No problems when it comes to gameplay. Runs smothly in fullscreen on high settings in 2560x1440 with no anti-aliasing (pointless in this resolution for this game) 100% stable. There is an occasional tendency for the mouse to get stuck in the middle part of the screen (about 4:3 screen size region) when in the menu, which is fixed by alt-tabing. Steam overlay is broken (no text and graphics).
The game freezes on the start menu (using arrows triggers sound which suggests that the menu is working, but the picture is not working at all). No workaround seems to work. The gog.com version works without problems out of the box on Wine 3.0.3 (default Wine config, no additional installations, fullscreen 1600x1200 res, 2560x1440 res - everything just works). As this is allegedly identical to the GOG version, this behavior is bizarre. What am I missing here?
The launcher added to all Total War games is broken under Proton/WINE. It appears completelly white BUT the buttons actually work (to start the game you have to click somewhere on the top right region). The game works great from that point, although setting anything above 1920x1080 drastically drops the FPS (probably a problem with the old engine). The most serious issue is not related to gameplay - after quitting the game it is still running untill you kill every process related to it manually (all ".exe", all wine related, and the "steam web helper" group).
The launcher starts without a problem. Pressing the Play button, makes the launcher disapear but the game does not launch (the "running" status on the list is held for a couple of seconds and then goes back to normal).
The game works good on video and input, however there is a very serious problem with unnatural crackling sound (not by design).
The in-game graphics flickers (terrain and folliage). Performance problems when using menus. The game crashed every single time after 30-60 seconds of gameplay.
