Sometimes the game either freezes or crashes to desktop, but not really a showblocker since the game saves constantly and no progress gets lost.
The Engine seems to run o.k. on proton just like the Witcher III did, however you want to have more than 4 GB GPU RAM.

Mostly crashes happen when video memory gets filled to 100%, on medium settings the game runs ok.
Tried previous mentioned tweak. Game does not start up.
Used Proton 3.16-5 Beta - for Elite Dangerous from https://github.com/redmcg/wine/releases

Is running out of the box for me, just mentioning i had ms-ttf-corefonts already installed on my system
Borked on almost every Proton Version tried.

Not Playable
Game does not remember display settings.
Only gave gold because online mode does not work, otherwise platinum. Mouse movement on map is a bit jiggery.
The frequent crashing made this more a torture as an enjoyable experience.
Does not start up at all, stops at installing .NET 2.0
