AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command%
The controler may not work out of the box. Go into the game settings and on the input, change it from keyboard/mouse to controller. This also happens if you reset the settings.
On AMD systems / handhelds it can sometimes run incredibly slow for some reason. Under 10 fps or so. This launch option fixed it for me: AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command% I've heard it works on the other Re;Birth games, too, which apparently have the same issue.
I tried other Proton versions on Steam, but none solved the issue without launch options. I haven't tried GE-Proton for this game.

Runs perfectly out of box.
No tinkering required.

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia WINEDLLOVERRIDES="opengl32.dll=n,b" %command%
I am using the Neptastic Mod to improve the graphics.
I use a gaming laptop with Intel integrated graphics and a discrete Nvidia GPU. When the game runs on Intel graphics, the screen rapidly flashes black during 3d sections. I have my laptop set to default to integrated graphics for battery and performance, so I used launch options to make it launch on my discrete graphics.
Clicking off to the side when the game window is focused freezes the game until you click back on the window. This causes problems when streaming the game on Discord but is otherwise not a problem. Using Alt+Tab doesn't make the game freeze so it doesn't break the Discord stream.

MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=zink %command%
As soon as you load into the world, you get a really rapid flashing from normal to black.
The launch option MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=zink %command% is required if your using an Intel ARC graphics card. The in world flashing goes away once you use this. Using exprimental, or the steam recommended version of proton of 8-0-5 doesn't make a diffrence.

Works great OOTB. Highly recommended and a lot of fun!

No bugs/ issues with the game on Deck.

Running without a problem.

As a Neptunia fan, i needed to try this one on Linux, and it runs like a charm . Plus, i still have my lvl 400+ chars, definitely going to play it a bit again .

If you are having issues with this game currently, try reverting your mesa install. for some reason the mesa23.0 packages resort to software rendering over using the gpu or igpu.
And a thanks to Nishiyama for pointing out the renderer since I overlooked that multiple times

worked great for a little while then something broke with a system update now the game runs with 9% gpu and 85% cpu at 5fps. most likely an issue with mesa
radeonsi_disable_sam=true AMD_DEBUG=nowc %command%
Use these launch options to fix performance problems with AMD hardware.
Works out of the box
You will need to change some settings in the game first before playing and setting the resolution to 720p can imporve your expirence.
You have to go to config to set the controller as your input device
By default, the game will only accept mouse and keyboard input which you use to change to the controller layout. Once that is changed the game will work perfectly fine the next time you boot. I suggest changing the game resolution (in big picture) to 720p to eliminate the blue bars at the top and bottom. I haven't gotten very far in the game so I cannot comment on stability.
Bloqueado a 40 fps
Funciona bien nativamente. Es posible, pero no necesario, el uso de un layout de control alternativo recomendado por la comunidad de Steam
Game works great, but there is performance loss.
When in dungeons or in combat, there is perfromance loss on Linux which is not seen on Windows with the same hardware. (up to 30 FPS loss depending on the dungeon or battle you are in)
All of the menus and the scenes perfrom similar to Windows.
I have played though Chapter 1 and part of Chapter 2 on Linux.
Framerate seems to be always capped to 60 FPS no matter what, unlike Windows which adjusts the framerate limit to 30 or 60 FPS.
Works out of the box but low FPS when in dungeons
FPS can go below 30 when in dungeons. Maybe missing some OpenGL optimization.
I bound the buttons to the default keyboard bindings in the game. I shared this as a community layout named "Steam Deck Layout." The game is borderline unplayable with the default layout.
It seems Steam could add some improvement here by allowing the Steam Deck controler to spoof an Xbox (xinput) or PS controller. I got the game to work by creating a custom controller layout bound to keyboard controls as the game seemed to ignore the controller otherwise.
Smooth. Thought my controller wasn't detected, but it's just a setting you turn on in the main menu is all.
Everything works fine with minor issues
Everything runs fine with good framerates (60fps): Dungeon select, event scenes, menu and inventory, SP Skills/EXE Drive animations, etc. However, for some reason, the only part of the game that takes my frames down (to 24fps-30fps) is when walking on dungeons.
Runs perfectly out-of-the-box with Proton.
Does not work with GloriusEggroll. Use regular Proton
Started and ran with no issues or modifications, no crashes.
Game does crash when attempting to run with Glorious Eggroll's Proton with FSR. I would recommend following this guide to get +1080p resolutions: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2556152526
Runs just like how it would natively. The differences from running this on a WIndows PC and a Linux PC are practically non-existent.
Works great, slightly low res though
Lower resolution (1366x768) than my native screen resolution (1920x1080)
Runs perfect out of the box
for me, it crashed after less than a minute of the strategic part of the gameplay. Not playable, but all the features seem to work.
the game has a max resolution of 1280x720p and fullscreen targets your main screen by default. using the super key to move the fullscreened game to the other (preferred) screen causes a textured cloudy border on the bottom and top, no border on the left, and a huge border on the right. My preferred solution is to set the game to windowed mode and then move it into fullscreen position with the taskbar and such moved to the other screen, then manually disable the window's title bar.
crash while attacking enemies, can attack a few turns but then it freezes permanently
I couldn't get it to run on my windows ntfs partition, but moving the install location to my /home ext4 partition fixed that issue.
moving savegames from windows to proton was possible but you gotta know where to look: copy from "/media/[LINUX USERNAME]/[NUMBERS REPRESENTING WINDOWS C-DRIVE]/Users/[WINDOWS USERNAME]/Documents/My Games/Idea Factory International, Inc" to "/home/[USERNAME]/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/282900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Idea Factory International, Inc/Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1"
To fix the sound bug, use: protontricks 282900 xact
Works out of the box.
Controller was not detected every time I launch the game but closing it and relaunching the game fixed the issue.
It's not game-breaking, but I think the sound bug is annoying enough to prevent me from giving this one thumbs up.
Music and character voices work as they should, but all other sound effects are missing.
Seems to run perfectly
Very enjoyable experience with slight stutter
Axes drift could be resolved by remapping the drifting axes The overall mapping of the controller was different from the Windows Version, the cause could be within a miss-configuration in steam, not sure
Slight Stutter, still playable though
Works good.
I've played only last chapter with Proton, everything was working good.
Works very well out-of-the-box
Works out of the box
I had no issues at all with this game. My Steam Controller and 3rd Party Nintendo Switch Pro Controller worked fine. I even tried a few different controller profiles for my Steam Controller. Overall, a very pleasant experience!
