Anticheat - runtime hack detected
Will launch, but anticheat will flag for runtime hack and force close.
Works flawless.
If you get stuck at syncing mods, go back to the launcher click on the workshop and agree to the terms.

Mouse input might not stay captive to window in borderless mode.
standard Anti-Aliasing does nothing, post AA and FSR do work. Textures may take time to load in, so not considering them missing (not sure if this is normal on windows).
Nothing outside of current netcode problems with the game.
Tested with current proton, and Glorious Eggroll Proton 8.20

Didn't need to fuss with anything, seems to run perfectly fine at high settings. Loading assets may take a bit longer, but not sure if that's just Beam.NG or not
Runs perfectly out of the box, Punkbuster won't update but most servers don't use PB anymore. If you do need PB support just download an archive of the files here and put it in /steamapps/common//PB/ folder : https://community.pbbans.com/files/file/94-call-of-duty-4-windows/
Actually using the GoG version and using Proton Beta 3.16-6 as a runner in Lutris.
Left the game running at default graphics settings, framerate was ok. Disable Depth of Field and Shadows to easily increase FPS.

Broken Anticheat
Ended up refunding this one. Prior to the latest patch, it was playable. It was possible to sometimes get a working match after a couple kicks, but otherwise not a great experience.
Works perfectly out of the box. (I am already using a US Keyboard layout, so no tweaking required here.)
Platinum tier performance, however the game doesn't cleanly exit. You may have to kill HMM.exe via a terminal.
Anticheat Violation
Didn't need to do anything to get it running, no errors on menus & can join matches.
Seems to be ok overall, though it gets really choppy whenever there is video playing on another monitor. I don't see this behaviour with other WINE+DXVK / Proton games.

Cannot play on EAC servers, Can only play on non-EAC servers. Quick Play did send me to a non-EAC server on it's own.

Does Run, but you won't be able to join any server that uses EAC, which limits you to private games with anticheat disabled.
Ultra settings 1080P, does take a little bit to actually load up but no performance impact is noticeable with this configuration. Stable at 144FPS.
Generally works, some minor issues with audio clicking, could just be my PulseAudio config needing a restart.
Requires Kron4ek's FAudio Builds to get voices working (https://github.com/Kron4ek/FAudio-Builds/releases/) run the installer using ( WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/489830/pfx bash ./wine_setup_faudio.sh ) from the directory you extract the archive from. Still audio crackling and popping in-game, not sure why.

Tweak the UT2004.ini (created on launch) in the System folder to use OpenGL instead of D3D. Disable 'reduce input latency' in-game.
Account server down, no custom loadouts.
