Add a new game using the installer
Close the launcher and right-click, configure.
Runner should be wine-ge-8.26 (default)
DXVK should be 2.4.1, VKD3D you can turn off.
Go to the main lutris window, click on the button next to play and select Winetricks
Select default prefix, click OK
Run uninstaller and install the webview2 installer from here https://github.com/aedancullen/webview2-evergreen-standalone-installer-archive/releases/
Go back to winetricks and select Change settings
Check renderer=gdi and click OK, ignore any warnings that you might get.
Now use run winecfg, select msedgewebview2.exe and set it to Windows 7.
Run the launcher and install the game.

I have yet to find a way to make this work in GameMode (SteamDeck), but this will work from Desktop.

The first launch can take about a minute, so be patient. the game will probably close after that. Relaunch the game, and it will be good to go from there onwards.

The only thing that's broken are pre-recorded FMVs. This is easily fixed by installing Windows Media Player 11 via ProtonTricks:

Install the game
Run it once to initialise Proton
Open ProtonTricks (can be installed from Discover on Steam Deck, and from FlatHub for any other Linux distro).
Choose the RE5 container --> Select the default wine prefix --> Install Windows or DLL component --> wmp11 (Windows Media Player 11)
Enjoy the game :)

RE5 runs extremely well on Linux with very little tinkering. Enjoy!
