I registered an account, played through the tutorial, chose a character and engaged in the first combat. No flaws noticed.
Played through one skirmish of the tutorial and it all seemed fine. Upon trying to exit, the game crashes instead.
I followed the instructions here: https://www.protondb.com/app/359320#mgKLF3IeGu
Then to deal with the login screen crashing I installed allfonts using protontricks. I'm sure allfonts was excessive, but it worked.
Casual FPS / RPG. Controller aiming w/ FPS is always slightly worse than mouse for FPS games, but works just fine.
In-game Settings -> Display Dynamic Resolution: On Dynamic Resolution Target FPS: 60
Had one disconnect from the remote host. I assume it was unrelated to Proton / Steam Deck.
Default framerate is slow. I strongly recommend players change the in-game display settings to "Dynamic Resolution".
Most of the text is easy to read. Some of the plot text, which is read to you by a narrator, is small.
Connected to a host via steam invite as well as code, both work fine. Haven't hosted a game on the Deck yet (but have on my linux desktop repeatedly and it works just fine)
I had to delete (or move) the file located here "steamapps/common/Halo The Master Chief Collection/easyanticheat/easyanticheat_x64.so" Then I was able to launch the game using the option "Play Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled (Mods and Limited Services)"
It will prompt you to log in to Microsoft and link your Steam account to an XBox one.
Online is not possible for me at this time.
For the game to work at all, you need to move or remove this file: "steamapps/common/Halo The Master Chief Collection/easyanticheat/easyanticheat_x64.so" Then launch using the "Play Halo: MCC Anti-Cheat Disabled (Mods and Limited Services)" option.
The demo works
I only played online for a few minutes to verify. This was with the demo version of Hammerwatch 2 since it hasn't released yet.
Proton 7. Had one error pop up for singleplayer but clicking through it allowed the game to play properly.
Played to the "Chapel". The whole first map seems like a tutorial, but I played through it for a bit. Zero issues. Works out of the box.
Uncovering fog of war is very slow and choppy. Map zoom out works with page up/down (and scroll wheel but unable to zoom out fully w/ wheel). FPS was about 10 for most of the game, with in-game setting tweaks I got that up to 60 for most of it. Definitely change in-game settings.
I completed the first mission, but no further.
Main screen says: "Please close the game and make sure Easy Anti-Cheat is running to continue."
Online multiplayer worked in the Pit. Tourney results didn't update (never have through wine/proton). Otherwise works out of the box.
Tested real world plank. Haven't tested vive tracker. Otherwise perfect.
Multiplayer works. XBox 360 wireless "for windows" controller works. Exiting game seemed to hang. Other minor oddities mostly unnoticed and likely early access game issues rather than proton issues.
Stardock Launcher launches. Play button is greyed out. Click "Links" in the upper right of the launcher. Click "Open Game Folder" Find "StarControl_DX11.exe" and execute it.
WINESERVER="/home/psymin/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Proton 4.2/dist/bin/wineserver" WINEPREFIX="/home/psymin/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/271260/pfx" winetricks -q corefonts vcrun2015
Tried with Proton Experimental. Hosted a multiplayer game via Steam as well as joined a multiplayer game via Steam.
First tutorial fight went well. Had some issues with the tutorial and the hiring process. Once past tutorial stuff it might work well.
Worked great out of the box on Steam Deck. Played all the way through co-op.
I played this for about an hour on Steam Deck with no issues. Played for over 6 hours including both online modes on Manjaro / Radeon.
Didn't test much. Played two videos. No tweaks. No flaws found. More testing needed.
