Initial cinematic sequence is not viewable, but plays audio and can be skipped. The game plays normally after this.
Runs perfect out of the box in both classic and remastered graphics.
Aside from alt-tab, runs flawlessly out of the box.
Use of alt-tab will cause the game to stop accepting input once it is returned to.
Also needs an audio setting to prevent the crackle in the audio. Full setting:
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
To eliminate the audio crackle, add PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 to your launch options.
Process does not stop after exit to desktop. Either the "Stop" button in Steam must be pressed or the process manually killed. Additionally, it may take several times stopping and starting the game before it successfully launches for the first time.
Changed to WinXP on winetricks
Audio does not work after opening cutscene.
Works perfectly out of the box, no tinkering needed.
Audio briefly gives a "record scratch" type effect when alt-tabbing out. It returns to normal quickly and works normally when the game is returned to.
Works out of the box.
Crashes occasionally, but based upon reviews this happens even with Windows players, so this is likely due to game stability in general rather than Proton.
Works out of the box.
Occasional jitter in camera.
After the game initially does the "Social Club" sign in, I signed in but just saw a green check mark that did not go away. After closing and restarting, I then saw a series of captcha images which I was able to solve, and the game started successfully.
Audio will occasionally develop crackling and skips after playing for several hours. Quit and restart fixes the issue.
When attempting to play the "Cutter R.A.C.E." mode, an error is displayed indicating that there is no connection to the Internet even though the machine has a working Internet connection. This mode is therefore not usable.
With the standard Proton version, the game becomes nonresponsive shortly after launch. Switching to experimental fixed this and the game works without any issues.
Does not launch
gamescope -w 1280 -h 720 -W 1920 -H 1080 -f -U -- env PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Tried with GE8-20, GE8-3 (as recommended in several reports), standard Proton, and experimental, with custom launch strings as recommended. Game will not launch.
Used to work, now crashes on launch.
Game used to work, but tried with several versions of Proton and it just crashes.
Supreme Commander supports dual monitors. I could not get this to work.
Tried initially with vanilla Proton, and the game would either run extremely slowly at the menu or not accept input at all. 6.14-GE-2 corrected this and the game runs flawlessly at Ultra settings.
Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
The regular version of Proton resulted in the game locking up after clicking any option on the title screen. Using Glorious Eggroll fixes the issue and the game runs flawlessly on the highest graphical settings.
