for me, it crashed after less than a minute of the strategic part of the gameplay. Not playable, but all the features seem to work.
the game has a max resolution of 1280x720p and fullscreen targets your main screen by default. using the super key to move the fullscreened game to the other (preferred) screen causes a textured cloudy border on the bottom and top, no border on the left, and a huge border on the right. My preferred solution is to set the game to windowed mode and then move it into fullscreen position with the taskbar and such moved to the other screen, then manually disable the window's title bar.
crash while attacking enemies, can attack a few turns but then it freezes permanently
I couldn't get it to run on my windows ntfs partition, but moving the install location to my /home ext4 partition fixed that issue.
moving savegames from windows to proton was possible but you gotta know where to look: copy from "/media/[LINUX USERNAME]/[NUMBERS REPRESENTING WINDOWS C-DRIVE]/Users/[WINDOWS USERNAME]/Documents/My Games/Idea Factory International, Inc" to "/home/[USERNAME]/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/282900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Idea Factory International, Inc/Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1"
This game crashes on startup on Windows 10 for me, but it works fine with Proton 5.13-5.
I was surprised that all my saves were synced to/from steam cloud from when I played this game years ago on Windows 7.
In this volume, I didn't notice any plot holes from a missing movie that others were reporting.
If you have a single monitor, I expect that using the game will be as simple as selecting Proton 5.0-9, then click install and then play.
like other Proton games, getting fullscreen to go to the right monitor and selecting the correct resolution and aspect ratio requires some tinkering. I recommend full screen with only one monitor [enabled/plugged into your computer/single-display mode in your display settings] and full screen. Windowed mode only allowed 4:3 aspect ratio because my main monitor is 4:3.
