Launch window has difficulty recognizing inputs. Clicking drop down menus might cause the cursor to be forced to a bounding box to the right of the launch menu. Text field doesn't recognize Steam Keyboard input nor emulated keyboard inputs.
Confirming previous report requiring Proton 3.16-9 on Steam Deck will make game work properly. Default controls partially work in the menu, but customized controls are needed to activate entries and actually play the game.

Changed dpad bindings to act as left thumbstick.
Plays great with Proton 3.16-9. Newer version of Proton do not work. The launch window will require the software keyboard if you wish to change your name for the high score table.

Config Boot Menu appears, but after trying to start the game after click "OK", you are presented with a black screen. The Menu music plays either after some time or pressing certain buttons, but I don't hear menu sound effects when pressing buttons so it doesn't quite seem to be JUST a display issue, but i could be wrong. Both fullscreen, windowed and bit depth options had no effect.
The game technically loads, so perhaps some system updates will make it playable, but it might need developer/publisher support which I think is unlikely due to the age/scope/budget of the game.

Selecting a specific proton version is tinkering
Proton 3.16-9 needs to be forced in the compatibility options within the properties of the game. Once done, the game runs flawlessly. If ran with the latest (6.3-5), the screen remains black, although audio and inputs still work.
If controller support is configured in Steam the controller is not detected at all. To solve this you can set "Steam Input Per-Game Settings" to "Force Off" for this game.
With newer versions of Proton, no graphics are rendered. Use Proton version 3.16.

On newer Proton versions everything renders as white rectangulars.
Proton v3.16.x (I used .9) seems to be required, anything newer causes the images to not load.

Tried no tweaks, but game runs, it just doesn't seem to draw anything other than white squares on a black background with some weird credit screen elements. Will try with tweaks later when I get more time. Till then, avoid.
Works perfectly out of the box. Also tried playing with Xbox One controller which also worked fine.
Runs as close to native as far as I can tell.
