After just changing the controls, the game makes for a very good Steam Deck experience, if you"re willing to deal with a tiny bit of jank
The retro text windows are small, making most of text hard to read. None of the text is terribly important but it is the game's main method of delivering exposition
The sea has a weird graphical glitch separating it into lines. It isn't intrusive or distracting, I actually didn't notice it at all until a family member pointed it out to me
I struggled to control the game until I switched to community setting and the default mouse sensitivity is a little too high for me, although after switching to community setting the game is in no way unplayable

It is necessary to install the font size mod. Without it, it is practicably unreadable.

DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
Worked perfectly out the box. Super smooth experience.
There is a lot of text and it is tiny.
Ocean shader is broken, but everything else renders fine.

Almost everything is unreadable
Micro-stuttering
Changed the A button to "Backspace" because the backspace of the steam deck keyboard doesn't work.
Tiny fonts
Keyboard backspace

6.21-GE-2
I played the game from start to finish and do not encounter major issues. I had total 2 crashes which can be encounter in windows.
Water from far distance seems like a bit off. Proton defaults to DXVK but I tried with OpenGL which lead to major performance issues.
Runs out of the box
Runs flawlessly out of the box. No tweaks needed.
Worked perfectly on this laptop, ran smoothly, even alt-tabbed quickly. Played on ultra settings

Tried all Protons (3.7 to 5.0-6) and wine 5.5
It launches, reserves screen space for a window, then crashes clean out after 2 seconds. Log shows something in the game exe itself threw an exception. Didn't bother tracing out what exactly, but I pasted the stacktrace from PROTON_LOG
at the bottom.
I have tried changing game.ini
to make game run in windowed mode, to no change.
I have tried overriding d3dx9
with winetricks
- no change.
I am suspecting that game doesn't like my tiling WM deciding what the window size should be. If you're using tiling WM and this is crashing, I suggest launching the game in floating mode and see what happens.
I tried floating steam instead and letting the game take over whole screenspace, but again - no changes.

Runs perfectly well. I haven't played for that long, though.
The game runs perfectly out of the box - I encountered no slow downs, glitches, or crashes.
Game worked fine without any tweaks. Average FPS was around 190-200. The game now has good performance in battles.
Works flawlessly via D9VK out of the box with no tweaks.

Basically a silver based on the fact it is playable all the way through to end, but the frame rate issue makes it a really tough go.
Minor artifacts depending on which way the camera was pointing. Some weird textures. Practically unnoticeable.
Significant slowdown with any area that has lots of models or just "moving water" models. D9VK seemed to give an extra 8-20 frames depending on the scene.
Didn't crash half way through, but as you get farther in the game the crashes would happen more frequent. Not sure why this is, but it would only happen after a new scene load. Save often.

Performance issues make this nearly unplayable. Attempts to use D9VK resulted in crash on new game.

The game runs horribly out of the box (3-10 fps in battle), but I've managed to fix this issue with the use of popsUlfr's Proton build (Proton 3.16-6 Gallium Nine Extras 0.3.0). After that the game has pretty good performance.
After some time, though, I've experienced crashes and textures not loading - turns out the game has been running out of memory. This can be fixed with the large address aware.
After all this I played for ~5 hours and haven't experienced a single major issue.

Played through to about the second to last island. No matter what tweaks I attempted, the game suffers horrific lag during combat that renders it borderline unplayable. Also encountered a few texture and sizing bugs.

Very low fps, barely playable when there is lot of animation ( for example dragon "test" chamber)

Very low fps on global map and battles, used by newest proton version

The game in the fighting is totally unplayable.

overworld runs fine, but in battle FPS drops to 5-10 and especially animations with a lot of particle effects slow game to 1-2 FPS, it also slows the entire game so you often have to wait 30 seconds for each animation to finish before you can act with next unit, this makes the game almost unplayable.

Didnt check the FPS but it seemed quite fluid to me.

FPS below 10, otherwise it works (Steam Overlay, ...)

To fix invisible hero, I had to edit registry as described here: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19045&iTestingId=96626 But FPS is very low, it's uncomfortable to play.

It runs, but performance is horrible ~10fps

Very poor performance. Sub 20 fps during battles on mid and low settings @ 1080p. Dips to 10 fps and lower during battle animations/effects. Steam overlay does not display properly.
