Unable to launch EA App
I tried many protontricks listed here and other parts of the internet. Most of them seem focused on getting the game itself to work. Because my issue was the EA App, this did not help.
The app either gives an error, hard crashes or gives a connection issue. I actually dont think this is a Linux issue. EA App crashes before game even starts
I tried many many many online fixes including protontricks, different proton versions and clearing out the EA app to have it reinstall itself many times.
Deleted video folder in install to fix campaign crashing.
Sometimes loading into a zombie map with freinds crashed. This is rare, works 90% of the time.
Local co-op 2 player split screen zombies is not great. Seeing half the screen of zombies makes things hard to see.
MOD TOOLS / RADIANT Black ops 3 has super extensive modding tools for making your own maps. It comes as a steam tool. I am able to download, boot up the launcher and even load intro radiant. But only if I boot radiant up into a blank file. And it has a couple graphical glitches. But there is hope! Im suprised I even got as far as I did.
Played many hours just fine. Today, black screen.
Done a lot of searching on both Linux and Windows forums. Many other people have this issue and there's no super confirmed concise fix. I have done some mild system updates and that's the only change that stopped the game working but those updates were really minor so I'm unsure. To clarify, the game worked for me for years. Today, it plays the intro video and then goes to a black screen. Steam overlay keeps working, game does not say its not responding.
Menu loads, game doesnt
Menu loads with 3D graphics and all looks well. Clicking play in any capacity brings you to an endless black screen with no music.
Wrong output device chosen, had to change it to headphones.
Without experimental, game lags when shooting or unlocking doors.
The game played as expected. No issues whatsoever
Make sure to goto settings and turn censorship off
Outside of quickly adding the RaceNet certificate, install and setup was a breeze, no further tinkering.
Follow the below guide on how to install the RaceNet certificate

I didnt even know this game wasnt native
Dont threat if you dont get alot of sound, the game actually just doesnt have almost any sound normally
On a Linux PC it does run but only if I disable my other monitors. If I do not disable other monitors, the game crashes before loading the main menu. Plays flawlessly on Steam Deck.
Steam Deck perfect. Linux PC perfect if you disable other monitors.
Game wont start without -skipintro
Played for 4 hours straight, no issues.
Ran perfectly for over 2 hours.
My co-op partner on Windows had a couple issues. There was about 30 seconds where he could not attack at all.
No complaints. Default Proton and all.
I have not actually made anything myself but I ran the Fireman Jump template and the game itself compiled and ran just fine.
It works. I dont know why you want to play it but it does work
Fell out of the world, had 2 copies of the same gun causing the gun to not fire
A victory for all of Linux gaming.
This is fixable
Install winetricks
Locate the Wine prefix directory for the game. It's probably located at ~/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/976730/pfx
Open the terminal an run: WINEPREFIX="insert prefix directory here" winetricks --gui
pick "Select the default wineprefix" then press OK
pick "Change settings" then OK
scroll down towards the bottom of the list and select "win7" to set the Windows version to Windows 7 then OK
You can then close winetricks
Audio should now work
PvP multiplayer does not work. Co-op campaign lets you get into the game with mates, jump around and shoot and then after about 30 seconds disconnects all players.
After new update, needed to add PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command% to launch options
Please use a controller for this game, keyboard and mouse controls are bad
THE GAME WAS FINE. The Shift+Tab steam overley text chat with freinds had a delay and was missing a mouse cursor, made steam chat an awful experiance. The actual game was fine.
Played online flawlessly
Game works, even with my Nintendo Pro Controller. Worth noting though I played less than 30 minutes (online matches & singleplayer story mode)
Works perfect singleplayer
Multiplayer wont connect
Just does not connect
Works as it should
Its a phone game
Game freezes sometimes, seemingly before big combos pop off
Game freezes before big combo attacks often.
Sometimes had connection issues or timeouts. Mostly worked.
Works almost flawlessly
Occasionally unable to join a match. Restart game fixes it.
Runs Great, booted up a server and played against bots
I was unable to join any of the lobbys listed in the server browser but I could create my own against bots. You do need to login to epic games but its super easy to do so, no intrusive app or anything.
The game runs the same as windows.
BUT The UI/UX is dogshit small and text is kinda blurry. Even cranking the UI to biggest is still kinda small. Its clearly made for a mobile phone and not my 27inch 1080p monitor.
Chose the first option on every dialog box that came up
Works flawlessly
Game runs flawlessly, Origin works but its a pain.
Origin is garbage and regularly prompts you to enter a new install directory
Might as well be native
Played the game till completion, even played online multiplayer. Worked with controller too. Also worked on my Steam Deck in addition to my Linux PC.
