Works very well. As to be expected for a native game
In borderless-window aka. windowed fullscreen on wayland the window will not move infront of the task-bar. This could be fixed by right-clicking on the task -> more -> fullscreen (KDE Plasma)

When zooming there is sometimes a small stutter.
Works fine on native.
Runs out of the box

Game runs excellent straight from install. The loading times are also significantly shorter on linux which is a plus.
It's better to play this on linux than on windows.

Runs native with no problems.

The game loads SIGNIFICANTLY faster on Linux than on Windows.
Borderless windowed (which is the default) does not take up the entire screen due to docks, panels, etc. Set to fullscreen in launcher to fix issue.

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command%
Game will straight up not start if you have $XDG_SESSION_TYPE as "wayland".
I can't believe that in 2025 I have to still set SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11. This game still gets DLCs!

Very annoying with fullscreen/windowed bugs in a game where looking at guides/wikis is important in gameplay.
Fullscreen did not work most of the time, but when it does, it moves the fullscreen to fulscreen windowed and you have to realign the window again. Hyprland using wayland.

DRI_PRIME=1 DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="AMD Radeon RX 7700S (RADV NAVI33)" %command%
Check if it will be launched using the dGPU by default, else you may need to specify it via launch command options. You may need to specify the dGPU type for your hardware. If Steam is launched with dGPU, you do not have integrated Graphics, use the dGPU by default or simular, you should not need any launch command. Otherwise i had no (unexpected) issues. (Runs out of the box on Steam Deck, but the default layout is horrible.)

Works good
after alt tabbing sometimes pause button doesn't work
Works almost flawless.only sometimes my space button doesnt work after alt tab

Works natively OOTB minus a tiny artifact.
The map font is slightly blurry, but it isn't very noticeable. If you use Proton, it fixes this tiny artifact, but there is a noticeable considerable performance drop. It is up to you to decide which one to use. I personally play it natively.
Need to use fullscreen instead of borderless window to hide KDE task bar

Better fps and load times. Compared loading times with a high-end PC with Windows and my notebook, the notebook won overall.
Borderless-windowed doesn't hide taskbar.
Better fps stability.

Way better performance on Linux than on Windows (loading time devided by more than 10 times, with up to 2 times more FPS).
As the steam starts another launcher, it's altering launch options like DRI_PRIME=1
- effectively when the game itself (and not the paradox launcher!) didn't launched with said option.
The fix was to go to NVIDIA X Server Settings
-> PRIME Profiles -> NVIDIA (Performance Mode). That will force any application to run on external graphics, instead of going check if the application needs external graphics (and fail in case when I start play from paradoxes launcher that I started through steam).

No issues, fine.
On KDE plasma the panel still shows in fullscreen borderless, so you have to play in full screen unless you tinker.

Slight artifacting and blurry image

Setting multisampling to 2, 4, 8 works but 16 crashes to desktop on Wayland. X11 doesn't have this problem.

Performance equal to or better than Windows. Great experience.
Better performance on Linux than on Windows. Works perfectly out of the box.
Fullscreen works until you tab out and back in again. Then the task bar is always in the way. Same goes for windowed mode.

Game runs smooth, performance is identical to windows 10 on the same PC.
After alt+tabiing out of game and coming back game is in windowed mode instead of full screen. To fix it I had to change game settings to windowed and then back to fullscreen.

Not working with Proton-GE-9-11, Proton Experimental, or Native.

Game would not launch when using steam as a snap package. Using the current Steam deb package from the website, the game launches and runs smoothly.
Gets a bit Choppy at 5 speed

Forced the use of Proton
Native window was (partially) blocked by taskbar

Go into Properties and set the resolution to 1600x1000 and start the game, exit out of the game go back into Properties and set the resolution for internal and external display.
After updating launcher, you have to exit and re launch to complete the update
A lot of the text in game is small and is best to set GUI Scale in-game to 1.1
On steam deck, the resolution change is required for in game menus to appear properly.

gamemoderun %command%
Native version doesn't hide Plasma panels in fullscreen. Not a problem when using Gamescope or Proton.
Stable enough in singleplayer. Often crashes while hosting multiplayer game in native version.

Crashes with the first 10-30 years is related to the Ottomans annexing the Byzantines whilst they have Athens as a Pronoia subject if it crashes save before the annex then copy the saves to the prefix save folder and go to proton experimental and get past the annexation and then copy the new saves back to the native save folder and change back to the native it should run fine for the rest of that run. Hope this helps anyone else :D
Refer to Tinkering

I disabled the Steam Overlay. Otherwise performance is terrible and the game crashs within 5-20 years. UI options in the steam client in Nov 2023 didn't work, so I manually renamed the file for the rendering script. The command is mv ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/old.gameoverlayrenderer.so
Frequent crashs, but fixed with tinker steps.

Just werks (on my machine)
I have experienced equal or better performance on Linux than on Windows. Loading screens seems to be faster as well. I do not know if this is bias, me remembering wrong, or the game just running better on Linux (on my machine of course).
NB! Graphics card: 3060 mobile

Had to go into a gnome extension to disable the top bar via the extension "Hide top bar".
Not as performant as when playing on windows, but very close.

Works perfectly on GNOME+Wayland with Steam Overlay disabled
Random fullscreen problems with Xorg, no problems with Wayland
Without disabling "Steam Overlay while in-game" the game very likely crashes at startup
