Played through the entire main game (100% timepieces), as well as put a few hours into both of the DLCs. The main game runs fairly well, although there is freezing on entering the levels, and the levels with rain have graphical glitches that can render the game unplayable. The metro DLC runs so slowly as to be unplayable, the death wish DLC suffers from leaning heavily on a rain-based level leading to sometimes becoming a white screen, and the arctic cruise DLC seems to run fine.
The Windows version of the game runs very well - I did not encounter any issues.
Note that the Linux native version of this game will not run due to Adobe AIR dependencies, so instead you have to force it to use Steam Play.
Created dxvk.conf file in the same folder as the game's executable. Only line in the file was "d3d9.deferSurfaceCreation = True". Without this, the game can't be run.
Videos do not play, such as the introductory video on start-up - you instead get a black screen.
Specifically when entering the central district on the island, there were periodic crashes. I also encountered a single crash on a later stage, but that was never repeated.
After starting up for the first time, switch from OpenGL to Vulkan and restart the game.
After playing some single player - as long as the startup flag -useembedded is added, the game runs perfectly - I saw no issues.
-useembedded
Played through to about the second to last island. No matter what tweaks I attempted, the game suffers horrific lag during combat that renders it borderline unplayable. Also encountered a few texture and sizing bugs.
The game runs perfectly out of the box - I encountered no slow downs, glitches, or crashes.
There are some graphical issues, but I was able to confirm that they were also present on a Windows machine, and therefore they appear to be unrelated to Proton - thus, I indicated that everything was working as expected and in line with a Windows experience.
Once you switch to exclusive fullscreen, the game runs without any problems in a default Steam Play instance.
Can be fixed by switching to exclusive fullscreen in the graphics options.
Game ran perfectly without any tweaks. Take note, however - if you attempt to run the game in fullscreen, it will become unable to launch from then on forward.
Ran the game without any tweaks all the way through campaign completion. Ran almost entirely fine, except for one time where my character became stuck in the floor. Also encountered some very odd physics from time to time on the thrown hatchet. Reading through forums it appeared that these issues were also present for people playing in native Windows, so I'm marking this as Platinum to reflect that it played identically (I believe) via Proton.
Played through the full game without any obvious issues. Performance was good, didn't see any slowdowns. No tweaks were employed - game worked out of the box.
Game worked perfectly out of the box - I played it through to game completion without any obvious issues of slow downs.
