Applied this fix https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/2065#issuecomment-845347247. Simply replace the dxgi.dll.so with the new one and done.
Stutters in the beginning, but gets better later on. This seems also to be an issue on windows.
Videos (those for each class) do not work with native proton. GloriousEggroll's Proton (Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF, not 5.9 since that doesn't start missions) however plays them without any issues. It's not a huge deal because those videos don't actually add too much, but yea.
I don't know how people can rate this platinum or gold. If you don't have the mfplat.dll workaround, the game will crash whenever you try to upgrade your abilites and you hover over those. The video wants to start playing, it can't. As soon as you want to leave the upgrade screen, the game crashes. Audio desync in cutscenes if the fps drop. Not a huge deal but it's still an issue. Animation speed seems to be tied to the fps. So if your fps go down to 30 fps, the game runs at half speed. At this time I really can't recommend getting it. At least until the mfplat.dll issue is fixed. But even then it's hardly enjoyable if the animation speed varies like crazy.
Had to change the resolution setting in the render.cfg as already mentioned. To use the controller I had to enable the steam controller implementation. Didn't work without that.
Performance is comparable to the windows version but since the windows version also performs badly, you'll have to downgrade your graphics settings accordingly. FAR Mod which gave a performance boost under windows does not work via proton.
Runs great. The only issue (apparently) is that videos don't work. Though they are irrelevant, very rare and very short (no story or anything).
The initial loading of the game takes a bit and the first time running stutters a whole lot. Unfortunately also during cutscenes. Though this is clearly the shader cache. Playing it the second time makes it buttery smooth
Everything runs flawlessly outside of the cutscenes. To make the cutscenes work, use https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install, a very simple and easy workaround. Some videos might not run the first time you encounter them.
Ran the trial with ACO. If you REALLY want to play it, you can absolutely do so. Runs out of the box and the performance is (outside of parts with many people) pretty good actually.
BUT: There is a noticeable stuttering going on. Not constantly, but every now and then. Cutscenes can get choppy at times. Sound in these can(!) be async as well. In areas where many people run around, the framerates tank heavily (down to ~20 fps).
Playable? Absolutely, but you'll notice some minor issues -> only silver rating
Runs perfectly with great performance (max settings = constant 60+ fps, only ever stutters while loading or at the very beginning of a level(the latter stops after 2-3 seconds)), runs both with d9vk and wined3d (it's a directx 9 game)
Gameplay-wise everything runs perfectly and very smooth. Both D9vk and wine3d are working without an issue. Cutscenes do not work though. The game doesn't crash (so you can still play) but skips them.
Cutscenes do run if you use this workaround https://github.com/Nonecaster/mf-install (first cutscene of the first game doesn't run here, don't know if that's just on my machine though). The link might get taken down because of copyright/patent issues.
Controller didn't work correctly during battles (xbox360)
If you use GloriousEggroles proton version, it would be gold rated. Unfortunately you still have to have a controller plugged in or have the xboxdrv service running. Otherwise it will crash after a short period of time. If you don't use that proton version, you won't hear voices (sound effects etc. work fine, just not the voices) + you still have to have a controller plugged in (or xboxdrv bla). Other than that it works great.
