Runs exactly like Windows. Can't complain :D
Game freezes every 30 seconds or so but only for 1 second. Typical Source stuff, I suspect my NVIDIA GPU isn't kicking in and it's using my iGPU
Natively, the game wouldn't even run with any content packs. I couldn't get past the title screen with Proton 4.11-13. Using Proton 5.0-7 fixed everything.
Alt+Tabbing would sometimes cause the game to not regain focus if you alt+tabbed back. Alt+tabbing and then alt+tabbing back one more time would usually fix this issue.
Although I used GE-Proton9-7, I found that vanilla Proton 9 would also launch the game just fine. I plugged in my Nintendo Switch Pro controller and the game found it without issue!
%command% --use-d3d11
Using Borderless Fullscreen shows a little outline on the borders of my screen. Switching to Exclusive Fullscreen works as expected though.
Without adding the launch option, the game would run for about 2 minutes and then crash
Couldn't tell the difference between Native and Proton
Well, except subtitles and console text was a little distorted, but nothing unreadable. A minor issue to get MMod to work on Linux. I used Proton 5.0-8 and didn't even need to tweak any settings except for screen resolution.
Trying to run on Proton GE or Proton 9 resulted in the XBox Live sign-in window appearing but being completely blank. Switching to Proton 8 resolved this issue, and I was able to sign in without a hitch.
Almost forgot I was on my Linux partition!
Be weary if you have a game library on an NTFS drive or partition. This causes many games not to work. However, using BTRFS and a small Windows driver makes it easy to share game libraries across OSes
Game runs perfect, with some minor picky details
Switching resolutions can crash the game
Just a slight noticeable delay with my mouse position and what the game had shown as selected. Nothing game breaking, just take your time.
Save games cannot be saved in default location. They'll pretend to, but you'll find they're gone when you try to load. I just made a folder in my user directory and it worked just fine.
Sometimes you'll get the infamous video driver violation at the very start when trying to skip the intros. Just gotta be patient and the game will load fine.
Works out-of-the-box, multiplayer and all!
I've been playing with a friend over Steam with absolutely no issues!
Splitscreen was a feature I was not expecting to see, but one I welcome!
