Proton 4.2 did not worked but Proton 4.11 has worked well. Still has the crash of the base game that is not free from bugs but no issue were added by the emulator
This is not a stable game. But it never were. It is playable and that's it
The game is not very stable so not sure how much is caused by the emulation
I think it's a game for children but. It was very fun to play with local coop on controllers
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Launch with significant graphical degredation on half of the screen, the launch option has solved this, I'm not sure why
I was not expecting local multiplayer to works with my exotic array of controllers but it did
Wire two very different controllers (Steam and a third party switch one) and it works seamlessly
This game play now only on local.
crash when windowing
Multiplayer no longer supported for anyone
Run well on proton. The shame is that it was a native Linux game when I finish it on steam.
hot seat so no problem expected whatsoever
Did not launch out of the box through, should not be platinum.
Run fine oftb. Run with minor annoyance with the patch.
Installing the patch made the last few caracters of the first line fall out of the screen if the line is big. Using the patch is kind of mandatory as the game become nonsensical without. This is a very minor inconvenience but kind of annoying if you want to enjoy the dialog. (Sex dialog are relatively unafected as sentences tends to be short).
I had trouble installing the patch as wine did not recognize the disk where the game was installed. I had to copy the game file to /tmp, install the patch then copy the file back to the install folder. I may have messed permission on the mounted drive. I let this here in the case it is useful but I highly doubted it.
Run ootb
I did not manage to use two widely differents controllers (steam with switch). I had to use keyboard and controller.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
This one was tricky to makes it work, I'm glad to finally be able to play it without issue after a few years trying
Run well out of the box (One mod tested is not working but the others did)
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
I have to use a special command on my computer for RPGMaker games I don't really no why.
Run ootb
I got a bug by trying to play with a controller, but according to the steam forum it is not a Linux related issue
I have done as jamesmcm03 suggested, which is (litteraly copied from their review)
Install corefonts and gdiplus with protontricks:
protontricks 1154840 -q corefonts gdiplus
Disable Direct2D GPU shader Scale effect in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Shadow Empire/direct2d.txt by setting true to false on both lines.
I had no issue playing the game 1 year ago
(Displayed version of proton is not the one I used at the time, but I went for the non tinkering option)
I won't say the game is that enjoyable but it is not worse on Linux
The game is very bugged. But according to the review it does not seems to be Linux related
No issue except performance
The game is playable but due to memory leak it has to be restarted from time to time. So it is probably unplayable for low-end hardware on Linux.
As this type of game do not require much power, Linux performance issue don't stop the game from being playable but limited to 1h session on my computer (you'll get more or less depending on your ram size).
Crash when launching battle
Crash when launching battle
When alt-tabbing during a battle, it takes almost a minute to go back to the battle
I had encountered two specific issue that were on my side. Cloud save were not working due to enforcing two different version of proton on two computer (each working fine).
Rigth click a little buggy when fullscreen on a tiling manager with a resolution ratio different that the one of the computer (Missclik during the configuration, it happens)
Crash when starting a game or asking for the credit. Some graphical glitches on the menu and the loading too
Native version does not launch (well I haven't launched steam with runtime activated so maybe that's the problem) but It works well with proton (I have tried only GE)
