Working fine on linux.

Game runs perfectly in windowed fullscreen at 60 fps after installing 32-bit vulkan libraries "lib32-vulkan-intel". Without those it requires using "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" with stuttering audio and 40+ fps. Cutscenes have no audio.
No audio in cutscenes. Did not bother to fix.

No audio on FMVs
Some FMVs are broken or unable to run

Use GE-Proton 7-55 with launch options to get audios in videos.
Newer Proton or GE Proton versions have some issues:
- Proton 9: No audio in videos
- GE-Proton 8: The game won't launch, I've tried 8-32, 8-28, 8-22, 8-8, none of them work even though 8-8 works in my Steam Deck. Seems related to what is saved in config.ini according to other's report.
- GE-Proton 9: Tried 11. Can launch the game, but the launch option no longer works, so no audio in videos.

-w 1280
you need to turn off steam cloud and use the launch option -w 1280 , also make sure the game resolution is 720p in the config file if it launches with a blacked out window , also make sure its set to 60 HZ/ frames in hte config file , the game should launch every time if the launch option is set to -w 1280 after those changes are made , you can set it to full screen but keep the resolution at 720p
steam cloud messes up the config file
the game will hang the second time you launch it if the launch option isnt set to -w 1280
turn off steam cloud for this game and use the launch options

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Game would not boot correctly with Proton 8.0.5 or newer in Fullscreen
Does not work natively with DualSense, not a Linux issue, but requires SteamInput
Works the same as the first X Legacy Collection. Same requirements and setup.

GE is needed to make the FMVs play, haven't noticed other problems.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
This game defaults to Fullscreen mode and I couldn't see anything until I tried blindly to find where to change to Windowed or Borderless mode.

Credit to Swish's report for discovering this launch option. By using this launch option and Proton GE (I use 8-8), the audio in cutscenes for all games will play without the need of using protontricks to install wmp11.
Install wmp11 via protontricks to fix audio for some fmvs (day of sigma, trailers, etc)
Limited TDP to 10
fmv audio is missing for some videos without installing wmp11 via protontricks
Finally works fully with Proton GE 7-55 and wmp11 via protontricks
mesa_glthread=true gamemoderun %command%
wmv doesn't have audio. Use mesa_glthread=true
could be solved.

The games themselves will run fine, but watch the intro cut-scenes online
The mid-game cut-scenes in X8 will play without audio.
Tabbing back in while in windowed sometimes makes the game fullscreen and trying to tab back out will not work until the game is windowed again from the main menu.
None of the intro movies that play before the games work.
Experimental now causes all games to show up as a black screen, even though intro FMVs work.
Should get fixed eventually, it's been very on and off with Experimental and these Legacy Collections. Base proton works fine for gameplay but the FMVs all lack audio.
Works great and will only get better...if you're willing to forgo a few FMVs for the time being. All major plot FMVs work as far as i know!
Some minor FMVs (Such as Day of Sigma, most trailers and the intro to Megaman X8 are blank)
I did try the protontrick fix but protontricks kept freezing, might get perfect FMVs if anyone gets that working on the deck.
All FMVs are not displaying properly, instead replaced with placeholder error videos.
This report was made playing two stages into Mega Man X5, X7, and X8.
I got the same performance as in Windows by doing this: https://gist.github.com/themaxhero/f2a4ddc9067659e77315d6206bf1ab3a

If you had an permission error before, here's the steps I did
Do step one and two only if you've tried to install wmp11 on the current proton version 5.13
If you just installed the game, possibly skip step one and two
- go to protontricks 743900 --gui
- After that go to default prefix and then delete all data and applications inside the prefix
- Switch the current proton version to the previous version 5.0
- Start the game then exit when you're done starting it
- Now do this command: protontricks 743900 -q wmp11
After that, it should download and make the game and cutscenes fully playable

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Apparently the "protontricks 743900 wmp11" command doesn't seem to work at all as it should. Gives me errors and "permission denied" on the files. Even sudo didn't help the problem. Right now I only know one alternative that the other players suggest. When I downloaded a script from this website: https://gist.github.com/BillFleming/9cf58245c5544896181ce99cb108edb5 and put and install the 0 bytes version to the game directory, the games are playable. Downside, the cutscenes will be skipped but the games themselves will be playable. Unless there's a way to get cutscenes working too, the playable games and other stuff is what you'll get.
Had to enable PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% at initialization options, game is too slow while using DXVK
In order to make any of the games start working, install winetricks and protontricks, open terminal and execute command: protontricks 743900 wmp11 (this will make wmv videos playable, so games won't freeze in a black screen)
With DXVK games are too slow (about 15fps), with WineD3D X7 works just fine, X6 and X5 run at 25~30fps, which is kinda slow, but is playable. Hasn't played X8 yet.
Games are playable, even with framerate kinda low. It detects gamepads (at least detected the Xbox 360 controller) and has no significant bugs or crashes.
protontricks 743900 wmp11 makes the game cutscenes and video galleries work without any problems. Same method goes with the first Mega Man X Legacy Collection.
I wasn't lucky to run the game with vulkan, only opengl with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%. I also used the script from the user below: https://gist.github.com/BillFleming/9cf58245c5544896181ce99cb108edb5 . mf-install has no effect in the game, just skips intros, because the narration cutscenes work well, DK if because of mf-install or not
use the script from https://gist.github.com/BillFleming/9cf58245c5544896181ce99cb108edb5 to create 0 bytes version of every wmv file to make the games playable
sometimes the game stops working, deactivating steamcloud, deleting save files and config.ini from the game files fixes it.

As much as it saddens me, none of the games work. Always end up on a black screen. The menus and museum work REALLY slowly, compared to Windows. Hope that this gets fixed in the future.

With wined3d command and putting refresh rate to 60.00Hz in the config ini, the menu works,but x5-8 refuse to work.

Black Screen. Nothing seemed to work

Launcher now runs but none of the games function. All sit on blacksreen. Assuming emulators are failing. Also had t o alter config file to run game at native resolution of 1920 x 1080
