Run the following command to install additional components:
protontricks 35140 mdx d3dx9 d3dcompiler_43
I noticed a little performance degradation compared to the Windows version. But nothing disruptive.
Opening the Steam overlay crashes the game.
You cannot change the brightness.
FPS drops during the elevator drives.
I experienced 1 crash during my 15+ hours playthrough
Game crashes a few seconds after it has launched at the opening credits.
Initially I tried Proton 7.0-3 but it didn't play the cut scene when opening the journal to go to the past. After I switched to GE's Proton it worked flawlessly.
Taking screenshots with the photo mode causes the game to freeze for a few seconds.
Multiplayer with Proton 5.13-6 worked perfectly for me despite others claimed it did not for them.
When I've started the game for the first time a part of the screen was invisible. But you can still open the settings to fix it. I switched to window mode, set my correct screen resolution, then back to fullscreen mode and it worked. If you don't see the button to save your setting you can use your arrow keys to navigate to the bottom and then press enter.
There is a VRAM leak which causes the game to crash once the memory is full. Noticeable in longer sessions.
Use the dx11_non-rt Beta. The normal Version causes performance problems. Use GE-Proton to avoid a video playback error with normal Proton.

When hovering with your mouse over the options in the settings the FPS drop.
You need to install the Proton BattlEye Rutime (Search in your library for it and install it like a normal game) After this installation you can start The Cylce. No launch options required.
Also the game is playable with the normal Proton (tested with Proton 7.0-2) but the intro video is not playing that way.
A few non disruptive artifacts. Could be caused by FSR.
My video settings did not save between PC reboots. Everything else saves without problems.
