Does not load unless using WineD3D renderer causing stuttering and intense performance loss.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Significant performance decrease due to DXVK not working
Ubisoft Connect prevents DXVK from working
Ubisoft Connect requires 32bit libs, the game in turn needs 64bit (obviously). Without that stupid launcher DXVK would work fine and the experience would be flawless.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Game was displayed beyond screen limits in fullscreen
Constant lags every 2 seconds
There's no way to say whether this is a Proton problem or with Square Enix traditionally bad port. FMV playback was fixable, however lag seemingly isn't.
--intro-skip -skipStartScreen --launcher-skip
Requires going back to Proton 8.0-5 to prevent crashes during start or loadscreen. Then however it works perfectly fine.
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/amd_icd64.json %command% -nosplash
Stuttering after game starts
Rarely crashes
Had to tinker a little bit to get best performance. Using the AMDGPU driver instead of Pro improves DX11 performance and makes DX12 work, with bad performance though.
%command% -nosplash
Not working with default Proton 7.0.4 since Season 3 update.
It is pure chance to have at least one working gamepad, which is a requirement to play this game.
Only one out of 4 tested different controllers were detected correctly or even at all
Disabling the Steam Controller Input for this game made the ASUS Gamepad work for some reason. Neither Dualshock 4 nor Steam Controller or X360 wired controller worked at all in any configuration. As of now playability is pure luck.
Works nicely
Requires fiddling sometimes
Runs perfectly with excellent performance.
Game lacks ingame settings.
Moved DisplaySettings.ini from game folder to .local/share/Psychonauts in your home folder, then set resolution in there.
Do not use fullscreen if you have multiple monitors, it will try to use them all.
If you want to use a Dualshock 4 PS4 controller and your camera isn't properly configured for the second joycon, go to .local/share/Psychonauts/Profiles/Profile X/Profile X- Name.ini and change the last four entries like this:
LookUp_Alt=JoyRotY
LookDown_Alt=JoyRotY
LookLeft_Alt=JoyRotX
LookRight_Alt=JoyRotX
Multiple monitors break fullscreen support.
Quite nice
There seems to be no way to make 3dfx Glide work. DirectD3D works though.
The game does not properly connect and thinks it times out. This is a bug also found in the original on any hardware.
You can have fun as you did in the past. 3dfx Glide not working is quite a bummer though.
eval $( echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI'/" )
Changed Resolution & disabled Fullscreen
.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/289070/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/AppOptions.txt
Wrong screen gets used with incompatible resolution, causing startup crashes
K2 Launcher prevents game launch, workaround needed
Once it works it works, still unnecessarily annoying. Native version ain't any better.
eval $( echo PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Base\/Binaries\/Win64Steam\/CivilizationVI.exe'/" )
Changed Resolution, disabled Fullscreen & pinned CPU cores instead of -1
.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/289070/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/AppOptions.txt
Wrong screen gets used with incompatible resolution, causing startup crashes
The CPU pins as well as ESYNC / FSYNC flags have to be set, otherwise the game lags as all hell.
Once it works it works, still unnecessarily annoying. The Launcher is awful and causes problems, the native version is obsolete and incompatible.
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/amd_icd32.json %command% -nolauncher
Shader caching at the beginning of the game causing intense, but temporary stuttering issues.
Without specifying the 32bit ICD file as start option the game can't initialize Direct3D on startup.
Only encountered ingame issues that are caused by Eidos Montreal. Audio is supposed to be that bad.
Replaced runme.exe first the Sneaky mod Installer, then with a copy of T3.exe to start the game patched.
PROTON_OLD_GL_STRING=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Only starts through Steam at all with very specific start arguments or Proton 4 (w/ bugs). Wasn't fun since there was no indication for it whatsoever, runs instantly with native wine.
Great performance besides some initial stuttering.
EAC still preventing online play
Game greets you with an error message about EAC. After about a minute of online gameplay it forcefully throws you out with error K699 followed by a connection loss.
