I forget why i used GE but it should be fine without
-nolauncher
Add the no launcher command if it doesn't work for you. I wasn't able to interact with it so I disabled it.
Linux Port sucks plain and simple. Doesnt run good enough performance and Quality of Life wise.
gamemoderun %command% -vulkan -novid -high -nojoy -refresh 120 -threads 12 -maxMem=8192 +fps_max 120 +engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick +mat_queue_mode 2
Fullscreen and stuff is bad on hyprland. Also can't play in 4:3 ratio.
High FPS but many stutters and frampacing sucks.
Major stuttering and frame pacing issues. I also can't play 4:3 on Hyprland.
If you have Half-Life 2, Copy ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Half-Life 2/bin/libmimalloc.so to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Source/bin
Rename exisiting libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4 to libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4~ to backup. Then rename libmimalloc.so to libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4
Maybe its possible to get a specific gperftool version but I tried using the gperftool package on nix and couldnt get it to work. Maybe other Source Games have the same file as Half-Life 2.
Easy Anti Cheat is incompatible with Linux
It runs perfectly, just can't connect online
Runs Great With Proton! Sadly the Native Linux Port Has Some Problems.
Once I used proton everything worked perfectly, but with the native port I had sensitivity and resolution issues. I would try both and see which works best.
STEAMDECK=1 gamemoderun %command%
Can't tell if its Linux or the Game, but rarely when attacking certain mobs the audio gets washed out for specific audio tracks but not all of them.
Seemed to run just fine Natively and using Vulkan
Not sure about others setups, but mine worked perfectly.
I tried using GE-Proton9-9, GE-Proton9-10, Proton Experimental, Proton 9.0-2, Proton 8.0-5 and all did not work :(
Gotta install windows finally lol, hopefully in the coming weeks it becomes compatible.
Great Fighting Game On Linux
Has no stupid anticheat, has mods, great online, moddable, great game
Runs great on NixOS with this patch just like other Distros, just getting generic binaries to work is confusing.
NixOS Installation Process
Install https://github.com/solsticegamestudios/GModCEFCodecFix to any directory.
Switch to x86-64 - Chromium + 64bit binaries in the beta section of the games properties.
On NixOS, running generic Linux binaries doesn't work, so in order to patch your game you need to use https://github.com/thiagokokada/nix-alien
You can either download the program to your system or use the quick start guide. I used the quick start guide and used the command
nix --extra-experimental-features "nix-command flakes" run github:thiagokokada/nix-alien -- ~/{DIRECTORY TO PATCHER}/GModCEFCodecFix-Linux
- Game should patch properly and then now you can launch Garry Mod Natively on NixOS!
Classic That Runs Perfectly OOTB Natively on Linux!
Very fun game and awesome that it runs great natively.
Gotta Love Native Games
My Game Crashed Twice I think
Besides 2 crashes It ran great! Not sure why it crashed but I also stream and use Hyprland so who knows if it was the game or something else.
Everything Was Perfect Until I got Banned 2 Matches Into Playing.
I played two games and it worked flawlessly, but then I was banned for 2 days... Dunno why but thats easy anti-cheat for ya.
Ran great, got banned from matchmaking after two games :D
gamemoderun %command% -novid -vulkan
Def a polished game and it's nice that it's native!
Great Souls-Like Game. Love that is runs past 60fps!
Definitely a standard for games that run good on Linux
Ran Fine to me. Nice because before I switched to NixOS it didn't run for me so I'm a happy camper
cant really tell but something felt off with the audio
gamemoderun %command%
I love native games! Only thing was I couldn't see a list of resolutions in the video settings. But it was defaulted at 1440p so I didn't mind.
gamemoderun %command% -high -novid -nojoy -refresh 120 -freq 120 -tickrate 128 -console -vulkan -noborder -nohltv -precachefontchars
runs great
Music is missing. There is a fix, but I don't feel like doing it at the moment.
Fps issues at certain points in the game but still playable.
It's fun.
