Would not launch from Native. Forcing the latest version of Proton made work. Didn't have any problems afterwards.
No major problems. Game crashed a few times, but the game autosaves all the time, so reloading to the previous point was quick and easy.
The secondary launcher can be navigated using the mous trackpad.
There are 3 cutscenes that don't work properly. 1 shortly after the chapter 5 boss fight, 1 near the end of chapter 9, and the end credits. The first had audio, but didn't show video. The other 2 just didn't start (thought they didn't crash the game. So after a wait, the game skips it and resumes to the next scene). Temporarily switching to Proton GE 8.0-4 allowed the video to play. The first 2 cutscenes had video and music, but no voice acting. This was not a problem for the first cutscene since it has no voice acting. The second has some, but also has text, so it's not a huge problem. However, the end credits video didn't have music. So it was just the video.
The default version of proton that Steam applied for this game was Experimental. So this might change. It seems to works almost perfectly outside of the mentionned 3 cutscenes. I would recommend temporarily switching to Proton GE before the fight with the chapter 5 boss, and before going to talk with Perriend after the chapter 9 plot dump, and then switching back. The end credits simply don't work properly at all, so you should consider watching it elsewere. I don't recommend staying on Proton GE. It has audio problems with other cutscenes, such as the opening movie, that Experimental has no problem with.
Didn't notice any technical problems. The only thing I would recommend is to change the ingame resolution to 1280x720. Both the default resolution and 1280x800 makes it so that a protion of the image's border goes offscreen.
Switched between different versions of Proton before going back to the one recommended by default.
When I started playing, the some of my buttons would double click, or the binding would be incorrect. After quiting, I switched to Proton Experimental and GE. The controls for both of those worked perfectly. I then switched back to the default, and it worked perfectly for the rest of the game.
The game's FPS would lower significantly when entering a new area. This occured no mater the graphical setting or version of Proton used. This would also occasionally happen during regular gameplay. The game also froze for around 10-15 seconds 3 times. Twice was during a specific bossfight (game logic didn't continue while frozen, so afterwards I was able to continue the fight with no problem), and once was, weirdly, near the beggining of a cutscene.
Works well more than enough of the time to make it a good way to experience the game.
Seemed to crash when I was pressing a lot of buttons on startup during the developper logos. So try to only press buttons the 2 times you need to do so to proceed.
Make sure to lower the resolution to the one for the Steam Deck. The game usually ran at around 25-35 FPS for me. Would probably have been a good idea to lower some settings. Other than that, works well.
Don't switch compatibility option mid-playthrough. Had some input issues. Other then that, worked fine.
Button imputs would register multiple times or continue as a long press.
Game reset my save when switching to proton.
Works great. Didn't need to change the controls. Doesn't seem to have any differences compared to windows.
I had 3 occasions where the auto battle would be on, and nothing would happen at all. Nothing I pressed seemed to fix the situation, so I had to restart. It only occured to me during grinding sessions, and I believe it happened when the game tried to make a character use a spell/summon while they didn't have the MP for it. In any case it happened rarely. I suggest quick saving often while grinding.
Outside of my 1 issue, the game seems to work perfectly.
Completely customized the controls. R2 and L2 = Enter L4 and A = Mouse Click B = H (Hide interface) X = Escape (Menu) Y = Control (Skip) Directional pad: Up = Page up, Down = Page Down
Controls would sometimes stop working completely.
The game itself runs well. The official controller layout isn't good. It also seemed to be the cause of the loss of controls. My controller setup seemed to be less prone to the loss, so I made it available in the community layout.
-changed shoulder button behavior -changed face button behavior
Needs to be put on Fullscreen from the game menu. Needs to be switched to Experimental or an older version of Proton. The default does not allow saving and does not sync well with cloudsaves.
-Changed trigger behavior -Changed buttons behavior
When playing on Steam Deck, the game doesn't start on the correct resolution setting. Make sure to change the in game resolution settings to Fullscreen.
-changed shoulder button behavior -changed face button behavior
For Steam Deck users. The game does not start at the right resolution. You need to change the resolution in the setings to Fullscreen in order to get the best image.

-changed shoulder button behavior -changed face button behavior
Needs to be put on Fullscreen from the game menu. Needs to be switched to Experimental or an older version of Proton. The default does not sync well with cloudsaves. I was able to recreate the sprite glitch on windows, so it's in the base game.
Make sure to play on 'Safe Graphics Mode', and it should run perfectly.
The game would slow down with attacks targetting more then 3 targets. Would only last a second.
Added an F9 key on R4 to enable to subtitles.
Seems to work perfectly on GE. On regular Proton, it seems to have some minor graphical issues, but I didn't play this version for long enough to know the extent of it.
Don't forget to change the ingame resolution. The game had no other issues.
Changed L1, L2, R1, and R2 to be L2, L3, R2, and R3 respectively.
A lot of text was to difficult too read.
Had to quit due to the text being too small to read. If that doesn't stop you, switch to experimental.
Game runs well. I even maximized the anti-aliasing and still didn't have a problem with performance. The game has a few minor bugs, but nothing that probably isn't an ingame bug.
Changed the d-pad to match arrow keys.
Couldn't proceed because the text in the management section was too small for me to be able to read.
Seems to have had a lot of trouble loading the first tutorial (as far as I got).
I didn't get very far. I gave up trying on the Deck during the first Tutorial. The text was too small for me to consider playing on it.
It crashed once during the first cutscene of the game. After restarting the game, it worked perfectly, and I never had any crashes.
Text in the pet minigame was difficult to read. Everything else was fine.
Image was slightly zoomed in to fit the screen verticaly, but cut off the sides of the image. The ingame settings showed the correct resolution, but didn't apply it until it was manually changed and set back.
Made the Right Trackpad behave like a mouse. Made L4 a mouse click.
The intro clips stutter for a few seconds when starting the game.
The into clips stutter for a few seconds, but there doesn't seem to be any problems once you get into the game. I would also recommend adjusting the ingame resolution to that of the Steam Deck.
I switched L1 and R1 to be L4 and R4 respectively.
The game works great. I switched to experimental since I read that they had added some things that made P5R run better on it.
Character names were difficult to read.
Game had a weird bug were the last input was kept between loading screens. This isn't usually much of a problem, but this includes the loading going from ingame to main menu. The last A press is kept, and it immediately goes back ingame. This means that to quit or to change the options, you have to manually stop the game.
For those who somehow missed it, the right analogue stick can be used to aim.
A minority of the textures had ghosting issues.
I switched L1 and R1 to be L4 and R4 respectively.
Works great. The gamepad controls aren't the best, but work well enough.
Audio would occasionally start crackling and slowing down after resuming from a suspended state. Closing and opening the Steam Deck once or twice would fix this issue.
At the very start of the 4:3 movies, there would be static for a few frames, and then it would continue without issue. I had 2 occasions when the movie wouldn't work at all, go to the test image, and skip to the next scene. 1 of the movies was repeatable, and worked the first time viewing it, but didn't on following viewings. An unrelated reinstallation of the game seems to have fixed the issue, and both movies worked. The game will also occasionally flash black after interacting with cache cubes, chests, or NPCs. This didn't seems to cause any other issues.
Was playing on Experimental, and thus stuff might change. Switched the display to Fullscreen.
There is some text that is to small, and the font is difficult to read.
It's still readible, but the text in the game is generally a bit too small for the Steam Deck screen.
The game works well. Didn't see any big problem with the gameplay. Had a resolution problem where the map would go beyond the games resolution and just stayed in what should be the black bars on top and below the screen. It didn't affect gameplay. The screen would also go upside down for a few seconds sometimes in some areas, but I honestly don't know if it's a bug or a feature. Feels like the sort of thing this game would have.
Works perfectly when you enable Proton. Without Proton, there seems to be a problem with rendering captured enemy models in the inventory. The models simply don't show up. Didn't notice any other issues.
Made A, L2 and R2 = Enter, B = H, Y = Escape, and Y = Tab.
The game works well. Whether one wants to play it with Proton or not doesn't seem to matter. I would recommend changing the controls, since the default isn't great.
Works well with a few minor graphical problems that seem to be on the regular PC version.
Tecture pop in
There was some pretty noticable texcture pop in during cutscenes, but they seem to be present on windows as well. I switched to GE to see if it solved the issue, but it didn't. Otherwise, the game ran fine, so no need to switch to it.
Game seems to work perfectly for about 5 minutes, and then the screen freezes, goes black, or the game crashes. Other versions of proton didn't seem to fix this.
There are a few occasions where the text is small and difficult to read. These moments are rare, and the text is very readable otherwise.
