I get an error message, it refuses to start. I tried many Proton versions, from 5.13-6 to 9.0-2
Proton-GE doesn't work either. It doesn't even show the error message.
It works fine on Kubuntu 24.04
When I tried this game on Fedora 40 it didn't run, but I switched to Kubuntu 24.04 and it works without issues. I played the game from start to finish.
I've played about 4 hours on Linux, so far so good
Aside from installing Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime, the experience is indistinguishable from Windows.
Works out of the box on Linux
The game is a poor mobile port though. Sometimes there's some input issues, but it's not Proton's fault.
Works OOTB
I finished all 5 chapters, no crashes, no tinkering, it just works :)
It just works
I played both singleplayer and multiplayer content, both worked as expected. Just don't forget to have Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime installed.
I applied a few tweaks to config files, as recommended in the PCGamingWiki
In the autoexec.cfg I changed host_thread_mode to 0
In the zoom_p3_fix.cfg I changed cl_threaded_bone_setup to 0
None of these are Linux specific, the game runs without it, they're just to fix achievements not unlocking properly and to avoid crashes when multiple NPC are spawning in some maps
I finished the campaign in The Insane Path without crashes
I REGRET NOTHIIIING!
It runs fine so far
In the current patch the game runs fine, just make sure you have Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime installed. The only issue I've found is an in-game error message erroneously detecting the system as having single-channel memory, you just have to click Accept and you're good to go, but it pops up every time the game starts. Other than that the game crashed once in my playthrough, but I think it could happen on Windows as well.
Works fine OOTB
I played without the Next Generation Content, but there are still some minor graphical glitches in some missions, like a few textures flickering. But I finished the campaign without any major problems, the game didn't crash and the performance was great
