Reviewing for Vice City Next Gen Edition standalone mod, shoutout to Gizzburt on the Deck subreddit for a guide
Required for DirectX and Visual C++ downloads
10 watts @ 45 hz clocked at 1000 mhz
Most during heavy traffic and outside cutscenes with open background scenery
Only during intro cutscenes; skipping the first three to get to the late title card bypassed the crash
I personally kept my battery settings at default, so that of course is optional with all my settings set either on or at high with x16 AF and all the sliders set at 50. Here is other information or steps Gizzburt wrote in their post: This guide aims to help install the game without ENB in order to gain performance, battery life and stability. This guide will require the use of ProtonTricks and ProtonUpQT that are available in the Discover and the resources found in the Redist folder, located in the setup folder. (Having torrented it, I was able to get the files needed on Microsoft's website.)
- Add LaunchGTAIV.exe as a non-Steam game.
- Choose either Proton GE or Experimental for compatibility.
- Launch the executable through Steam to generate the compatibility layer; the game should crash when attempting to boot.
- Select the non-Steam game with ProtonTricks.
- Choose "Select the default wineprefix", hit OK and repeat with "Run explorer."
- Use the file browser window that popped up to navigate to the Redist folder (ex. Gizzburt's computer > (Z:) > Home > Deck) and double click to setup vcredist_x86.exe; repeat with the DirectX Web setup.exe.
- Navigate to the games files location to move to trash (or backup) the d3d9.dll file.
- Navigate to data_launch/enb/del_enb/ and copy:
- gtaRainRender.xml
- gtaStormRender.xml
- visualsettings.dat to overwrite in the common/data/ folder,
- timecycl.dat and all four timecyclemodifiers.dat files to overwrite in the pc/data folder, and
- fx_rain.wtd
- lightsoccluders.wtd
- skydome.wtd
- stipple.wtd to overwrite in the pc/textures folder.

10w TDP
Works great OOTB you can play this game start to finish as installed however installing DXVK does help. Limited TDP to 10W with DXVK results in 2hours+ run time. Very enjoyable.

Made L4 press the X key to turn off the radio
Medium settings, no night shadows, Tri-Linear filtering, 25 view distance & detail distance, 35 vehicle density
All audio stopped coming out of the left speaker. A game restart fixed it
I used IV Downgrader to downgrade the game to version 1.0.7.0. This is the guide I followed (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2795496594). Add the downgrader as a non-steam game and use proton experimental on it. Be sure to do this in desktop mode since you'll need to get the path of GTA IV to downgrade it. I personally selected all mods except for the trainer. I would recommend to at least select the xliveless mod to bypass RGL, so you never have to deal with it again.

Medium settings, default distance and density
Rockstar launcher login
No idea what people are on about with the R* launcher not working. Works fine, better performance than I expected. Definitely an enjoyable experience.

I tried different proton versions(Experimental, 9.0, GE 9-2, and 7.0.6), and verifying game files. it just gets stuck on "Running install script ()"

switching windows version doesnt save or work
Game is completely unplayable and no longer supported on deck, windows 7/8 support has ended and using proton tricks to change windows version to 10/11 won't save or work, tested with 9.0 beta and ge 9.2
сохранения много не сохраняли всё, что надо. прыжки и голуби иногда могли пропасть

Using right trackpad as directional swipe dpad
40fps

binded some common actions to back buttons
reduced wattage to 8w and fps cap to 40fps
on rare occasions the game would lock up when waking the deck up from sleep and would require the deck to be rebooted

was able to play from start to finish at 60fps default settings with no issues

Runs really nicely AS LONG as you use DXVK. It's a must have for GTA4, and turns it from a stuttery mess to a great experience.
Set vsync at 30fps, and dropped APU wattage to 15w
Make sure you download DXVK from GitHub and drop it into the game's folder. You'll have a far better experience as the game won't stutter every few minutes. Installed to the SD card without any asset loading issues. I limited FPS to 30, and dropped the APU wattage to 15w and still managed to get a stutter-free solid 30fps with great battery life.

Aside from Rockstar's god-awful launcher, the game ran flawlessy. I was able to fully complete the main game and both of the DLCs unimpaired
Rockstar's shitty launcher, on several occasions, caused the game to unexpectedly exit on startup, causing me to have to start it again through Steam.
When playing offline, saves would magically disappear. Lost hours of progress due to this. Keep an eye on your saves, people!
Past the shit-covered curtain of Rockstar's cancerous launcher lies a fantastic game.
50hz gives 3-4 hours of battery life
Previously 3-4 months ago the game worked fine with issue. No graphical bugs. Rockstar pushed out an update and now it's not playable on SD
Shimmering constantly along diagonal length of screen. Not playable.
Rockstar put out an update in the last few months that has broken the game and causes constant glitching graphically.
7 TDP 40hz, all on high settings
On first launch the Rockstar launcher crashed. Hasn't happened since but it's still annoying to be forced through the launcher every time I launch the game.
Runs well. Arguably better than it would on newer versions of Windows, since I didn't need to install GTA AIO or anything of the style. Social club launcher is garbage but it's not a problem overall. I would recommend lowering the refresh rate to 40 for compatibility reasons, it appears smoother even though it is able to run 60 fps.
Auto-save only seems to be a checkpoint system, if you exit the game without doing a full save where you sleep at a safehouse, it doesn't seem to recognise the auto-saves as having happened.
I completed the game 100% and had only a few issues, though they were major ones in that the final mission can't be completed on 60 FPS and auto-saves don't actually auto-save. Other than that, works well on the deck.
traffic cones sund bad when hit.
pc servers non existent.
turn fsr on and turn in game resolution down to 1152x720 60hz. I also installed ivaio from github.com/aefly/IVAIO
use touch screen for rockstar launcher.
servers non-existent
game runs almost constant 60 on medium settings.

Runs great. I know this game is pretty old but it thrilled me to see this high-end 360 game running well on a portable.
Enabled 4GB RAM usage as described in PCGamingWiki
40Hz refresh. This also, weirdly, smoothed out cutscenes, which look more juddery at 60Hz. I am guessing it forces interpolation if it's not at 60?
Rockstar launcher is irritating, but you can get past it.
Runs acceptably by default but worth tinkering to get the most out of it. Graphics settings can be upped especially at 40Hz. Mods for restoring removed content, and papering over other bugs are worthwhile.
Changed screen refreshrate to 40hz and framerate lock to 40fps
Set to low / medium, set screen refresh rate to 40 and lowered the TDP to 8W.
Played about 1 hour of Lost and Danmed without issues. This game engine is better suited to between 30 and 60 FPS, the same as the consoles that this game was focused. So i've compromised at 40 FPS / 40 Hz although looks perfectly playable at 60 but it will eat more battery. Settings where set mostly to low (again, to conserve battery) but the Deck has the firepower to go way beyond those settings at the expense of battery life but I don't think thats worth with this game, it doesn't look that great at higher settings even on a powerful system. At those settings total system draw was about 11W and it was very stable.
Unable to complete final mission. Unable to climb into helicopter.
im in the process of 100%ing the game, bugs were few and far between and not rage inducing.
at times keyboard and mouse input was prioritized when in the menu, which made navigating it with a controller very annoying because it would not register my B input to exit the menu, instead i had to hit the start button to exit the menu
if i put the deck to sleep while playing GTA IV, sometimes when i wake it up the game will run no higher than 28 frames, not capped but just not running well at all. sometimes putting the deck back to sleep and waking it up again fixes the problem, sometimes you have to fully restart the game
other than the weirdness with putting the deck into sleep, and the menu bugging out and not accepting my inputs. nothing else
Improved battery life by setting TDP Limit to 8W and screen refresh rate to 45 Hz.
By default the game has a lot of aliasing, i suggest to set the screen resolution for the game to 1600x1000, it did not have a huge impact on performance but the game will look a lot better. 60 fps, even with unlocked TDP, are very unstable (i think it's a game problem). I recommend to stay around 40-45 (which are pretty stable) and get a battery life improvements. For the graphical settings, i used the default ones with night shadows disabled.
Runs very well on default preset on 60 fps wtih small dips here and there for a second but it is 99.9% on 60. Battery life shows over 3h from full charge
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput=n,b" %command%
Installed script hook and restored removed music
Locked the game to 45 fps.
At times the stick would drift up - hitting the steam button and then going back to the game seems to fix it. (minor)
VSync Off
With the exception of Custom Music not working at all (will crash the game) and some weird zooming during certain cutscenes, I was able to play from start to finish at 60fps stable . All things considered, it was a fantastic experience. Aside from turning VSync Off, I left the default visual settings as is. Battery life is ~2.5 hours at best.

Linux simply is not mod friendly. having trouble getting legacy trianer mod too work when it uses the same files that rdr2 and gta 5.
