Works fine

Works perfectly after changing game settings.
The biggest issue is that the game freezes every time you fire a gun, take damage or there is an explosion. It makes the game pretty much unplayable, but there is an easy fix.
Fix: Launch the game > Go into Settings > Controls > Set Vibration Intensity to "Off" (for a good measure, unplug any controller and/or a steering wheel)
The cause of this freeze is the game simulating haptic feedback for recoil, taking damage and things exploding.
The audio is sometimes gone on startup. It can be fixed by going into game Sound settings, switching to a different output device and then back to default or whatever you use normally. You have to repeat the process every time you start the game, if it happens.
The game is locked to DX12 and that may cause performance issues for some. Fix is in Steam > Crime Boss Properties > Betas > Beta Participation > advanced.. This will update your game and give you a second launch option when you hit "Play". The second option runs DX11 by default and may inprove your performance.

Absolutely unplayable with this freezing issue. Genuinely unsure how this got "verified" status.
Was unable to change the resolution away from 1280x800 in full screen mode. Windowed mode allowed me to run at my monitor's native resolution.
Freezing when firing weapon/playing specific sounds
The freezing issue I mentioned before can sometimes cause the game to crash entirely.

Game freezes every time I shoot a gun and crashes afterwards sometimes.
Every time I shoot a gun the game freezes and sometimes crashes aswell.
I've tried it a few updates back but I just kept getting a Out of Video memory
message which is funny since I don't get that message on my Windows (dual booted with Bazzite). But now it just freezes up and crashes.

Sometimes the wrong output gets used in the game so I have to switch output devices in game to something else then back for the correct output to be used.
Ocassional crash when using default setup. Using the beta "advanced - Advanced Options" then clicking "Play (Custom)" got rid of the crashes for me.
Disregard my review below as I had some bad sticks of RAM. After much testing and new RAM I now have a configuration that should be stable for just about anyone using a debian base.

Sometimes I need to go into sound settings and switch to a different audio device then switch back to get sound to work. Pretty minor to me. Also, it's not consistent as to when this happens.
Disregard my review below as I discovered I had a faulty stick of RAM when I made that report. With the updated RAM the only thing I needed to do in order to run the game without crashes was to opt into the available beta named "advanced - Advanced options". When launching the game selec the "Play (Custom)" option. Aside from the occassional (maybe 1 in 5 launches) time when I have to go into settings and swap the audio device away and back to get sound working the game plays perfectly now.

sometimes low fps, but very infrequent
runs just normal for me, changed to proton experimental for more stability

It always crashes every time after playing about 5 minutes.
gamemoderun %command%
I have tried latest Proton, Proton Experimental and the latest Proton-GE, and the issue cannot be resolved by anyone.

Game sometimes launches and can play for 5 to 10 minutes then chashes.
Deleting prefix allows another 5 to 10 minutes of play (both SP and MP) but crashes. Once the game crashes I cannot get back to the main menu. Game used to work befor the early July patch but now crashing constantly. I have tried Proton 9, GE9, and experimental. Not sure what gives. If I find something that works I'll update this report or make another >.<

Switch to the "advanced - Advanced options" Beta tree in the game's properties
After having a chat with a developer on Discord, they said that the default EXE forces the use of DX12, which seems to be having trouble running the game under Proton. They mentioned that the "advanced - Advanced options" Beta option does not force DX12 and will default to DX11. Switch to that and the freezing should be fixed on the latest version.

No sound + Shooting guns freezes the game
As of update v9.5, the game sound suddenly stops when about 50% through the shaders loader. This issue can be fixed by disabling all other sound outputs other than the one you wish to use.
On a game-breaking note: Shooting any gun freezes the game. The more/faster you shoot, the worse the effect - to the point of the game completely locking up.

mangohud DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_FORCE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 __GL_MaxFramesAllowed=1 %command%
Crashes during intro videos on launch 2+. Deleting compatdata for the game lets you load once without crashing.
Same issues also with GE-Proton9-8. Assuming this started happening after a recent patch before I got the game.

It may stutter at the begining for 30 seconds to 2 minutes max, just use Proton Experimental to get rid of the stutters (it will stutters a little at the menu on start every time)

The game runs at roughly 14 fps the first minute, after that everythhing works fine
Hosting and joining online coop games works like a charm.

There are some stutters, but you can fix it by leaving the game on in the menu for 10min orso. The Dev is aware of this issue.
Used: DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_2 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command
There is a stuttering issue this can be fixed with this: Leave the game running in the menu for 5 to 10 minutes to let it compile all the shaders, after this reboot the game
After the shader compile the stutter was gone and game ran great after that.

ChimeraOS Game Mode requires launch option to exceed 1280x800 resolution

Wrong output device chosen, had to change it to headphones.
Without experimental, game lags when shooting or unlocking doors.

Still would have to fix those two issues if they are affected by it. Otherwise, it's fine.
The sound took the incorrect default output for some reason. Thankfully, the game allow to manually change the audio output and input manually in the in-game settings.
With my steering wheel plug at all time, it caused ~1 second of freezing every time you shoot or take a shot, pretty difficult to play decently even at lower difficulties. Regardless if it was used, of course. Unplug everything or wait for a patch to fix, or allow to disable vibrations or controllers.

This game is for casual or younger players (not too young, it is still a crime sim), diffculty is low.
Needed to bind keys for non US Qwerty keyboard, no problem doing so.
Had to set most graphics to High instead of maximum.
Technically OK, not a great game for my taste.

If it's just shader caching, then we just need to wait a couple of days. If it's Proton, then surely a week or two.

I suspect it's just the necessary shader caching issues that come with a new game, but the game freeze for ~1 second every time you shoot or take a shot, pretty difficult to play decently even at lower difficulties.

Game runs pretty well, not much tinkering required, except for installing the c++ runtime
Had to install visual c++ runtime using protontricks
No Tinkering, Works out the Box

gamemoderun VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 %command%
Mouse disappeared after a while
Needed to switch to proton experimental for day 1, needed to add launch args for nvidia otherwise the game would start heavily lagging on the menu until it crashed
Played several rounds of multiplayer with steam friends

Aside from the few performance hits that happen and the one bug with audio cutting out, it runs perfectly. Easy workarounds.
Very rarely the audio cuts out. A restart fixes it.
If controller vibration is turned on, the game's FPS plummets when vibrating. Either turn off vibration or unplug the controller.
Certain menus will cut my FPS more than half, but keeps it above 40. But, only in certain menus, in the heists it runs fine.
The issues I listed seem like things that will definitely improve in the near future with updates to Proton. Otherwise, game is totally playable and quite enjoyable.

Sound is crackling when shooting from any gun, as well as during enemy spawns on any settings
Stuttering when shooting from any gun, as well as during enemy spawns on any settings
Sometimes the game hangs when you shoot
Very slow first time startup, in-game no perfo

Unless you are a fan of playing your games on mute, then you're going to need the audio while playing
Outside some sound effects in the menu and the intro logo videos, there is no audio

Played for 20 minutes on SteamDeck. It was fine enough.
