If a gamepad is connected you can't use the mouse (or the gamepad) making it unplayable
Game seems locked to 30 FPS, making it very unpleasant to play
Still hangs on the splash screen. Tried various proton switches. Log shows this over and over: 2789.027:002d:002e:trace:seh:__regs_NtGetContextThread 0xc0: ebp=0b6df108 esp=0b6dee80 eip=f7f0c937 cs=0023 ss=002b flags=00000286 2789.027:002d:002e:trace:seh:__regs_NtGetContextThread 0x188: eax=00000091 ebx=0000003f ecx=0ce1ea80 edx=00000001 esi=00000000 edi=0ce1ed08
Still broken on Proton 5.0.7, hangs on splash screen
Just hangs on splash screen at launch
Proton-6.8-GE-1
Hangs on first splash screen
Tried using Proton-6.14-GE-2
Still hangs at the initial splash screen
Tried using Proton-7.1-GE-2
Single player runs fine, but seeing as how the game is all about playing online and you can't connect to servers to find a game I am not rating it higher than bronze.
Proton-6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.14-GE-2
Works perfectly with Proton-6.14-GE-2, cutscenes and all. Played for an hour or so, did not experience any crashes or any other issues. Occasional frame drops and long load times but I do not know if that's just normal.
Campaign freezes as soon as it starts
I was able to click and start a campaign, but after clicking through 3-4 boxes of text the game simply freezes. The multiplayer option in the menu was greyed out, so online functionality might be broken as well.
First run got stuck at a loading screen after choosing New Game. After a restart of the game, it crashes before even showing the menu.
Starts fullscreen in 800*600, have to press ALT+ENTER to go into windowed mode. Then kill the game with ALT+F4 and restart it, it is perfectly playable in windowed mode.
Game installs and runs, detects Steam Controller and has decent performance. The graphic glitches as reported by others make the quite unplayable however. No Proton tweaks had any impact.
Not playable for now
RADV_PERFTEST=nosam VKD3D_CONFIG=DXR11 gamemoderun %command% -fullscreen
First launch just froze. Added launch options which let me get to the menu. Went into settings, backing out it crashed the entire PC. Did not try the game again, will wait for some updates before I decide to try my luck again.
Crashes immediately after intro videos, never reaches a menu
Also tried with Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST, same behavior
Cannot increase resolution above 1080p, perhaps a limitation with the game itself.
Given that you can't progress past the first minute or so it's completely unplayable.
The game just shows a black screen after your first death in the tutorial
Had to alt-tab out and in again for the game to get focus
You have to rename or delete the file SDNXLFonts.dll in the games installation folder for text to appear in the game.
Gets to the main menu, but clicking New Game just freezes the game on a black screen.
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
Game does not register keyboard input. Mouse and gamepad can be used to control cursor on screen, but not possible to interact with the game beyond main menu.
Unable to interact with game after main menu. After initial videos play, game freezes on black screen. Restarting the game and choosing Continue puts you in the game, but you cannot do anything but move the cursor around.
Proton-6.5-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.5-GE-2
Game didn't behave properly in fullscreen, switched to windowed and it was OK
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
Using Proton 5.0.9 seemed to register my gamepad as two devices, making me play multiplayer with myself. Switched to Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST and it seems to behave as expected.
Logitech F310 had wrong mappings, no way to remap in the game either
Goes into main menu but crashes trying to load a race. Also does not let you pick a resolution above 1280x1024
Assuming the full game is not much different from the demo, everything should work just fine.
I had no problem with background music like someone else mentioned.
Game launches, but soon as you pick an episode to play there's just a black screen. Does not respond to mouse clicks or keyboard input.
Just a black screen. Tried to launch with "-windowed -noborder" but it still runs fullscreen.
Seems to work just fine. Gotta change a setting in the ingame options to switch the prompts to use gamepad icons.
Game starts and lets you start a new game, but it crashed after a few moments of playing
It crashes so often it is pure chance if you somehow get to play it at all
Game crashes constantly, but once it somehow made it to the main menu without crashing, and then I was able to play ~10 levels without any issues. I quit out of the game and have not been able to launch it again since then.
Game does not register any hotkeys on the keyboard so you have to use mouse only. I found that annoying and it makes the game harder.
Crashes on startup
Tried using Proton 5.0.9 as well as Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
Game itself ran perfectly out of the box. However to change resolution from 720p you need to use the Config.exe or just edit ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/KungFuStrike/Content/data/Config.xna.xml directly.
Crashes immediately
The game looks like it tries to install .NET each time, so I assume it fails which is why the game won't run. Tried using Proton 5.0.9 and Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
Does not show any window at all, just crashes after a few seconds when trying to launch.
Also tested with Proton-5.21-GE-1, just as broken
Crashes after intro cutscene
Tried with Proton Experimental as well as Proton GE 7-10.
Crashes as soon as gameplay starts
It shows the intro sequence but as soon as the actual gameplay is about to start the game crashes
Game froze after completing first level, and did not save any progress. Have not tried restarting with "PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%" to see if that makes a difference.
Runs just like as if it were a native game. It's a Unity title so not that surprising.
Starts fullscreen in 800*600, have to press ALT+ENTER to go into windowed mode. Then kill the game with ALT+F4 and restart it, it is perfectly playable in windowed mode.
Black screen with a cursor shows up, then immediately crashes
Black screen with a cursor shows up, then immediately crashes. If using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 the game doesnt crash at once, but instead hangs at the black screen with the cursor.
Crashes immediately, tried PROTON_USE_D9VK, disabling d3d11, etc etc.
Crashes immediately on launch
Also tried using Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST, same thing
Black screen, crashes instantly. Tried with Proton-6.1-GE-2.
It also changed my desktop resolution from 1440p@144hz to 1080p@60hz in the process.
Still broken, just black screen and then crashes on Proton 6.3-2
It also changed my desktop resolution from 1440p@144hz to 1080p@60hz in the process.
Does not even load the main menu
Had to use "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" for the game to not crash instantly. With PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 the game launches and shows some sort of loading screen while maxing out my CPU. After a little while the main menu music starts playing and then it crashes. Same result with Proton-6.14-GE-2
Freezes soon as the actual gameplay starts
Using Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST the intro videos play, otherwise you are just treated to a black screen. After the videos are done and the game shows you how to attack and dodge, it freezes. Tried using PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 but no change.
Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.1-GE-2
Stadia controller was not detected, but Logitech F310 worked flawlessly
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Using Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST since it comes with the MF fixes included, allowing videos to play.
The game itself launched without issue. Gamepad only registers input now and then. Tried starting a level using the keyboard but could not get past a white window at the level selection screen.
Got the white screen stuff at first. Restarted game and picked Beautiful instead of Fantastic and it seems to work as expected.
The game started once. Then I tried to start a co-op game, which crashed it. After that I can't seem to even start the game again.
Tried using D9VK but getting constant microstuttering which makes it quite unplayable. Maybe could get better results toying around with graphics settings.
The stuttering makes it completely unplayable
Did not seem to pick up my Logitech F310 controller
Constant stuttering
Crashes at once
I also tried using Proton Experimental, Proton 6.3.8 and ProtonGE 7.14. They all crash and burn.
Shows a black window and then closes down
Intro videos flicker but the game itself runs just fine with GE-Proton7-37
Ran at 60FPS with the default 'Epic' settings. Solved a few puzzles, no issues from what I could tell.
Crashes on launch. Also tried with Proton-GE with the same result.
By default with Proton Experimental, the games launcher will not run but the game shows as running. Switching to Proton GE 9-9 makes the launcher work and also the game itself. No need to rename .exe files or anything.
Totally borked since they upgraded to Unity 2018.1.9, game will crash at once regardless of which renderer you choose.
Game seems designed for mouse and keyboard. If gamepad is connected you're unable to "press space to continue" as soon as the game starts. Had to unplug the gamepad and relaunch the game.
I have Proton Experimental set as my default Proton runtime, havent tested with the latest stable. All I know is the game seems to run fine, videos and all.
Loads a bit slow, but gamepad and general gameplay was working. However the game itself was abandoned during Early Access so there's not much to play.
Installs and starts, audio plays but there is only a black screen. Tried all Proton variables with no difference.
Still broken on Proton 5.0.7
Tried using Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF as well, same black screen.
Crashes on launch
Using Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST. You have to force a Proton version to be able to install the game at all, I guess it has an empty Linux depot or something.
Everything just works. Finished the game without issues.
The audio noises and how it goes out of sync constantly makes it unplayable in my opinion.
Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.9-GE-6-ST
Audio keeps going out of sync, and there is constant noises when choices pop up or sometimes when scenes transition.
Gamepad (Logitech F310) is detected but cannot be mapped correctly. Neither Xbox nor PS4 configuration works properly. The rest of the game itself appears to work well enough.
Runs fine out of the box and gamepad works now. Also works fine with D9VK.
MANGOHUD=1 MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=60 %command% skiplogos
With default settings the game seems to run at too high frame rates for the game to handle, it would crash frequently or sometimes even freeze the entire PC.
Using Mangohud to lock the game at 60 FPS it plays without any issues after a few hours at least
