Fix for missing music
- Install qsynth
- Download a soundfont. Below are downloads for some.
- I used Timbres Of Heaven
- Extract the contents anywhere ( hopefully somewhere tidy )
- Open qsynth, click setup... ( far left, above the + ), soundfonts, open...
- Select the sf2 file, click ok then yes to restart.
- Music will now work as long as you play Arena with qsynth open.
- Optionally, in the Master Gain, set the volume from 100 to 25 as 100 is really loud. However, doing this made the cutscenes really quiet for me rather the lowering the volume using the desktop. But I am not 100% sure this is the cause.

- ^ This guide has more detailed instructions but the guide is not for Arena.
No music on the default installation.
27 fps on average with some frame drops.
- steamapps/common/The Elder Scrolls Arena/DOSBox-0.74/
- arena.conf. Changed 'cycles=fixed 20000' to 50000
- This boosted the fps. 40000 might be more reasonable.
- This report could be a lot better explained and more detailed. But I am bad with tech and not smart.

Music is missing. There is a fix, but I don't feel like doing it at the moment.

For music to work I installed Timidity++ with the FluidR3 soundfront(instructions in 3rd comment : https://steamcommunity.com/app/410710/discussions/0/1742226629876612529/)
Now music works without problems.

Couldn’t start, stuck at "running"
Game would not start, Steam would only show the game as "Running" with no window. Tried both modes, tried several Proton versions incl. GE.
Attempting to run the bat scripts with wine
returned a "page fault on read access" unhandled exception.
Works perfectly fine
if you dont mind some audio missing then youll enjoy it
No music audio at all
Low base resolution makes stylized font harder to read
Game requires stick/mouse movement and cursor for selection
Originally being for DOS, game isn't exactly smooth, but is playable
If you can get around the DOS era jank and work with the outdated controls, you'll find enjoyable; most people would rather play one of the newer Elder Scrolls.
No music is not great, but some people remove the music to increase performance of the game on DOSBOX
No music
The lack of music is jarring.
No music. All other audio present
I've seen no tinker fix for this problem.
Mouse border would move sometimes, but moving back and forth would fix it.
Works good (tested window mode)
Played with Proton 7.0-2 (DOSbox).

This game wowrks well on Linux With Proton!
It would be nice to have cloud saves.
Other than the issues listed here, the game works great with Proton! Highly recommended.
Audio is crackling constantly, may be more of a DOSBox thing than Proton.
Launching in Windowed mode does not work.
Mouse acceleration was strange, mouse performs normally as long as you move it slowly, but accelerates wildly if moving too quickly.
Game runs great! Some minor audio issues for me though, but still playable!
Some minor audio glitches here and there. Crackles and skips.
