An epic adventure with amazing visuals, engaging combat and convoluted plots awaits you with decent performance.
Performance via proton was great, however there are some issues with the PC port itself. I encountered some screen tearing issues with vsync and the libra results cut off which where remedied by the FF13 Fix (https://github.com/rebtd7/FF13Fix). Other than that the game ran flawlessly at 1440p from beginning to end.

Ran great from start to finish
Only saves graphical settings when quit from the window menu, force quitting since there's no in-game quit restores default settings. Probably a game quirk and not a Proton issue

Woks fine. Can't change Screen and Shadow Resolution. To fix slowdowns when loading, use "Compatibility > Proton 7.0-6"
The memory leak when playing in fullscreen on Windows 10/11 versions doesn't seem to be present in this version. For gamepad inputs ingame, "Settings > On-Screen Buttons Explanation > Controller Buttons"

Plays okay. Cutscene pauses are annoying but tolerable. A fair amount of preperation may be needed.
In-game 30 FPS cap
This game started in 1920x1080 resolution, causing the bottom and right sections of the image to be cut off, making the game unplayable. Forcing 1280x720 res in the game's Steam properties didn't fix it.
The only fix is to run the game in dektop mode, using a mouse and keyboard controller profile. Then you can access the settings drop-down menu and change the resolution to 1280x720, along with any other graphics options.
There is a substantial deadzone for the analog sticks. Approx 8000 anti-deadzone in controller settings is needed to eliminate it.
Runs smoothly except for brief hitching when entering new areas, along with a substantial amount of half-second "pauses" during most in-engine cutscenes. The latter happen most often at camera angle changes, and generally do not occur in the same cutscenes on successive playthroughs, so possibly a shader compilation issue.

The game runs perfectly with a solid 30FPS thoughout most of the game. A few areas caused a dip to mid-20s FPS.
Running the game set at 1920x1080 resolution and forcing it to run at 1280x720 in Steam.
Added turbo A to the triggers
By default running the game at 1280x720 produces horribly scaled text, with some small text nearly unreadable. Running with the following tweaks corrects this issue.
Rarely the audio has crackling after the Deck is put to sleep while playing. Restarting the game corrects the issue.
Launcing the game at 1280x720 produces horrible text scaling. Launching at 1920x1080 on the deck screen fixes the text but causes improper aspect ratio (1280x800). Forcing the game to run at 1280x720 from within Steam corrects the aspect. Be sure to select "External and Internal Screen".

Runs better than native
At first the game was stuttering a lot, but it gradually decreased over time
The game displays keyboard buttons while using a controller
When the game is started without a network connection, it hangs on the Square Enix screen for several minutes. After booting, it plays normally with or without a network connection.
By default the game displays keyboard keys for all controls. There is an option in the settings menu to switch to displaying controller button prompts instead which makes things much more intuitive.
It works with a little bit of frame drops.
Some frame drops.
ONLY IF YOU INSTALL IT WITH D9VK on LUTRIS AND USE PROTON at the same time
Controllers have no been detected until lutris was envolved
Use Lutris installer after you install it on steam and only run the game through lutris's D9VK (or DXVK, whatever the more recent version of it) in order to have the game achieve 60fps or more. If you try and use purely proton with steam the game will lock on a very disappointing 24 fps. SO PAY ATTENTION, go to lutris installer, after you've downloaded the game on steam and have the game be "installed" there as well.
Use D9VK and PROTON

Disabling Esync speeds up loading times, but they're still unbearably long. Note that changing the framerate to "variable" instead of "fixed" greatly increases the loading speed, but a bug with the contextual menu prevents this mode from being playable.
Awfully slow loading times or bugged contextual menus...
Disable esync and use d9vk for better experience. With esync the initial Square Enix screen just freezes. Also tested with a Xbox One controller without problems.
Use of D9VK. Small stutters when loading new areas.
Run perfectly out of the box

Crashes during intro movies without Wine D9vk being set. Runs perfectly with a lot better performance than FFXIII & FFXIII-2. Disabling Esync greatly decrease the load times, but introduces incredibly bad lag spikes when camera changes all the way down to 1 FPS so I would suggest leaving it on.

Worked perfectly without extra setup. Runs perfect using WINED3D9, also with vulkan D9VK

starts with some delay and still 20 seg on logo Square Enix, when giving new game the keyboard or the command stops responding and to give load game happens the same, only works the keyboard ESC to exit the game.

The game installed fine without any tweaks whatsoever. The loading times are a tiny bit longer than with Windows. As for performance, it's great, haven't had any crashes or any significant issues. There was sometimes lagging and low frame rates but I had it on Windows 10 too. All in all it was about the exact same as with Windows 10 excluding the increased loading times. So yeah I have to give this title a Platinum rating!

Full playthrough. Loading times can be a bit long sometimes. Doesn't happen with esync disabled, but then I get quite bad performance. Runs perfectly fine otherwise. The loading times however are never THAT long, so I'd recommend to just stick with the out-of-the-box configuration. Here's a snippet: https://youtu.be/N3qaliGrl2o

I played it without any tweaks or something like that. After an hour or something like that, the Audio started to crackle and had a bit noise. Also several graphical lags appeared, but that can be written off by my old graphics card. But the game is still platinum.

works perfectly without any tweaks, however some lags sometimes

Unlike the other two FFXIII games, this actually runs. If you don't disable Esync the game will stay on a Square Enix logo forever. The game seems to be losing focus quite often and requires me to switch to another window and then back to it to regain said focus (I'm using KDE.)

things just run, game runs as good (with same bugs too...) as windows.

The game runs flawlessly out of the box, there is a minor performance hit but the game is quite playable

No noticeable issues from a few minutes of gameplay near the beginning.

everything appeared to work fine, load times could be very slow at times.
