It technically works without issue, but its locked at 30 fps. Followed a Steam guide to change the DefaultEngine.ini to unlock frames.

make sure physx is set to low (I would imagine that Nvidia GPUs might be able to set it to med or high without much perf impact)
Worked flawlessly even with HDR, 4K, 60FPS, but there was an error with EAC anti-cheat if installed on a different (non-home) drive
DXVK_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 -r 60 --hdr-enabled --hdr-debug-force-output --hdr-sdr-content-nits 600 -- env MANGOHUD=1 %command%
I normally install my games on a raid drive, for some reason, having the game here failed to initialize EAC as it boot up but failed with "failed to get the process" and only option was to exit. I moved the game to the home drive, to the default steam installation folder and it worked with no issue at all, multiplayer working, performance as expected, HDR enabled etc. So there might be an issue with EAC if installing the game on non-home drives
Works perfectly, HDR works even better than linux [besides obvious perf issue of the game itself)
DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 -r 60 --hdr-enabled -- env MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Just clicking play worked perfectly, however I added parameters to get HDR working which works great I can even switch monitors/app and the HDR is maintained, unlike Windows where if I open any other game before ER it boots w/ washed colors.
Online also worked great, only caveat is that I think EasyAntiCheat only work when the game is installed on the same home drive of the OS, if it is installed on another drive it won't start.
DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 -r 120 --hdr-enabled -- env MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Works out of the box, but it has HDR support to I added the arguments to enable HDR.
There is one quick error I found when starting the game either with or without arguments saying that no compatible GPU was found, however clicking ok starts the game and the GPU is detected in-game no issue.
Basically no sounds, performance was ok, around 60 to 80 fps in the outerworld (at least outside of vault 76) but no sounds is a killer
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" mangohud %command% WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 PROTON_LOG=1 %command% WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Basically all audio is missing, the videos do have sound, like the please standby and the start of story video, but the game itself has basically no audio. The menu has absolutely no audio at all and the game itself only has like miscellaneous sounds like background buzz sounds, holotapes, birds things like that and guns. But there are no voices, no steps, jumps, doors opening, radio, nothing else sounds. Tried various proton, experimental proton ge, winetricks nothing worked.
It might depending on the Distro, me personally on Nobara (Fedora 39) I had to delete the libm.so.6 file
This is based of the demo, failed to start, reviewed console and found this error: "./lib/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.32' not found (required by /lib64/libmvec.so.1)"
I deleted "libm.so.6" from "/gameDirectory/lib/" and it worked without issue after this. The solution was based on this answer: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1072150/discussions/0/3380536561712068126/#c5401527630808760554
Overwall, beside the somewhat weird fps cap (even if set to uncap) it played really well.
gamemoderun %command%
For my hardware. the type of game and graphics I feel that the FPS I got were somewhat "low" amd bugged to some extent. It got between 60 and 70 fps, a completely fine number, but it was weird that it does not matter at what resolution I set the game, it seems like it was set in stone at 60-70 fps, even up to a 50% resolution scale it was the same. Tested with vsync, no vsync, fps cap (120) and uncap.
And there was some drops here and there, again nothing to big, but enough to write it about. I unfortunately don't have a windows box to test with my hardware and see if it is the game or proton/linux.
Quick note, when I changed proton version, I had to verify the game files again as it failed to start.
gamemoderun %command%
Game was running at 15-19 fps (solved by changing Change Rendering Scale to 75%, save, then back to 100%, save)
Initially I had an awful experience, game was running at 15-19fps.
After doing some testing it seems the root cause of the issue is some bug in the Rendering Scale option.
It starts by default at 125% for reason, changing it to 100% should solve the issue.
But once I booted the game backup up, the issue was there again, solved by once again changing Rendering Scale to 75%, save, then back to 100%, save.
I also saw a small performance increase with arguments: gamemoderun %command%
Manually changed to DX12 in-game to use Intel XESS upscaler and it looks so much better than FSR implementation. Besides this I don't remember doing any other type of configuration change, just "plug'n Play"
DXVK_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 -r 120 --hdr-enabled --hdr-debug-force-output --hdr-sdr-content-nits 600 -- env MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun %command%
Initially I used Proton experimental if not mistaken, but literally the last cutscene was crashing the game, chaging to Proton GE 9.4 worked
The only part that was weird (?) is that there was no option for 4K in the settings, so I selected 3200x1800 as closest and used FSR (WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 MANGOHUD=1 %command%), which worked perfectly, but then midway I went into settings and there was now the option ingame to select 4K, not really sure that the deal was, either way it was not a big issue, otherwise worked just fine
I started playing with Nobara39, around midway through I changed to Bazzite 3.1 and it worked perfectly on both of them!
-dx11
By default the game comes with DX12, where the performance was...not that great, I would say that not that attrousious but not good either, specially the sutters.
I played for about an hour with DX12, medium settings (some low like shadows) FSR at Performance. Got around 60-80 fps, with sutters and dips to 40s.
Changed to DX11 with steam launch options "-dx11" and it was a complete upgrade. Constants 60+ frames, no stutters, was able to increase the upscaler to Balance, played the rest of the game like this and no issues at all.
Changed to DX11
Used Proton GE 9.4 (my steam default) and got obsolutely no issue, solid 120fps 4k all round (just some drops at some intense parts in the last chapters)
I disabled Steam Overlay just because everyone says so, besides that it was click n play.
Online does not work after latest patch, AVF error. Steam overlay needs to be disabled
