Works as intended
In order to play, you have to download the EAC bypass from the "tools" section in Steam. If you do that, it's pretty much perfect.
Literally just works
Plays as Bloons multiplayer usually does
I've tried pretty much everything you can do on Steam.
Just doesn't work. As soon as you try to get into the game, you get booted. This may change in the future, it worked some months ago.
Just tinker with the proton. For me experimental, 8, and some others didn't work.
They've gone from borking it completely to just making it run without any tinkering at all.

alt tabbing would break the game sometimes (especially if I alt tab during a loading screen, that froze my PC sometimes)

So, if you just run the game without anything, you will not be able to play online. You'll get desynced. This can easily be fixed. Download ucrtbase.dll (I linked one link which you can get it from). Then, replace the "ucrtbase.dll" dll in "steamapps/compatdata/976310/pfx/drive_c/windows/system32" with the newly installed one. And then it works just fine.
Works without tweaking or anything.
If you want to play online, gotta tinker with the dll. If not, just download and enjoy.
Tinker with the proton if it doesn't work, but it should.
If it runs at 3 FPS, use GE Proton. That fixed that. However, it then began crashing on startup. This was because of shader pre-caching, turn that off in Steam settings. Then, you will be able to play as normal.

Default Proton didn't work.
The default Steam recommended Proton sometimes doesn't work. If that happens, just switch around, should work.
