Just need to select a fullscreen resolution and enable Vsync, and it will be a smooth 60fps.
Framepacing is terrible unless Vsync is enabled, which requires fullscreen.
Game runs awful. Lags every time a bullet is fired. Probably related to Radeon drivers, I don't remember this happening with GTX1060.
Game lags hard every time you or an enemy shoots
Crashes often
Game always had performance problems when shooting bullets, and is playable, but it's much worse on Proton with Radeon/RADV.
Seems to have unplayably bad stutters. Funny thing is, it worked a few years back, but now, any version of proton seems to have problems.
Works fine for a while, and then begins to stutter whenever handling collisions. Every bullet, every jump or land, falling onto things, all cause short hitches of 100ms or more.
Runs like garbage
Game drops to 10~20fps when using suit powers, jumping, landing, being hit, or firing a weapon. Previously worked fine. Not sure what updated to break it.
Seriously runs like hot garbage. Seems to be related to xorg? Switching focus actually improves framerates up to 30, so possibly input or broken compositor hooks.
Unplayable.
Mouse inputs freeze the game. Mouse movement is made inconsistent.
Moving the mouse freezes the game. Resumes when the mouse stops, and does register the input, but the graphics completely stop whenever the mouse is moving, and the input isn't registered very accurately.
exec $"wine {@/kaguraD15}"
The game can lag badly at times, but it may just be the game is that way. Most of the game is very smooth and normal.
System wine now seems to run these games fine, but Proton cannot display the game environment and only the sprites show up on a black screen when you reach the dungeon. Also, the portraits do not show up correctly and only text shows in cutscenes in Proton.
exec "wine {@/kaguraD17}"
The game is laggy for what it is, but it could just be the game. Menu-sama can be very slow to open sometimes.
Proton and Proton-GE have trouble rendering the dungeon graphics. System WINE seems to work correctly. Not sure why.
exec $"wine {@/kaguraD16}"
The game has poor performance at times, but it may just be that the game is like that. Most of it runs very smooth.
It works well in system Wine, but not in Proton. In Proton, the environment is black and only sprite graphics show up.
The game requires d3d9_43.dll, either via protontricks, winetricks, or grabbing the appropriate file from the game's demo, available off-steam.
Small amounts of audio stutters. possibly unrelated to the game.
If only the game packed the appropriate d3dx9_43.dll in the game's root folder, everything would be perfect OOB.
Doesn't work with Proton Experimental. Very broken graphics, and randomly opens a secondary video playback window with nothing in it.
Game runs like hot garbage at the best of times. This is also the case on Windows version post-XP.
Can crash, especially when alt-tabbing.
It may work fine on Proton 7 or 6 versions, but not experimental, and older versions were very broken.
It works fine to start and play a session. Changing settings or losing focus when fullscreen is dangerous, but otherwise game is stable.
MANGOHUD=1 RADV_TEX_ANISO=16 gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 2560 -H 1440 %command%
Audo channel disappears on focus loss.
Game can crash when focus is lost in full screen mode, ie alt tab will crash the game. Doesn't happen during the very early startup.
Frames sometimes come out of order, may not be proton related.
Using gamescope tricks the game into keeping focus all the time, which allows the audio channel to stay open. Using this, you can bind the audio to OBS capture with helvum or qpgraph for clean recording.
It just doesn't work most of the time. When it works, it's fine, and anyone would think it's just like native.
Worked fine the first time, and every time thereafter, if the game starts at all, there is no audio in-game.
Frequently doesn't start at all.
If it actually worked normally consistently, it would be fine, but it seems to be borking it's self rather consistently.
Mostly works without issue, but may become buggy over time; restarting the application seems to solve any issues.
Usually works fine, but can sometimes have a variety of minor issues
Sometimes inputs are delayed or briefly ignored. Happens rarely.
Crashed while viewing the museum; might become unstable over long playsessions.
3 chapters in, and no significant bugs; might have some issues with garbage collection on illustrated cutscenes, as viewing the museum can be unstable.
Turn based game, performance problems are workable, and it could be that nvidia gpus are fine.
3D sections run terribly on RDNA2 desktop GPUs, but work fine on the steamdeck. Very odd.
It worked fine on a 1060 6gb with a ryzen 2600, but not great on 6700xt with 5900x. But it works even better on the deck than any of these configurations? Very strange.
Out of box experience is playable if unremarkable framerates. Adding AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command% in launch options resolves performance problem
AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command%
Recent patches to Mesa RadeonSI drivers in 23.0.1 resolve the SAM/ReBAR extreme performance regressions. Works great out of box and better with launch option.
RADV_TEX_ANISO=16 %command%
After long play-sessions(30min+), the game begins to stutter very badly.
The issue persists across multiple versions of Proton, and it does take a while to begin. Restarting the game fixes the stutter.
Basically works like native, but config and mod files are stored in the prefix, and can likely be annoying for a novice to find.
Sometimes, .ini config files reset or don't save correctly, or older configs end up loaded somehow when modified. Might be isolated case.
Using mapmixer and tons of custom maps, runs great. Just as good as Windows, maybe better.
If you can get it running, it's a fun romp for a little while. The update process will require reinstalling the game, though.
Crackling in various places, especially the Orbiter.
Some graphical effects are broken or missing.
Input is tied to framerate, and framepacing is very very poor at times. Mouse input can be frustrating when making precise movement.
regular stutters and hitches made worse on the new graphics engine, at very regular intervals. significant other framerate problems in many areas.
Game will eventually destabilize and crash during loading.
Eventually, certain features start to break, such as sorting warframes or weapons by usage, or many UI elements. UI can become unresponsive when switching windows; minimizing the and restoring the window can fix this. May be game related; not tested on windows in some time.
Update process hangs at checking for new content. Logs report that it can't find the executable. Game requires reinstall and reupdate to the latest version from an older, working launcher that only works in Proton 4.11-3.
Mouse cursor sits over the game while you play, but it doesn't seem to impact gameplay. It's just very distracting.
Mouse cursor appears while in game/combat.
