Works flawlessly, mods **can** be installed both trough manual download and in-game browser
To find your mods folder go to:
"$steam_library_folder"/steamapps/compatdata/284150/pfx/dosdevices/drive_c/users/steamuser/"My Documents"/BeamNG.drive/mods
The installation procedure is the same as on Windows.
Runs out of the box. Some FPS drops in some areas, but that is expected for these types of games.
Works out of the box with current default proton. Controllers also run as expected.
Some fps drops, not sure if it is also common running native
SDL_LINUX_JOYSTICK_CLASSIC=1 %command%
Necessary to run: protontricks 307960 d3dcompiler_47
Need to use "SDL_LINUX_JOYSTICK_CLASSIC=1 %command%" launch option to get TFRP rudder pedals to work.
Previous workaround posted here apparently (also shown on wineHQ) is not needed anymore. Runs flawlessly out of the box. Multiplayer was not tested.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% is necessary to fix performance.
To fix some fonts, go to the game's prefix C drive ( $steam/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1154840/dosdevices/c:/windows/ ) There delete both the gdiplus.dll in system32 and syswow64 folders.
After that: protontricks 1154840 gdiplus should run. Now fonts should be fine
Runs Smoothly, no issues at all. No mods were tested
Runs out of the box. Seems exactly like windows versions that I see on youtube.
Runs out of the box on proton 5.13-6
If you plan on using a joystick, apparently you need to use current proton experimental (as of 2021/03/24) and connect your controller AFTER the game has loaded.
As explained, some performance problems after some hours of play. A quick restart fixes it. Can be enjoyed normally.
Sometimes, in the middle of gameplay the average FPS will drop dramatically. This can be fixed by saving and reloading, or sometimes closing and opening the game again.
I couldn't find the exact cause of this. It almost seems like a memory leak, worsening after many hours of uninterrupted gameplay (3+), RAM on the system seems nominal.
I noticed that the game rarely went above 8gb of ram, maybe that's it.
Use launch options shown in previous reports. Runs flawlessly
Use proton experimental (as of 2021/08/05), should get past no codecs error. Menu background is bugged but game is fully playable.
Use proton experimental (as of 06/08/2021) to get around codec error on start. Menu background will be bugged, but the game works normally.
Use proton experimental
Driving seems fine, ZusiDisplay doesn't work, taking a great part of the simulation out of it. Watch the German forums to check on updates.
Had very few stuckups, but don't know if they are caused by proton or natural occurrences even on Windows
Zusi Display will not work
("https://forum.zusi.de/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=10844") This is the post on the German forums talking about using Zusi under wine or proton.
