Great with Proton GE 6.21 (not 8), Windowed mode to reduce crashes, and custom controller bindings.
Custom bindings to match game keyboard controls
Music fixed by Proton GE 6. No music with GE 8.
Game crashed every so often in Fullscreen. Windowed seems to fix crashes, and looks the same anyway on Steam Deck, Game mode.

Doesn't work with Proton Experimental. Very broken graphics, and randomly opens a secondary video playback window with nothing in it.
Game runs like hot garbage at the best of times. This is also the case on Windows version post-XP.
Can crash, especially when alt-tabbing.
It may work fine on Proton 7 or 6 versions, but not experimental, and older versions were very broken.
Missing music.
No music.
Game is still playable despite the missing music.
Setting a TDP limit of <10 is recommended as the game stresses the cpu with no discernable benefit. (performance issues still occur)
BGM does not play on proton 7.0 for both normal Proton and GE. Using Proton 6 GE fixes this issue.
Analog input is extremely sensitive in menus on default settings w/ Xbox controllers. Enabling "Analog Gamepad Use" in Analog Gamepad Setup in the options fixes this. (this is also an issue when running the game in windows)
Magic Spells can lower the frame rate by up to 45fps depending on graphical settings and intensity.
Recommend setting graphical settings to Low to mitigate performance issues caused by spells.
When trying to play this wonderful game on linux some years back and it was totally unplayable. When trying to play it some time last year Proton GE was neeed to play it since it would not work with any of the valve provided proton versions. I played it today in 2022 and it just worked. This is just wonderful.
Some small crackling in the audio every now and then, nothing major, it's not something constant, and I only experienced it a couple of times during my 2 hour play session. Hey! At least we have music now!
If you play in Zoom Mode when alt-tabbing, once you come back to the game there will be heavy artifacts that distort the game, making it completely unplayable, you will need to restart. Play either in Fullscreen or Windowed mode
Heavy artifacts when using Zoom Mode.
If you use a DS4 it won't be detected at all, doesn't matter if you connect it through bluetooth or USB, using steam input as an input wrapper won't work either, doesn't matter if you use it as a. Only XBOX1 pads seem to be recognized properly, the analogue stick is WAAAY to sensitive in the menus, but that's a problem present under windows too, it's the game's fault.
Small performance drop when using Fullscreen mode, during scene transitions or during certain effects, there was a small slowdown, nothing too major, completely playable.
Considering the hoops you have to go through in Windows to make it playable, which still has a high chance of it not working as intended due to retro-compatibility with whatever libraries the game is using being dropped from W10, Linux is definitely easier, and the best way to play your obscure weeb game nobody even knows.
No background music
Runs about as well as on Windows. default controller mappings are strange and needed to be set manually, which I recall being an issue on Windows as well.
The font look a little too thin. But aside from that, it runs perfectly.
no music, Font spacing is off
No background music (sound effects work)
