Black login screen
The login screen was completely black. If you move mouse over the black area the mouse cursor indicates there is text input fields and buttons. Naturally you can't use them blind.
With my setup you can get only two out of three: beautiful graphics, smooth performance and accurate mouse pointer position
When switching from Vulkan to OpenGL mode the mouse pointer has certain vertical offset. OpenGL would perform better than Vulkan.
You have to adjust the graphics settings a bit to make the game playable
The official servers work well but if you want to join a modded community servers (that are the best ones) the official launcher can't handle mod paths. As a workaround you have to install the mods with a web browser and launch the game with unofficial dayz-linux-cli-launcher like this:
./dayz-launcher.sh -d <mod ids> -- -connect=<server ip>:<server port>
This opens the official launcher where you should simply press the PLAY button to join the server.
Forced Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout)
Without the compatibility change there were frequent crashed at startup and mouse pointer offset issues. With the compatibility change everything seems to work smoothly.
Works perfectly on GNOME+Wayland with Steam Overlay disabled
Random fullscreen problems with Xorg, no problems with Wayland
Without disabling "Steam Overlay while in-game" the game very likely crashes at startup
Launcher is buggy with Proton
The game itself works like a dream but the launcher is a mess as it freezes easily and breaks the downloads.
After getting the registration complete and the Endwalker expansion updated everything worked without any issues. The launcher causes unnecessary CPU load, freezes randomly and breaks downloads frequently.
It's enjoyable even with modest graphics
You have to choose "very low" graphics settings to make the game experience acceptable
Works flawlessly
The graphics is beautiful but demands a lot from the graphics card. Overall, the game works perfectly.
Despite of my old graphics card the game looks beautiful and runs relatively smoothly (around 20 fps).
Works fairly well
Occasional crashes at start-up
Apart from the occasional crash on startup, the game works very well.
With the default Proton version the game shows a strange license related error message ("No SteamApps") and then quits after you press the button. Proton Experimental fixes the issue and everything works perfectly after that.
Didn't start with the default Proton version but changing to Proton Experimental fixed the issue.
Works almost flawlessly
Closing web browsers solved the frame rate related issues.
The game seems to work very well with the default settings, although I had to adjust the mouse sensitivity in the game settings. For some reason, the game process has to be stopped manually when the game is quit.
Works perfectly
The game installed and started without any tinkering. I didn't notice any issues.
After 16 minutes I decided to ask for refunding
The framerate was more like a slideshow
Fonts didn't look right always
If I ever upgrade my graphics card I will reconsider this unique game
Works perfectly
The graphics is quite non-optimized, but the game itself works without issues.
Works smoothly
Randomly (but not often) starts in windowed mode even if fullscreen is chosen in settings
Nothing significant to complain about but the game is very seamless to play.
Works pretty flawlessly
Sometimes the game starts in windowed mode but that can be fixed with alt+enter
I have played almost 200 this game and have been very happy with its performance and stability. The only minor issue I am currently facing is that the number keys don't work with radial menus. As a workaround, you can choose the items with mouse but naturally that's slightly slower.
No music
Runs with GE but no music. I have not experienced any crashes so far. Set the following launch options:
%command% -skipintro -useallavailablecores
Works smoothly
Sometimes taking a screenshot crashes the game
When I tried to install the game first time the installation froze at DirectX phase. After I retried after couple of weeks everything worked smoothly. No freezing or stability issues since that, except occasional crashes when taking a screenshot.
Works smoothly
For some reason the game chooses a non-default sound sink. I have to change it every time at startup with a program called Helvum.
Apart from the audio workaround, the game works perfectly
