Steam controller is the only thing for me that has problems with this game. Sometimes the game freezes for a short time because the steam controller resets the Xbox 360 input at random times. I tested the game again with the actual 360 controller this time and had no issues with it.
Works perfectly. It's 30fps, but that's normal.
Works pretty well. Although, fullscreen doesn't make the game full. The game crashes randomly when messing around with the screen options. Other than that, it's playable.
Had to use alt+enter
I saved and loaded many times to make sure and haven’t had any problems, at least on my end
There could be certain crashes related to selecting a character
Latest proton GE fixes the game. If you get an update error, restart and it should say "play" in the launcher and it should work. Input is a little finicky, but if you manage to bind the inputs with patience, the game can be more enjoyable.
Keyboard not detected either after first run
Everything works fine first run, but I had no luck using the keyboard or controller when I start the game a second time. Mouse works fine though. There may be something to fix that, but I've yet to know what's the solution.
The Collection's playable, if you don't mind playing without saving or loading
alt+enter doesn't make it fully fullscreen
Just like the Castlevania Collection, when you try to save or load a save game, it either crashes or use a Chinese text screen with a question mark next to that
I wouldn't give this game a platinum yet. The load and save options still occur with the chinese text error that you can't get out of
Have to manually put fullscreen by using alt+enter for example
Still has the same text problem like others have mentioned and have to exit the game application
Had to manually alt+enter for fullscreen
I saved and loaded many times to make sure and haven't had any problems on my end
Works perfectly. No config needed. One thing to note, when installing the game in a long line of text of the installation folder, you'll be met with a black screen when loading certain levels. That's what happened to me a few times. So it's best to install in a short text of an installation folder or the default download folder.
Anime avatar is shown with a black screen and not transparent. I can not do other options like the settings. Can't seem to get out of the program easily, unless I alt+shift from the steam overlay. Switching to experimental doesn't do much either.
I've finally found a way to play this game without crashes on Doom 3. Use the command: MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.5COMPAT allow_glsl_builtin_variable_redeclaration=true force_glsl_extensions_warn=true PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%. Using PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 is the main cause of crashing after loading Doom 3.
Opening cutscene for example skips automatically due to a video format proton couldn't play, but the game itself works perfectly.
May experience minor problems. Video cutscenes skipped, but the game itself is playable.
I used a drawing pad for creating stuff as well as my hero. At times it refuses to let me color or draw the template, so I used the steam controller and press A on the template to temporarily fix the issue and switched back to my drawing pad.
The game cannot open
Tried experimental, stable 6.3-8, and proton-6.21-GE-2, but crashes each time. The proton commands does not make it work either.
Still unplayable with a messed up mirror screen. Can hear sound though.
Still has that same problem as previous versions
No proton update or tweaks seems to make it fix the diagonal screen problem so far
It will have an error when starting, but the game will run. Haven't had the majority of problems so far.

If you've used this command "protontricks 743890 wmp11", apparently it doesn't work anymore than it should. Had errors and sudo didn't help as well as the -q command next to this "protontricks 743890 -q wmp11" (which I forgot to mention for the 2nd X Collection with it's id: 743900)
If you go to this website: https://gist.github.com/BillFleming/9cf58245c5544896181ce99cb108edb5 you can download the files. Get or copy the 0 bytes version of the script and put and install to the game directory.
Everything like Mega Man X4 should work on that alternative, except for the cutscenes.
If you had an permission error before, here's the steps I did
Do step one and two only if you've tried to install wmp11 on the current proton version 5.13
If you just installed the game, possibly skip step one and two
- go to protontricks 743890 --gui
- After that go to default prefix and then delete all data and applications inside the prefix
- Switch the current proton version to the previous version 5.10
- Start the game then exit when you're done starting it
- Now do this command: protontricks 743890 -q wmp11
After that, it should install wmp11 and make the game and cutscenes fully playable

Apparently the "protontricks 743900 wmp11" command doesn't seem to work at all as it should. Gives me errors and "permission denied" on the files. Even sudo didn't help the problem. Right now I only know one alternative that the other players suggest. When I downloaded a script from this website: https://gist.github.com/BillFleming/9cf58245c5544896181ce99cb108edb5 and put and install the 0 bytes version to the game directory, the games are playable. Downside, the cutscenes will be skipped but the games themselves will be playable. Unless there's a way to get cutscenes working too, the playable games and other stuff is what you'll get.

protontricks 743900 wmp11 makes the game cutscenes and video galleries work without any problems. Same method goes with the first Mega Man X Legacy Collection.
I keep getting an error that says "Failed to request product key from steam. Please try again in a few minutes."
The only problem right now is that the game doesn't download properly when trying to install from proton. It does in windows from a NTFS drive, but the key error still occurs in linux.
When I start a level with my steam controller, my shoot/RT button was out of control for some reason. Had to go to the controller configuration on the steam overlay and use a keyboard bind for the shoot button. Even changed the binding in-game. As a result, my shoot button isn't out of control anymore and it seems to fix the issue.
I previously mentioned this before, but there are still random times where my shoot button is out of control on my steam controller. Not as often when binding to keyboard button with RT.
As I mention in my 2 reports, RT shoot button is out of control when starting a match. To fully clarify, when I installed the mod installer and rebind my steam controller with R instead of RT (Steam controller config and ingame), the problem with the out-of-control shoot button problem seems to be gone.
Controller hasn't worked for the main game yet as it instantly crashes after you load a game
When switching to controller as the default control option, the game will instantly crash if you load it. When loading the game with keyboard, it didn't crash and I haven't had issues so far.
Use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
It will show the game screen
Tested this game on proton experimental
AMD user's will be happy that this proton version is now playable and that you can finally play games in fullscreen
. Linux version with AMD has a problem with fullscreen that has a black screen with sound.
. Videos go by standby mode. Once the standby blinks once, press a button to skip it and it will take you to the title screen and you can play
This game can run without java by downloading the modified exe file from this site: https://github.com/darealshinji/sonic-4-launcher
Once you've downloaded and extracted the file, copy the modified exe and replace the original one.
Use protontricks to use the following commands: protontricks 202530 msxml3 vcrun2010 d3dx9
Lastly, you'll have to disable esync (PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1) and fsync (PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1) if you're using that too.
Replace with exe file by downloading the sonic-4-launcher_r4_gcc zip from https://github.com/darealshinji/sonic-4-launcher/releases/tag/r4
Extract the SonicLauncher exe file and replace the same exe file name in the main Sonic 4 directory.
When I run the game, there were no performance or sound issues that I noticed. Seems like you don't need to do the launch commands if nothing's wrong.
Use the protontricks command: protontricks 203650 dotnet20
DIsable esync and fsync if you have that too: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Then you should be all set
It's playable and mostly smooth for me with the default resolution setting. However, putting the resolution to 1920x1080 for example makes the game slow down.
As mentioned before, use D9VK for full speed. No need to use the --F command.
Works Great
Fullscreen doesn't fit the entire screen, so I changed the option to borderless fullscreen
Everything else seems to be working fine.
Performs better without vsync. The options I put for textures is at least medium and shadows to low in the configuration. This gives me a decent speed with little to no lag from the track Sunshine Tour for example. Haven't test out the multiplayer yet.
I was able to manage to get this game running. First, you have to google and download the specific java version that is required (at least the 1.6.0 version). Then once it's downloaded, go to where the java download is at and right click the outside of the download folder and click the open in terminal option. Type in the terminal for example: (WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/202530/pfx" WINEARCH=win64 wine jre-6u45-windows-i586.exe) and install java. After that, use the terminal again to type for example: (WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/202530/pfx" WINEARCH=win64 winetricks) From there, install msxml3, vcrun2010, and maybe d3dx9. Disable esync (PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%). Once done, the game should work.
Config works, but the game itself starts with a black screen, which hasn't been resolved yet.
xact needs to be installed, otherwise the sound will be messed up.
protontricks 40800 d3dcompiler_47 xact
Main game works, but the multiplayer is not
xact has to be installed
Use this proton command: protontricks 40800 d3dcompiler_47 xact
Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Whenever I try to test out the dark levels for multiplayer, it skips to the results screen. At times it crashes when selecting the dark levels too.
The game crashes instantly in the native version, but the proton version works perfectly.
Everything works, but the cutscenes. Best to use the "No Movies" option for now.
