection feature, however, even after changing the winecfg to use Windows 10, the game would not launch with the error "Windows 7 is not supported".
If anyone can get around this it might be possible to make it run.
I wish I knew what method they were using to detect the windows version. It appears to be faulty in relation to wine.
Problem with anti-cheat
I guess I will keep playing Deadlock and Counter Strike 2.
Game blocks wine/proton with an error message
This game will not launch as wine/proton is intentionally blocked by the developers and results in an error message and crash.
Works fine out the box ,fps capped at 1000 for some reason
The game gives an error when loading, Saying it doesn't "Support Linux, Steam Deck."

Don't hold your breath, this is from an interview with Mountaintop Games CEO via The Verge.
“Steam Deck is a concern as a cheating vector, and I think our anti-cheat systems may block it right now,” Mountaintop CEO and cofounder Nate Mitchell tells me.

Don't bother
Launching the game states that it does support Wine, Proton or Steam Deck.
The game is downloadable, upon launching the game Steam installs DirectX runtimes after which the following error is displayed (https://imgur.com/a/LKjYSzO), the application exits upon pressing OK.

On launch, all I get is a popup reading "The program encountered E111000B at 00002111 during initialization. Wine, Proton, and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!"
