Not working on DX11 or DX12
Game launches, black screen, needs to be forcibly killed
Works out of the box Used 2 startup commands to see if i could increase performance in 4k to stable above 60fps
WINE_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2
%command%
sometimes the game had a problem focusing back to the game controls after alt tabing to browser
in 2 hours of gameplay the game crashed my whole system reliably every 20-30 minutes. This was on default linux mint 21.3 kernel version 5.15. Updating to 6.8 fixed this issue (as far as I can tell, I did not want to risk it past 2 hour window). I have no problems plaing other games on 5.15 kernel nor stability problems, so it's clearly something that game is doing wrong.
Works almost flawlessly
Closing web browsers solved the frame rate related issues.
The game seems to work very well with the default settings, although I had to adjust the mouse sensitivity in the game settings. For some reason, the game process has to be stopped manually when the game is quit.
WINE_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2 mangohud PROTON_NO_ESYNC=0 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=0 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=0 %command%
Works flawlessly.
Works out of the box with regular proton versions as well.
The performance degrades as you increase the graphics, more so than on other titles. This is especially evident running on dx12.
When moving the camera very fast it doesn't seem to pick up all the mouse movement; in effect mouse deceleration.
Game runs fine with just minor inconveniences.
Suddenly working again.
General lag caused by graphical issues
Actions seem a bit delayed
The game is suddenly working again. Out of nowhere. Must have just needed to reboot I guess.
Not working at all anymore.
Tried multiple versions of Proton, but nothing is working anymore. Proton 7.0-3 Proton 6.3-8 GE-Proton7-10 Proton Experimental
Must have been an update that borked it. Anyone find a fix?
Runs Great!
No issues to date.
Don't even get the menu to choose DX11
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here... I see other people at least getting SOME results. Maybe Ubuntu 21.10 is a bad idea for Steam... anyone have any ideas?
Works great, as long as you go for DX11, and are willing to completely re-install the game every week.
DX12 has serious performance issues, but DX11 works fine.
Every time there is a client patch through Steam, the game seems to get corrupted and prevents reaching the main menu (black screen). So far, the only way around this which I have found is to completely remove MO2 and its compatdata dir and do a re-install.
Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
DLSS, didn't work out of the box for me too. Creating a file named dxvk.conf in MortalOnline2/Binaries/Win64/ , with dxgi.nvapiHack = False in it didn't work for me. I just add PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command% in launch options and all worked!
Latest client update causes menu to be unreachable
MO2 was working fine for me (disregarding network issues), but since the latest client patch, the game does not start at all.
Checking the Proton logs does not yield anything useful looking, so my guess is that they changed something with EAC, which is now blocking Proton/Linux.
Silently fails after pressing play.
Only getting 50 fps with 2080
My previous report that it wouldn't start up was solved by uninstalling and reinstalling. Then it started up just fine. Works fine so far
Works perfectly, just a small thing to do for DLSS to work
DLSS, didn't work out of the box even if it was appearing in the options, to make it work I had to create a file named dxvk.conf in MortalOnline2/Binaries/Win64/ , with dxgi.nvapiHack = False
in it.
Doesn't even start.
EAC is used now I'm not sure if it was used during the beta, but game wouldn't even start. Tried multiple versions of proton
I'm using latest GE for a few videos here and there (intro and a very few tutorial videos). But you can perfectly skip that and use latest Proton (6.3-8) only.
+200h game time and only problem that I've noted is game sometimes freezes when loading in to the game but not sure is that linux related.
Working correctly
They fixed everything I posted on my last report 24 hours after the patch so is not 100% working
They fixed everything I posted on my last report 24 hours after the patch so is not 100% working as always. I just did not had time to update my report until now. release is about to happen and the last big update with furniture and such has even improved my FPS
Just make sure as I mention before to temp switch to directx11 and regular proton not experimental
After the housing upgrade today for some reason playing like I have for 6 months with the "Directx 12" option now is choppy and low FPS.. I had to switch to "Directx 11" and works like before, another note, with the latest proton experimental, it will just stay "loggin in" forever. you have to change the latest regular proton option in steam and will log in with out a program just not the experimental, so avoid experimental for now.
Just make sure as I mention before to temp switch to directx11 and regular proton "not experimental" it was working before housing update with both of those perfectly for 6 months + but something changed so this should be temporary
Works out out of the box
Direct X 12 DLSS made the game really choppy. Had to use Direct X 11 for stability and turn off DLSS.
Use Direct X 11 for stability and update to NVIDIA 495.44 for best performance.
Doesnt even start up.
When pressing 'play' in steam, it simply acts like its starting up, just to immediately show the 'play' button again. No window even pops up.
EAC appears to work ATM!
I had a issue where Steam Verify failed to detect corrupt files so deleting the game and re-installing fixed the issue.
This appears to no longer work since recent update.
Tried most tricks including GE. Game just sits at a blank screen for 10seconds then ctd.
Game still played perfect.
This is the after stress test client, still played perfectly fine, I read someone had a anti-cheat issue, he is confused, this game played perfectly fine with the UAC anti-cheat, maybe is disabled for Linux, can't tell why, but works. I actually spoke with other linux only users in game as well.
For a new and rather aspiring title, I was absolutely stunned finding out it runs practically out of box.
Rather rare graphical glitches, but nothing to be concerned about over 400+ hours of play on Linux exclusively.
Eventhough EAC is deployed on client side, I am still able to play since its deployment few months ago.
Game now has easy anti-cheat
I was not able to get it to start at all. Early reports say it was working, so I assume they have recently included the anti-cheat that breaks it for wine/proton.
New patch still works great, default steam play settings with proton experimental
It has no problems for me
as of today this works great with proton experimental this may change depending on the game patch.
My friend with a Radeon and AMD had to use proton 6 instead of experimental and this made it for her to work fine.
Just select DirectX 11 on launch menu for stability.
Lowering master volume removed crackling.
Report written during the stress test.
