Runs perfectly. LAN did not seem to function.
Proton-GE-5.9
a little bit of screen tearing, but thats it.
Just go into settings and select "keyboard+mouse" to not use mouse only play.
Sometimes you have to [exit steam --> open steam --> exit steam --> open steam, and run game] to get it to run.
Tried everything I could find.
I couldnt get this to work natively, with Proton (GE either), Wine Steam, or Steam Linux Runtime. I used the "-nojoy", i tried "-fullscreen", I tried unplugging absolutely everything except for my mouse and keyboard, nothing. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
If you try to just install this on your machine, you will find it unplayable.
Game will not work on native/runtime steam. Will crash no matter what.
Game does not run natively.
This game requires (at least for me and many others), that you install Flatpak steam vs the Native Steam. Otherwise this game does not run at all.
It just works
Very rarely would it crash on the main menu.
If you experience issues i recommend installing it via the flatpak version of steam.
Game used to work fine
Game worked fine about a week or so ago,
I ran Proton Experimental with these launch arguments: "PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip"
not exactly sure why but the game now just crashes on start. Have tried: Expirimental, GE 6, GE 6.1, GE 5.9
gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip
Toggle Crouch (c
) will result in a crash
A cross-platform bug I'm having is controller button prompts being displayed, even when on keyboard and mouse.
gamemoderun %command%
Proton-5.11-GE-3-MF GloriousEggroll
The game would freeze and crash on the logo/loading screen, this is the only version of proton i was able to get the game to work on.
Only during the loading sequence is audio gone. The rest of the game is fine.
Input is a bit laggy on the main menu.
The game crashes very often, usually after a mining run is finished, or loading into a multiplayer game while already loaded into your own game.
in order to play multiplayer you need to recieve an invite and launch the game from there.
Easy Anti-Cheat, unplayable. so upsetting.
for some reason my controller mappings did not work, (i blame this on steam hooking to the Easy-AntiCheat window instead of the game)
a few stutters here and there, not particularly helpful in boss fights.
sometimes players will disconnect, but this is an elden ring issue, not steam play.
Runs great, even with easy-anticheat enabled, multiplayer works.
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command%
Steps to make this work on my system:
- Compatibility Tools > Steam Linux Runtime
- Beta x84 chromium binaries
- Run https://github.com/solsticegamestudios/GModCEFCodecFix/releases
- Launch options
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command%
The game runs mostly fine, any bugs i found were pretty much due to this being released yesterday.
Proton-6.23-GE-1
Voice Recognition doesnt seem to work (probably the same issue as phasmophobia)
If you select the higher quality voice recognition, there is significant input lag. select the lower quality, as voice recognition doesnt work.
Tabbing out of the game can result in crash.
Game launches to an EULA, after accepting the EULA dissappears and nothing happens, just a transparent/borderless/sizeless window.
I did not expect this to work, since it requires a desktop wallpaper type integration, I think it's like Wallpaper engine in that, youd need a specific plugin for your DE to get it to work.
Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF
Voice Recognition (used with the spirit box and taunting ghosts), is not usable, this is also the problem on windows 7. You can still technically use voice (holding V)
NOTE: Devs are working on this (the problem has to do with Unity using cortana), although it may be a while.
Some ghosts that arent shadows, do not render or partially render.
When playing a mission, the framerate drops significantly, and input lag increases moderately
When loading a mission progress halts at 90%, the game is still loading, you need to click on the screen and wait a little, some lag will happen when you load in, just be patient.
Needed to change to older Proton
Doesn't launch on either Native or Proton
-nojoy -vulkan
On proton steam claims the game is running, but hangs and never shows a window, on native whilst viewing steam active logs, it crashes with an error
SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Portal 2/portal2_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libmimalloc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Which I've been unable to resolve thus far, tried copying it from another game, tried installing dependencies, tried verifying files, tried installing on another another drive, tried reinstalling, nothing has seemed to work.
Install the COZ Patch!
I could not use any proton version (including latest ge), besides Expiremental, was getting graphics errors before i could even reach the main menu.
gameplay routine may need to be adjusted for crashes, and graphics are degraded a bit, but other than that, its close to native.
Proton-GE-Custom 5.9
Unable to hear and use in-game voicechat
On windows, im able to pull full ultra (legendary i believe) graphics, under proton anything more than Rare graphics (or medium/high-medium i believe), would cause extreme frame drops when loading terrain.
After about 45 Minutes to 2 hours, the game will crash. and since you have to be the host of the lobby to play, you lose all of your progress.
Some versions of proton will get you stuck on load (6+ for me).
Joining a lobby (even rejoining one you created) will get you stuck on the loading screen.
In-Game Voicechat is borked.
Sometimes i have to switch between Proton 5.10, and 5.9, to login to xbox live.
Internal Anti-Cheat crashes the game
once you get to the birthday selection screen (sometimes right before), after waiting on a blank screen for a while, the internal anti-cheat still gets ya.
Linux Unrelated Note: in a Windows VM UE5 crashes before the game window even launches, just after EAC passes.
I got issues connecting to game servers but restarting the game and removing gamemoderun %command%
seemed to do the trick. Which one of those fixed it? not sure.
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa gamemoderun %command%
No audio, required SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa
to be added to command options
Works flawlessly, modding works perfectly as well (through workshop so far)
multiples of some entities spawned at once
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
Once character is created, and in-game the performance is horrible (and on low settings), would've been worse without launch options.
Was only able to get the game to not crash on Nvidia drivers 525xx and proton 8+
As of patch 0.5.41448 The game does not launch at all.
Had it running on Proton 7-14 before this patch, now it is not running.
