strangle -v 1 144 gamemoderun %command%
This is a problem with windows also needs to have OpenAL32.dll in game root directory you can get this from pcgamingwiki or openal website.
game physics don't all work if the framerate is over 144fps so i used libstrangle (see launch commands) probably best to match your monitors refresh rate. game runs at 500fps if uncapped
have to say no here due to the media foundation workaround & the performance(which is fine once everything is loaded in)
mf-install & mfcab install
slow to load in textures / shaders / begin play when first starting a level/map slight jerks as some things load for the first time.
Note for high core count CPUs the media foundation dlls won't work with any more than 8 cores enabled so to play I have to restrict linux kernel to 8 cores on boot. there's a note regarding this on the mf-install github page
proton-5.4-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
mfinstall and mfcab

mini map isn't there, also missing textures and invisible units, not really playable, Native version is also broken doesn't launch (it actually looks for cossacks3.exe even though the linux binaries are there, but they also do not work when attempting to launch outside of steam) checked libs none missing. Would not recommend buying this seems to have been abandoned by developers based on the steam discussion.
missing textures, missing mini map, invisible units
once it's running there's no issues, more stable than windows in fact(always crahes for me randomly under windows)
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=”xaudio2_6=n,b; xaudio2_7=n,b” PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Used Proton-6.20-GE-1 (Glorious Eggroll) and installed xact, "protontricks 265550 xact"
needs xaudio2_6, xaudio2_7 and xact.
input lag, although this may not be linux specific, game is a poor port job and has issues on windows too, unlocking the framerate helps but causes problem with aiming, using vsync and locking framerate helps (would recommend 60 need to do more testing). make user.ini file in the game directory and put: gmpcr_unlock_frame_rate=True in it, there's also an fov mod to increase fov have a look on pcgamingwiki for that(or the steam discussion)
Needs some tweaking and is a poorly ported game even the native windows version, but once you get it running it'll run sweet and work without issue.
ran out of the box, surprisingly with default proton, no compat options used, *did not launch with proton GE(6.13-GE-1).
Completely playable, no issues to note, did not encounter the flashing textures that other users reported(might be a nvidia vs amd thing or mesa version thing?) played a solid 2.6 hours so far.
for me on my hardware/software worked out of the box no compatibility options used.
defaulted to 1920x1080 (im using 1440p monitor) to get rid of driver out of date msg use uplay overlay Shift+F2 and just click the X on it, very surprised it worked ootb played a bit, no issues. benchmark averaged 120+fps occasional dips to 73, nothing below 60, I ran unlocked framrate but should be a good experience with a locked 60.
if it works consistantly then it would be a yes here but because it failed to launch again after initial play it's a no.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Took a few launches to get ubisoft connect working
noticed some audio not playing, radio/phone comms and at one point voices during a cutscene(may not be linux related or could be my sound config).
The game started up and played once, where i went through a good section of gameplay, no issues other than the aforementioned missing sounds, however after exiting the game and then attempting to launch it again it now will no longer start, get Far Cry 3 splash screen, then a black window for a second then it disappears leaving ubisoft connect running but no game. Something odd going on there. will try playing around some more with it.
PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command% same as i use for far cry 3
Using Proton Experimental because Proton 6.3.7 crashes after splash screen with D3D11 error, Also in "steamapps/compatdata/233270/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon/GamerProfile.xml" I set D3D11MultithreadedRendering="1", default is 0, game works without this setting but it's something I've also used with FC3 so trying it out here too.
Ubisoft connect does not quit after you exit the game so you'll need to do this manually it sits in the system tray, you can either right click and quit or click "stop" in steam to kill it (same as some other ubisoft games and not a big deal)
Running Proton experimental works without issue.
in some cases the loading screens appear to have frozen although they continue normally after a short time, this may not be proton / linux related, seems to be some occasional slowdown but brief and seems more like a slow motion effect than dropped frames/stutter however this is with vsync off.
Could not launch the game, it would try, splash screen then a brief black screen then crash to desktop, tried a few different proton versions, seems it launches fine on 4.2.9, so that got me thinking, maybe it's a vulkan issue with newer proton versions, used "PROTON_USE_WINED3D" and now it launches & plays, backtrace from steam run via terminal points to "amdvlk32.so"
Tested with Proton-5.9-GE-2-MF also works
Runs without issue, there are other no-proton/linux related tweaks for modern systems to make things a bit better (fix controller bug etc).
Used to launch but no longer wroks
same issue with heat and payback
AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV gamemoderun %command%
some flickering and weirdness with the text again solved by using RADV
Ran at aroun 15fps without forcing RADV in launch options (GPU not being utilised)
initially it may launch windowed and slightly offscreen, can drag window and set options though so not a problem.
Plays like a sweetheart see...yeah...
Desktop mouse cursor visible when moved in game, although this may be the same via windows(not tested) but doesn't effect gameplay and can be moved out of frame.
The game is still very enjoyable OOTB just missing the videos, which can be repetitive anyway during gameplay.
Videos do not play, No voice/sound in throne room, however this does not impact gameplay.
I did not experience any issues like others have mentioned like invisible launcher or crashing when changes to settings are made, was able to run game at 2560x1440 both under hardware (VEGA 64 option) and Direct Draw HAL option, did not test software rendering mode though. Played 8 hours and many battles.
Intros play main menu loads-ish
unable to interact with main menu intro video seems to replay in backround and hitting escape brings you back to the intro video as it's playing, seemingly no way to do anything, GPGnet fails to install bundled redist which seems to be Microsoft Visual J# .net could be something to do with it.
Need to set resolution via launch command in steam or you get a grey box, other than that works great.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% /fullscreen 2560 1440
Proton Experimental
gamemoderun mangohud AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV DXVK_ASYNC=1 RADV_PERFTEST=rt VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command% --launcher-skip
Game would run but not utilise GPU / CPU GPU staying at idle speeds
Crashing display driver when RT toggled
adding AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV allowd the game to utilise my hardware properly in DX12 mode, have not been able to get RT working yet but even on windows that tanks performance.
Launch options "taskset -c 0-3 %command% as would not launch on my 16 core CPU.
Had to launch more than once for uplay to update and install ubisoft connect, also wouldn't start the game until i removed "Systemdetection.dll" from "...\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist\src\SYSTEM" directory, This isn't a linux / proton specific issue it happens to people on windows also(old problem it seems), once that's done it works.
Motion blur can be disabled in the steamapps/compatdata/235600/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Ubisoft/Blacklist/videoSettings.ini (along with other settings, however it won't be there until you launch the game at least once). ubisoft connect needs to be closed manually after exiting the game but that's the same with other ubisoft titles(Far Cry 5/6). Recommend you keep it to 60fps and use vsnyc some in game physics bug out if you go above that.
Shows keyboard prompts unless you unbind the shared keyboard/controller binds in the options menu so if jump has a controller button and a keyboard key bound then you want to only have the controller button bound or keyboard prompts will display
Same problem as with playing on windows, have to manually fix the shared controller / keyboard button bindings so they are no longer shared to have controller button prompts displayed instead of keyboard button prompts, game allows 3 button binds per action, you can ubind a key by assigning the same key to something else. (like up/down/left/right).
Due to the inconsistent performance issues have to say no, renders the game unplayable.
Game at first seemingly runs fine however turns into a slideshow when there's a lot of activity and taking damage although it seems inconsistent, other reports of this on steam forum going back a few years so may not be Proton/Linux specific issue.
Crashes immediately on launch
Will not launch with proton experimental as others have reported, immediately crashes showing their bugsplat bug reporting tool.
Had to boot linux with maxcpus command as they game would not launch on my 5950X (see prior report)
Seems to have problems with high core count CPUs, taskset did not help had to restrict CPU cores at boot with maxcpus=4 (as a test) added to the linx boot line via grub.
