Installing the additional Windows Components using Protontricks fixes "ERROR: Couldn't initialize DirectShow". Game runs fine after that.
Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental, protontricks
Install Windows Media Player 11 and DirectShow.

When you Alt-tab out of the game, It hangs for several seconds when returning to the game and the game will stretch to the default resolution of your monitor if you were using a different resolution.

I tried multiple versions of Proton including Proton GE but got the same results, a crash from WINE which led to nowhere.

Able to load into the menu with stock proton but doesn't load into the game and gives a codec error. Loads into the game and runs fine if you use GE proton. I did use a keyboard and mouse while playing and an external monitor.
