Works great!
100% of my playtime is via Proton, just click and play.
Also, a minor issue... at the very very very end, after you beat the game, you're given a cutscene and there's some blank monitor displays. It seems like a video should be playing there, but doesn't. Doesn't affect normal gameplay.
Loads through the menu just fine, but can't load any maps to actually play the game. Game input seems to be stuck on "Press any key to continue."
Sound doesn't work at all. Even with installing xact. Solid performance otherwise.
Played the first two campaign levels with no issues. Seems to run like native.
Actual gameplay is perfect, but no movies will play (logo movies, and intro movie)
Certain text looks a little garbled, but not unreadable or even needed to play game.
Go to local files and rename Launcher.exe to something temporary, rename BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe, and rename the temporary file to BorderlandsGOTY.exe. Runs as good as native after that.
Crash on launch. Even tried 3.16-8 with no luck. NO_ESYNC and USE_WINED3D PROTON flags don't work either.
Had to use the arrow keys because W (move up) and A (move left) weren't working. For some reason they swapped with Q and Z. Probably was expecting a different keyboard layout, but I can't seem to find a way to change that. I use QWERTY keyboard and that's what my system is set as.
Besides that, seems to run fine. Did not test with controller.
Pops open a tiny window and then promptly crashes. None of the 3 tweaks changes anything.
Using the current Beta Proton (3.16-4), the game would not play. I could hear the intro logos playing (but the screen was completely black) and then it eventually froze and I had to force quit. I downgraded to default, since there are platinum ratings, and it worked. Upon going back to Beta Proton, the game ran fine. Maybe just rebooting Steam (which switching Proton versions required) fixed whatever issue there was?
Once I actually got into a game, however, everything ran perfectly.
After the latest alpha of the game (version 1.221), it miraculously works with no major issues. Alt-tabbing (on Cinnamon) is not handled very great, though.
I feel a typical Linux gamer would be able to handle installing the GloriousEggroll custom Proton version.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
With the latest (at time of writing) GE Proton, none of the launch options are required. Works perfectly.
Crashes After Character Select
Surprisingly, signing into Xbox Live seems to work, though.
protontricks 962130 win7
seems to fix the "crash after character select" problem I was having earlier.
I did not test multiplayer, although I was able to log into Xbox Live.
Works pretty much perfectly. Had to bump up the mouse sensitivity quite a bit because it kept stuttering, but that might just be the norm.
Can't go fullscreen at native 1920x1080, but I believe this is the case in Windows as well.
Deck builder and campaign work flawlessly. Did not test multiplayer.
Steam connect works, but after trying to launch the game nothing happens. Steam thinks the game is running, though, and shows me in game.
Silently fails first-time install of .NET framework. Stops booting up, and hitting play again attempts again.
Alt-Tabbing/switching desktops causes the keyboard to no longer input to the game, having to restart the game by killing the process seems to be the only fix. Might be specific to my WM - Cinnamon. Otherwise runs perfect.
After adding the launch option `-ignore-windows-system-certs`, it ran like a charm with no login issue.
-ignore-windows-system-certs
Without the launch option -ignore-windows-system-certs
, you cannot play the game as it won't let you log in, and without logging in, you cannot procede.
No window borders or fullscreen. Only playable in window mode. Played through to the first boss.
Tried to launch a window and crashed immediately. Had to manually kill some processes to get Steam back to a usable state, as well.
Had to set the resolution to something my monitor supported in the first screen, but I imagine that might happen to Windows as well.
Works out of the box. Just press play.
"Video" played during the intro was a blank screen.
Crashed (froze) once in 1 hour of gameplay.
Got past the "need 2.0 to install 3.5" message by protontricks 45000 dotnet20
, and it launched the launcher, but hitting "play" crashes it. Can't even get into the game menu proper.
Tries to go to a fullscreen on boot and freezes. Had to kill from command line. Tried disabling esync, d3d11, and forcing wined3d with the same result.
Runs mostly perfect. The mouse seems to be stuck in the middle of the screen. Had to use keyboard for the menu interactions. It might be a WM problem (Cinnamon).
Have to use native2proton to get proton to work (they have a Linux build, but it's BORKED). There also doesn't seem to be any character sprites. Makes it hard to detect/fight monsters.
After coming back from an alt-tab, the mouse becomes SUPER sensitive. Might be a WM issue (Cinnamon).
Works as expected, for what it is.
There was no 1920x1080 option for fullscreen on my system, but that may just be a problem with Windows too.
