No problems at all. Works perfectly out of the box.
Zero issues playing with friends on windows too.
Populated, playable, and safe servers will not allow you to play due to Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) blocking you.
You would be able to play with bots offline, but not much else. During my searching I couldn't find any servers to play on. You may be able to find a non-EAC server. But, these servers are likely to lack players or have players who are cheating. These severs could also, fairly easily, run arbitrary code on your machine.
The game was basically built around multiplayer, so although you can lauch it, view the menus, and play with bots, I would consider it broken.
Game does not function
I attempted all permutations of the following commands, proton versions and lauch modes: "gamemoderun", "mangohud" commands, Proton Experimental, Proton 9.0-1 and Proton 8.0-5, Direct 11, Direct 12 and Safe Mode. Every permutation. Nothing worked.
The game lauches to a black screen, then nothing else happens. Currently not playable on my system, despite a number of attempts at finding settings that worked (see tinkering steps).
Used Lutris to intall Rockstar Games Launcher (version Standalone-1.0.36.344).
This can be found here, but it is easy to install from Lutris itself by:
- Click "Add Game"
- Click "Search to Lutris website for installers"
- Search "Rockstar Games Launcher"
- Install "Rockstar Games Launcher" (version Standalone-1.0.36.344)
No problems when playing Red Dead Online.
You need to install Lutris, then from Lutris install Rockstar Games Launcher. It's very important that this version is marked "Standalone-1.0.36.344 version" as the newer versions no longer install. The problem is with the install of the software, not with the software itself, once this version has installed it will update to the newest version.
Besides that, the game works perfectly with no issues, Red Dead Online also works fantastically.
Works right out of the box.
Works perfectly when I play with friends.
No problems at all. Plays identical to windows.
No problems
Works right out of the box. I only played a few naval battles, but I had no issues at all.
Runs out of the box (with some minor quirks)
No difference when compared to Windows 10.
Runs out of the box, with some very minor visual oddies for other programs that are running when you alt+tab to another window. For example, Konsole, my console program would display graphical elements of the file browsing program that I had up. But, nothing that affects game play and nothing that sticks around once the game is closed. I can't even verify this was due to the game running, and I've only noticed it happen once.
Other than this, the game works exactly as you would expect right out of the box.
