Tested in Proton GE 5.21 and Proton Experimental.
Sometimes you need to run the game in Windowed to fix a Full screen lock up of the mouse, otherwise it is fine.
Play on Native
Better to Run native over proton
*NATIVE VERSION DOES NOT WORK*
This is a known issue that is distro agnostic, meaning it affects any distro. Hopefully Valve is aware and is fixing the native version of this game, from what i could gather online, it has to do with a recent security patch.
Amazing that DayZ is now playable on Linux, ive been waiting for so long for it, i never have to boot into windows ever again now.
As of today, it works with Proton 6.3-8 Thanks to Valve and DayZ devs, make sure you have Proton Battleye runtime downloaded and the Steam beta client.
Just boot it up and play, Tested on both Windows and Linux, virtually the same.
No tinkering, OOB gameplay.
Runs okay under proton, Run Native instead.
Multiplayer works as expected in Proton Expierimental
Native is better than Proton, but Proton works.
Proton works OOB. Perfect game to play with friends using the power of linux.
Co-op works out of box
Works flawlessly on base proton.
A game that seems like Dark souls, Jet-Set Radio, and Borderlands mashed together, Plays just like it would on Windows, Perfect OOB experience.
Hunt Showdown is now sucessfully playable.
MP works OOB
Runs just as good as Windows counterpart (Probably due to low overhead on Linux, Cry engine sucks) but this is good that more games are getting Linux support.
Good with Proton Experimental, OOB.
Basically everything works except the Voice Recognition which uses Microsoft Speech Recognition, otherwise it was flawless.
Screen Tearing on GNOME, XFCE and KDE this is resolved.
i used Proton 5.13 and 6.3 to test this, it worked like a charm on both. Using a Beta version of Xubuntu, 21.04
Flawless through Proton 7.0
Plays as Windows counterpart, no issues
Dunno what the other reports were about but this game runs good! Proton 6.3-8 and Experimental
Works only on Proton 5.13, Even then it crashes depending on what country you pick.
Dont try this until it gets fixed, waste of time.
Proton 7.0-5 Is still broken for this game, does not run on any version of proton that i have tested, including Proton GE.
Crashes almost instantly
Use Native over proton.
Some minor hiccuping here and there.
Out of the box play, using Proton 6.3 and 6.5 GE
XFCE has an issue with tabbing out on Fullscreen, Haven't tried Gnome, KDE or any other DE.
Runs OOB
Using normal proton 9, runs out of box, tested on both Fedora and Solus
Works great out of the box on Proton 5.13 and also Proton 6.0 GE
Runs great out of the box on any Distro that i have tested, Everything from Fedora, to Arch, to Debian, etc.
I found that an older version of Proton, 4.11 seems to be a bit more stable than 5.0, 5.3 etc. UNLESS you are running GE, anything from GE 5.21 upwards seems to be extremely stable.
Runs good on Proton 9
Haven't tried multiplayer yet, might update this review once i do, however given my specs and the normal version of proton, seems to run pretty decently.
Literally Plug n Play now folks, Linux gaming has gotten this good.
Use Proton 7.0 or higher.
Can stutter, make sure background shader caching is enabled in Steam settings.
