With lowering of settings to low and reducing resolution it's possible to hit 60 fps. I would say it's playable, but game doesn't look great
Some text is a bit small
Doesn't run great

Limited to 40 fps, set settings to low. Textures and shadows to medium.
Pop up asks if you want to run DirectX 11 or 12. Use 11.
Do NOT run DX12. Runs ok for about 10 minutes but locks up your Deck.
Running DX12 can crash your game and your Deck. A reset will fix.

-dx11
TDP 10W
Throttling when running on DX12. On DX11 it works better, but sometimes it freezes completely, and the deck interface becomes inaccessible. Only a reboot helps

Works right out of the box and delivers a solid 45FPS experience with no fiddling or tweaking
Some UI elements were small. Some documents you can click on to make them readable but several parts of the UI are pretty small (but still readable)
Coming out of sleep mode, the audio would occasionally crackle (about 10% of the time)
You can get this game running roughly at 60FPS with low settings and 720p resolution, however at that resolution the UI text is hard to read
Performance at a mix of low and medium settings at native 1280x800 will see you mostly in the 40-50FPS range, capping to 40 FPS seems like the sweet spot here.
There's been a lot of conversation about performance here so this is what I've found.
You can set the game to 720p resolution and use the decks upscaling to get better performance, but even with most settings set to low and some disabled (SSAO, screen space reflection quality and global reflections) this game struggles to get a locked 60 in actual gameplay (the deck reaches 100% GPU usage nearing 60fps)
Even on low settings the game looks great, equivalent to basically the PS4. However setting the game to 40 FPS is pretty much the only way I was able to get a smooth gaming experience in traversal and combat.
Several smaller sections of the map (with the mold / fungus monsters) really smash the performance, I was at mid 30s for some of those, but overwhelmingly the game runs perfectly if you set a 40-45FPS deck limit

Based on GOG DRM-free version of the game, added to the library as a non-Steam game running with Proton. Performance is great on low graphics settings in DX12 mode. You can even get playable framerates with ray tracing on if you want to (about 30 fps with FSR set to half resolution), but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you really want to drain your battery fast.

Audio starts out fine, but if the system goes to sleep while the game is open, audio sometimes begins crackling at wake. Can only be fixed by quitting the program and relaunching, but I've noticed this problem on a couple other games too
I'm not too tech-savy, so I set the graphics to the default setting, and I was very impressed! Runs perfectly, though can overheat at 2+ hours

I was able to run this game after I bought it, but last month I picked back up after not playing it for a while. When I launch the game it asks me to choose the version of DirectX that I'm using (11 or 12) and no matter which one I pick it closes. I've tried forcing the latest version of Proton and Proton Experimental, and launching it from both desktop and gaming mode, and the same thing happens. I contacted 505 Games (the publisher of the Steam Deck version) and their last-resort advice after I tried everything else I mentioned was to rest my Deck to factory settings, which I don't really want to do.

Texture streaming doesn't always work well: I often see low textured walls and posters, sometimes one poster is detailed and another one right next to it is low textured. Changing the textures setting fixes the problem temporarily (probably just reloads the textures), doesn't help in long term
Rarely the steam deck controller doesn't affect the game (even "press button to start" can't be passed). But I can manipulate the game via the touch screen, and exit it for example. After runing the game again, there is no problem
FPS drop down to 0, 1, or 2 fps on Steam Deck Oled in DX12. This happens stably for me near Pneumatics room, just when I run in the hall near it and go under the Pneumatics direction shield. The problem usually doesn't go away. As of 22.04.2024, I can reproduce it on Proton 8, Proton 9 Beta, Protol Experimental, Proton Hotfix. It's interesting that otherwise, the game runs smoothly at my 40 FPS cap on these Proton versions, and looks very beautiful. I can't reproduce the problem on Proton 7 and 6, but I get 35 and 30 FPS there respectively, so I don't want to use them. Also, the problem can't be reproduced when launching the game in DX11, but the game looks much worse, so I don't want to play so either. There are other reports about the same problem on SD OLED: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1675200/discussions/1/4029096129895438629/ (mentioning that there are no such problems on LCD)
I think I will wait for a solution because I want to play it in DX12!

Seemed to crash when I was pressing a lot of buttons on startup during the developper logos. So try to only press buttons the 2 times you need to do so to proceed.
Make sure to lower the resolution to the one for the Steam Deck. The game usually ran at around 25-35 FPS for me. Would probably have been a good idea to lower some settings. Other than that, works well.

put graphics on low and res to 800p
recommend lower resolution

Locked frequency to 40 FPS, TDP 12 Watts
If you want a 60fps game, you can get it. If you want great fidelity (but at 30fps), you can get it. But I want the best of both worlds....40fp with the best fidelity I can squeeze. I played through almost half of the game to discover it.
The game has a feature where you can lowering the rendering resolution but it only limits you with one choice. With 800p, the lowered choice makes the image quality look poor...similarly to an FSR ultra performance quality. In 720p, the lowered choice looks more like a balanced option.
But I wanted a little more fidelity while maintaining stable 40fps. I went to the rendering ini file in the game's local files and changed the rendering resolution to 1024x576. And I feel like I cracked the code. Great fidelity and smooth gameplay. You can kinda do it with 800p if you go with 960x600, but it's not 100% stable though some may consider it good enough. At 1024x576, it's not 100% stable either because you do get a dropped frame from traversal loading and anything that pops like text, the map, and pause menu...but it's the best of the both worlds. Battery life gets you under 3 hours.
My settings are high textures, high texture filtering, low volumetric and foliage, medium shadows and shadow filtering, ssao on, ssr off (it needs to be off because it makes image quality bad and takes away frames), and msaa 2x (not necessary but helps fidelity).

Game runs real smooth. 60fps is doable, but opted for locked 40fps at 9-10W, medium settings in game with the two options last in the list ticked off as they impacted performance a lot (global shadows and something else, can't remember). This gave me close to 3 hours unplugged.
Good game with fun action. Played both on steam deck and docked to my TV. While docked, i opted for either:
A. Run at 30 fps, medium-high settings at 1080p (15W ofc)
B. Run at well over 40fps with medium settings, set gamescope to 1080p but render the game at just below (720p or 900p) and upscale with gamescope FSR.
Either way, great docked experience
Resolution is set to 1080 by default. Lower it to 800.
Set graphics to medium and limit fps to 40. Usually it stays at 40 but for some zones it varies and goes to 28-30.
Game plays great taking into account the mentioned details.

Changed the Framerate Limit to 40 and Refresh Rate to 40
Can't seem to upload my game save to the cloud using Heroic Launcher.
Set the FPS to 40, graphics to low and FSR to the maximum. It runs and looks great. Using CryoUtilities 2.0 makes it able to run very close to 60 but 40 is great enough.
I changed the graphics settings to low, because the Steam Deck started to overheat after 2 hours on medium
Set SteamDeck FPS limit to 30 to save battery power.
gamemoderun %command%
The game looks and runs amazing on low w/ 2x MSAA and the refresh rate/fps capped at 45.
Discovered FSR magic! Should stay around 40fps.
- If you set the resolution & render to be 960x540 (16:9)
- Then put everything else on highest settings.
- Turn MSAA off or on 2x
- Now press the … button on the steamdeck
- Go to the graphics settings tab in the quick settings
- Set the refresh rate to 40 this will also lock the FPS to 40fps.
- Make sure FSR is on and turn the sharpness up a bit I have mine on 5
Enjoy

Framerate capped at 40 fps, GPU Thermal Power Limit of 15 watts
Once the screen resolution was fixed ran really smoothly.
Game booted first time at 1920x1080 slowing it down, after adjusting to 1200x800 it ran perfectly smooth.
need to manually change the game's resolution to 1280x800
Works great; doesn't hit 60FPS though, so limit the screen to about 45hz for frame pacing.
It's honestly incredible that this game works on a handheld at all. No issues whatsoever.
I limited the game and screen to 45FPS because it can't consistently hit 60FPS. Doing this gets you less stuttering, making aiming much easier.
I also recommend enabling and getting used to motion aiming and the trackpad; both very useful for shooters.
Framerate capped to 40hz/40fps via system
Make sure to change your resolution to 1280x800 in the game settings, the game selects 1920x1080 by default.
Change resolution in settings
30 FPS Cap
Default resolution is 1920x1080, needs to be set manually after initial launch
I had to manually adjust the game's resolution to get good frame rate. It defaulted to 1920 x 1080 instead of the decks default of 1280 x 800
Not specifically for this game but I did put a system cap of 30 FPS for battery
After some playing around, I found that medium graphical settings and a 30fps cap works reasonably well. I wasn't able to get a consistent 40fps even after setting everything to low. The gyro takes some getting used to.

Reduced several graphics quality options from high/medium to medium/low
Audio starts out fine but if the system goes to sleep while the game is open, audio sometimes begins crackling at wake and can only be fixed by quitting the program and relaunching.
Extremely low framerate at default settings
Lowered the game resolution to 1280x720 and put the graphics settings to Low.
I recommend lowering the graphics settings to increase both the FPS and the battery life. Control looks great even on Low, but plays a lot smoother.
