Nothing happens for a while, no window appears, eventually crashes.
Never Starts
When running with ProtonGE 6.1 nothing visibly happens when you click start, though many processes start. No window ever opens, but it also doesn't ever crash, I left it "running" for half an hour like this before manually crashing.
Will not start
I swear I've played this game on this machine with this same setup before and it ran fine, but I just tried starting it 3 times to write this report, and it just won't start.
Will not run
No window appears, says it's running for ~30s and stops running.
Resolution Does not scale, All text in UIs is missing, entering fullscreen turns everything red, Crashes on starting new game.
Game is always the same resolution regardless of window size, occupying only the same square in the top right corner regardless of whether the window was smaller than it or much larger, even in fullscreen though it scaled to fill the screen the resolution did not change. The initial main menu displays fine, but as soon as you enter any other menu there is no text visible, though it otherwise appears functional. When you click start game from the initial menu a blank text box appears and as soon as you click to progress the game crashes.
Runs well with minor issues that don't affect core gameplay.
Audio output is perfect, but there's some minor issues with openmic mode, they appear not to cripple it, but I didn't test this extensively.
Mouse is trapped at all times, and game does not properly conform to resizing.
Immediate Crash
Crash window with location of log appears, but steam doesn't recognise it having stopped and requires manual intervention.
Crashes on startup
Transparent window appears preventing interaction with anything else on that monitor, and the better part of a minute later a crash window appears with location of logs.
Nothing obvious in logs.
Runs Well with Proton
Native would crash before the window had fully loaded, but running via proton works great.
No version will run.
Native version has a running process but no window ever appears. Running via Proton crashes instantly. The Beta build behaves the same.
Instant crash with or without older proton version suggested by others.
Crashes on Splash Screen
Runtime Error: R6025
- pure virtual function call
Runs well
In fullscreen there's a black bar along the bottom, and the ui at the top is offscreen by the same amount.
The lighting issues will stop the vast majority of players bothering, the multitasking issues are also quite unpleasant.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Lighting is completely bugged making the game extremely difficult to play. As you are entering a level it looks fine, but as soon as control is handed to the player you are plunged into darkness and only vague outlines of some shapes and individual light emitting objects are visible. You can usually see well enough to find the enemies and navigate the level, but with quite a bit of difficulty, and you'll spend an awful lot of time randomly jumping at walls trying to figure out how to progress.
Escaping the game window is difficult, once I succeeded it crashed the game and left a black window stuck accross that monitor until I forcibly crashed the game.
Needed additional launch option: PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% to start.
Instant Crash
Splash screen briefly appears, then crash warning replaces it.
Splashscreen appears then "Fatal Error"
Takes a really really long time for anything to happen, eventually there is a splashscreen, about half that time again and a "Fatal Error" window pops up.
Runs Well.
Perma-Fullscreen, no way to escape it, alt-tabbing causes screen to go black and requires forcing a crash to escape.
Same invisible video as has been previously reported.
Generic Statement That It Doesn't Work
Nothing happens for a while, then a window appears with "Fatal Error"
Borked
Looks like it's going to do something for a while, disappears then ages later pops up with "Fatal Error"
Won't Run
Says it's running, but there is no window, no audio, no anything, doesn't even crash.
Immediate Crash
Splash screen flashes on screen before crash.
Launcher opens pretty glitchily with artifacting, but game crashes back to launcher immediately.
Tried Native first, runs pretty well but with awful performance and completely locked in cursor. Via Proton it tries to run, but can't go past the launcher/splashscreen.
Instant Crash
Nothing at first, then a window with a crash message flashes up and away too quickly to read it.
Crashes before you can do anything useful.
Default version crashes instantly, selecting directx8 at launch takes you into the main menu and everything appears to be working, but as soon as the first cutscene finishes it crashes.
