Lovely game, lousy performance
This game just is NOT well optimized for Deck, there is no reason it should be dipping as hard as it does. Constant dips no matter what you change in settings. I kept it locked at 30 FPS since it at least mostly didn't dip below there, but pulling out your phone does dip to around 20 FPS on occasion.
I loved this game, but had to lock it at 30 FPS to maintain at least mostly smooth gameplay, otherwise it constantly goes up and down from 30-60 which I'm personally very sensitive to to the point where it feels nigh unplayable. Amazing game though, and if you don't mind locking it at 30 definitely worth playing
Wouldn't boot. Tried several different Proton versions with no success
The game wouldn't boot, and doing research it seems like it's had a decent bit of problems for a lot of players, even not on Deck. Bummer
Works perfectly, just needs some controls tweaked
Used L4 as 'ESC' to open the menu, swapped A and B, plus added X as B (for some reason the controls are swapped the wrong way by default)
Game wasn't much fun to me, but it played perfectly
Works great, earns it's 'playable' for controls though
Keyboard needs to be brought up manually
No controller support that I could find, but plays good with the trackpads. Need to bring up the keyboard with the Steam+X shortcut though
It works, but man the FPS is distractingly erratic
I usually am super fine reading small text, but this was really quite a challenge for me on some sections. I have rather good eyesight, so I can't imagine how hard this would be for someone who tends to have a hard time reading small text.
Sometimes when changing resolution and graphics settings some weird artifacts would appear on the right of my screen. Changing the settings back and forth fixes it, but it may take a number of tries.
FPS Drops. Everywhere. It fluctuates wildly, with some parts even going sub 10 FPS. Conversely, I had one part stay a practically solid 60 FPS. The rest was a fluctuating 30-50 FPS. Changing graphics settings does net higher peak FPS, but as soon as you start turning the camera it's basically just as bad as if you had it on higher settings. I recommend Medium.
The frame rate was so erratic is was extremely distracting from the gameplay. There were hour long sections that were on average sub 30 FPS, with no graphical changes fixing it. I was able to fully play through the game and beat it, but it's hard to recommend for me. If you have a better PC, play it there, but if you're like me and just want to play on the Deck, know you caaaaan, but it'll really stink at points.
Sorry folks, no Dongo Adventure on Deck right now 😔
Tried many different Protons, didn't work. To be fair the game barely works on Windows anyways
Works perfect, gets an easy "Verified" from me
Seems to only run at 24 FPS, IDK why, maybe it was how it was programmed. It absolutely sips battery life, the Deck's battery life estimates have been over 7 hrs for me.
To be honest, this is purely a nostalgia game for me, it really really stinks so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for any other reason. If you enjoy searching for hidden objects that you can barely even discern with how stupid blurry they are, then I suppose this is for you as well. The Steam Deck magnifier is an absolute lifesaver for me (Steam Button + L1)
Works perfectly fine, just not very fun with the trackpad
It plays so much nicer with a mouse, I just couldn't enjoy it nearly as much with the Steam Deck pad
Played perfectly, beat the game with 0 issues, post-game works fine for me too
Ran great, whatever problems others here had with the post-game either just didn't occur for me or were fixed
Do not use the native Linux port, it runs horrible and is extremely outdated. Use Proton and run the Windows version
Changed gyro to only activate when holding 'L' to match the Switch port I'd played before
Text is very small, I didn't have much of a problem, but if you have trouble reading fine print it will be a challenge
Definitely some frame rate spikes between 30-60 FPS. Runs a LOT better than the Switch port I was used to though so it didn't bother me much. It never dips super low, but it's definitely noticable
Had a great time so far with this game on the Deck and will continue to.
Works great, tweak the controls for max enjoyment
Changed 'select' button to 'ESC' key so I could open the emu menu, and right pad to mouse to navigate. Also configured the left stick as a d-pad instead of a control stick since it wasn't working well initially
I'd give it a solid 'Playable'. Played through stage 1 with 0 issues, other than needing to toggle my control layout around so I could open and navigate the emu menu. If that weren't an issue, I'd give it a 'Verified', it runs perfectly
Plays beautifully, just need to change the controls
Used L4 as 'ESC' to open the menu, changed control stick to d-pad with analog emulation
Great game, runs perfectly, 0 issues
All you Lost Egg 2 fans rejoice; it works perfect on Steam Deck
I had no issues myself, though I believe I did have to manually open the keyboard with Steam+X, so only because of that I'd give it a 'playable'
Plays great, though defaults to 30 FPS
Episode 8 had a horrible bug that kept constantly respawning me and happened consistently. I had to quit and start the game again from the auto save to progress. I don't think it was a compatibility problem though
The game defaults to 30 FPS & Low settings. It ran perfect even when bumped to 60 FPS Ultra, but I preferred 60 FPS Low due to higher settings adding a weird rainbowy filter on the edges of the screen that made me dizzy
Plays perfectly, just has frame rate dips
Frame Rate dips quite often
Works perfectly
You can run easily at 5W TDP, it plays perfect
I didn't have any issues, I'd give it a solid 'verified' for Deck from me
Definitely not a smooth experience, but playable
Sometimes things would get a bit blurry. Hit 'Y' when playing and things smooth out a bit (no idea what 'Y' is mapped to in-game but it made a noticable difference)
A small stutter every few seconds
The game crashed at one point after talking to a character and I hadn't saved so lost all my save progress. There's no auto save, so be sure to save frequently!!
I enjoyed my time with it, but it certainly wasn't the smoothest experience. I had a crash after choosing one dialogue option, but ended up changing my mind after reloading and going a different path, so I'm unsure whether the crash is consistent or not
Technically works, but oh my goodness it runs bad
Ooooooh goodness, this runs awful no matter what settings you put it at. The Deck is NOT happy running this and revs the fans up hard
It performs sooooo bad. The frame rate is just everywhere no matter what settings you have it at. It ran a bit better on my Windows PC, but still rather bad, so I just think the game isn't well optimized, unless Postmouse was made to be the ultimate stress test
Works perfect on Steam Deck
Everything works great, the only issue is with how unintuitive all the menus are. I'm usually pretty decent at changing settings but man, I had to look up how to do so many things; it just isn't organized well. Works perfect though once you figure it out
Works perfect, no issues
Didn't try online, I just wasn't interested in it. There wasn't any Epic Games popup, so that's good. With that gone it should be a verified game to me
Works great now
Tried this shortly after the Deck first launched and it had major stuttering and crashing issues. Now, it runs flawlessly for me. It's amazing how good Proton has gotten. Only other thing is that controls seem to show keyboard inputs instead of controller, but it's easily overlooked for myself
Works absolutely perfect, 0 issues
I'd 100% give it a verified, it felt like it was literally made for Deck. Not sure why it's listed as unsupported
Had to open on Desktop mode to get the configuration tool to work so the game would launch
The config window is a bit of a pain, I was able to get it working eventually, but only in desktop; downloading and then starting the game in game mode did nothing. Had to go to desktop, do config settings, then could switch back to game mode and play fine
Some title cards for levels were occasionally messed up. Only happened during my first few hours of gameplay then seemingly disappeared
Some lag spikes, most every level would have one at some point, some seemingly randomly. It can affect gameplay if it's particularly bad; I had several times the lag ate my inputs
Use in 16:9, like many Sega games around this time 16:10 just stretches the graphics to fit.
I was able to 100% the game, but it definitely has some issues; I would think it would be listed as 'unsupported' as is unless the config tool gets fixed; it took some looking here to figure out what would work to open it
Plays perfect, just may need to swap the resolution to 720p instead of 800p
I 100% this game, all red star rings, all S ranks on the deck. I had little fun doing so, and am not quite sure why I put myself through that experience, but I digress; it works perfectly
Works great, just have to change the resolution
Had to manually go into settings and change the resolution, it starts at like 240p from boot up for some reason
Works great, just have to change the resolution in the configuration tool
You will need to open the configuration tool to see the resolution. Don't set it to 800p, it stretches the game vertically to fit. Use 720p instead
Randomly started stuttering a bit in a stage, but overall worked great
Made a few changes for personal preference
You can literally run it at 3 TDP no prob. It holds a solid 50 FPS (no idea why it maxed at 50), although when walking through Strong Bad's living room there are some random frame dips no matter what TDP you're at
Starting at the Tutorial, on Steam Deck's Proton 8, Strong Bad's eyes were missing. On Deck's Proton 7, Strong Sad's mouth was missing. On Deck's Proton 6, it was all better, and remained that way for the rest of the game (although Strong Bad did randomly lose his eyes once when loading into an area, but never again after reloading the area)
Works great, just need to do some minor fiddling
Works perfect, no significant issues
7W TDP is a great battery compromise, gives a 40~ FPS; good enough that I completely forgot I had lowered the TDP when playing
Some text is rather small. I have really good eyesight, but for some it may prove a challenge
My Prawn Suit got glitched into a floor and I had to map L4 to F1 and fiddle with reloading the map to work it out; not a Deck problem, but definitely annoying as it took like half an hour altogether
Frame rate is really good, holds a shaky 60 FPS on Medium which I found perfect for me. I'm sure dropping to low could improve it even more. I believe it defaults to 'high' though and I'd definitely recommend bumping it down, the game looks fantastic on Medium and I never felt I was missing out from not having it on High
Plays great, but set refresh rate to 40hz
Some brief glitchyness before each cutscene for like a couple frames, but the cutscenes play fine after that
Framerate was rather erratic going from around 40 to 60 FPS constantly. I ended up setting the refresh rate to 40hz to stabilize things
Overall I enjoyed it, it just couldn't hold 60 FPS. Plays muuuuuch better than the Switch port though
Plays great, but definitely just "Playable" and not "Verified"
The opening cutscene had some border things going, but other than that it was good
You need to use the manual "Steam button + X" to open the keyboard, and often when closing it it would somehow open chat, which I haven't figured out how to close without sending a message
Definitely turn the graphics settings down, it chugs otherwise. Fast and Ugly looks fine and plays great
Me and my friend got his build softlocked stuck in respawn indefinitely, but that wasn't a compatibility issue, I blame the game (though the game is really fun)
Recommended, but it definitely earns it's "playable" instead of "verified" title
Works great, though I'd tweak the graphics for better performance.
The game sucks up more power than I expected. I played a ton with all the settings and what I've stuck with is 50hz, 576p (I think that's what the number is, IDK) Medium graphics with Ultra for draw distance, at 8 watts TDP. I couldn't see much difference from 720p-576p for this game, so I lowered it to save a bit. Without tweaking things the fan kicks on hard, it has a really hard time maintaining 60 FPS.
Been working great overall, just took some time to tweak things
Plays absolutely perfectly
There's a user agreement you have to tap the touch screen to get past when you first play. From my playtime, I think that's literally the only reason this is officially rated 'playable' not 'verified'
Works perfect out of the box
Every once in a while the framerate seems to halve for a good minute or two then fixes itself. No clue why.
Besides the slight performance hiccups, it gets the verified rating from me. Great game too!
Plays excellent, I'd easily give it a 'Verified" rating from me
Worked perfect. There's also different graphical settings to play with if you want to increase battery life
No issues for me personally
I don't recall any big problems for me, like it may have had a rare frame rate dip here and there, but that would have only been a handful of times during a complete 100% playthrough
Works great, but one of the launch windows for changing settings didn't boot up.
The launch window for changing the resolution settings and stuff didn't load for me. It may work in desktop mode, but I didn't try since after it failed the game booted up and has ran perfect.
Besides that launch window thing, it's been playing perfect, no I have no real complaints myself.
